"An excellent place to stay."
This is an excellent hotel. The staff are attentive and helpful. The food is excellent. We will definitely return next time we are in the area. Do not be deterred because it is on the outskirts of Whitby, it is just a few minutes of easy driving into town.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"One of the best hotels I have stayed at"
A beautiful hotel with absolutely no issues (and I'm picky). We walked in with back packs and muddy boots having just completed the coast to coast walk. We were in need of a comfortable bed, good shower, massage and a drink and were not disappointed on any front. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The location is just outside Whitby […] and surrounded by beautiful gardens. Wait until check in to book breakfast as it was cheaper then and well worth it. Will definitely be back. "Lovely but a bit far from town"
It is a retreat from town. Quite a surprise for Whitby and rather expensive, but very nice. Breakfast was not good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Totally peaceful and relaxing."
An all-round excellent 3 days. Would definitely recommend, and have done so already. Thank-you to all staff involved in our memorable stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The stay certainly had potential. Sadly on the first night we were unable to sleep due to a “hunting” party drinking and shouting below our window until 1am. Reception were informed and the party asked to be quiet though still they stayed. Only rain seemed to move them indoors – not what I expected from a luxury hotel and more like a camping site. General […] the staff were very polite and the surrounding estate well kept. The spar area was “ok”. We enjoyed the rest of the weekend with trips out. On discussing with partner, we decided that we wouldn't be going back. On a separate point - the picture used in advertising is not the building that you stay in!!! "Comfortable with good facilities."
We were not in main building, so there was a short walk to use pool and other facilities. No problem when weather is good. The standard of our room, leisure facilities and service were excellent.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Raithwaite wedding recep"
Stayed here as was atteending a wedding day/ eve reception. The grounds are amazing, we stayed in the keep which was lovely. Immavulately clean, tea/ hot choc provided good quality. The staff we all very helpful and friendly. Only downside was the poor music/sound system. Also no phone reception but the wifi was free.Genuine Expedia guest review
A great week away; courteous staff; beautiful grounds; great location. All enhanced by sunny weather. Thanks.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
the staff were friendly, pleasant and proud of the hotel, enthusiastic in sharing the benefits of what it offered. Meals in all restaurants were very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Lovely hotel, excellent staff, breakfast and dinner very good. We were located in the Keep, separate from the main hotel. The staff were very apologetic and offered golf buggy rides to and from the main building but far from satisfactory after a lovely swim and steam room, a draughty golf buggy ride outside, back to your room . I strongly advise you […] ask for the main hotel building if you want to use the leisure facilities. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We all felt very welcome and the staff were excellent. the hotel room was scrupulously clean amazing beds- so comfortable. The only thing I would add to your rooms would be a hair dryer . Although when I asked for one, your staff bought one to the room. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and plentiful. The location was great for us as we were going […] into Whitby for the evening, but for families there is a beach just across from the main entrance to the hotel, I am not sure if it is safe to swim there but definitely great for crabbing or rock pooling. "Beautiful grounds but very expensive"
Overall we were very happy here. All the staff were very nice and helpful. They would check on the dog and give him a little walk if wanted. The rooms have a basic feel but all the fixtures and fitting are modern and very clean. Our room had a patio area with sliding doors. It got very hot as there were no opening windows. There is an air con unit but […] you have to use it with the door open for the hose, very much like a tumble dryer hose. It was very noisy and you can't leave the door open with a dog which would have loved to play with the wild rabbits that come to say hello. Service could be slow in the bars and really slow at breakfast. Spa facilities were very pleasant but they allow children in at certain times which for us was a down side. Massages are very good but not a great selection. Grounds are nice for dog walking and as you walk towards whitby there are some stunning views. Breakfasts were nice . The food in the restaurant and bar was nice but limited and very expensive. It is nice quality but I felt it was missing that something special for the cost. If you are on a budget this is not the place. If you have money to burn you will enjoy yourselves. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A wonderful escape."
Beautiful hotel with an eye for detail. I was in The Keep- wonderful room but a bit soulless in the sitting/bar area. The swimming pool was fabulous although the sauna was too hot and had the potential for burnt feet as floor so hot. Staff were exceptionally helpful. I did find the venting of the cooling system out onto the veranda of my room with access […] to the veranda from all other rooms made me feel vulnerable and it meant the room was open to anyone that wanted to come in via the veranda. Not reassuring especially for a single traveller. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"A peaceful taste of luxury in a great location"
We (my wife and I plus our small terrier) booked one night at the Raithwaite Hall hotel as we rather fancied a quiet night away in a hotel located near to Sandsend. One of the deciding factors in opting for the Raithwaite was that it came up as 'dog friendly' on a Google web search. As indicated by my satisfaction ratings above, the Hotel more than […] met my expectations of a 'luxury' hotel, brilliantly set in a quiet valley within easy walking distance of both Whitby and Sandsend. We have stayed in many 'dog friendly' hotels in the UK, but this was the first that insisted we sign an indemnity form relating to the dog. Other establishments have adopted a less patronising approach with regard to the behaviour of our dog, and our responsibilities. The restriction that demanded that the dog not be left unattended meant that we were unable to avail ourselves of the spa, bar area etc., and while it appeared practical to put us in 'annexed' accommodation away from the main hotel, it did feel that we were being treated differently to other guests. That said, the accommodation was of a very high standard - with no complaints. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Great Hotel, with exceptional staff."
I stayed here for two nights with my wife, staff were brilliant, friendly and very helpful, the food was good, could be better, but still of a very good standard overall - apart from a stale pudding served to me! On the plus side the very shocked waiter handled my complaint very well. The gardens are excellent and it is in a very picturesque setting […] with great walks and a very quaint little seaside village a short walk away. On the down side the Gym facilities were very poor, for such a high standard of hotel this really let the overall experience down. I expected more than some dumbbells (max weight 25kg!!) a bench and two treadmills and two bikes. There was limited headroom so I couldn't stand up and do overhead exercises and the space was tiny! This really needs improvement, it was a bit of a let down as the pool area is great. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Great place to stay"
Lovely quiet rural location surrounded by trees, close beach and not far from Whitby. Ideal for a relaxing weekend breakGenuine Expedia guest review
I absolutely loved my stay at Raithwaite estate, the staff were outstanding, the location was beautiful and the food was excellent, If I had to give any constructive criticism about the suite that I stayed in is that it could do with a womens touch, just needs a few little extra touches and it would be perfect!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wow, what a fantastic place."
Stayed here for a night for our 15th Anniversary, and had the most fantastic relaxing time. "A haven of luxury"
The hotel is situated within a quiet woodland estate with a lake and footpaths to neighbouring areas. There is nothing more uplifting than the gentle sound of birdsong and rustling branches of the surrounding trees. Well, maybe a massage or dip in the jacuzzi! The staff truly spoil you, with no exceptions, from checking in to the restaurant, bar and […] relaxation area. The rooms are split between the main hotel, the Keep, the lake house for a small group and self-catering cottages so you can pick and choose the type of stay you want and nowhere seems too crowded. All have access to the spa's indoor pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi. Everywhere is spotless and the furnishings very elegant. The cuisine is delicious, both in the restaurant and at the breakfast in the Keep. The road entrance to the hotel faces the beach and the road offers easy access to neighbouring towns for sightseeing, shopping, sailing, walks Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Could be great..."
We were accommodated in The Keep, down the hill from the main hotel. This wasn't an issue at all. Our room was large and well furnished with a sliding door to our own patio. Unfortunately the patio door lock and chain were both broken giving no method of securing the room. Having reported this to reception we headed out and on coming back several hours […] later we're greeted with a note to contact reception and an awful sewerage smell from our corridor. The manager was very apologetic and we were moved to a room one floor up which was meant to be deluxe. We could tell no difference from our standard room less the disappearance of a bath, though apparently the floor space is slightly bigger. We requested to be moved again to a room with a bath and the slightly flustered manager did oblige. Third time lucky, good room, but the overall experience was a little exhausting and, given the prices charged, I don't think this hotel has got things quite right yet. "Beds too soft/breakfast in bed poor for £35.00"
Overall it was excellent,Simon the concierge was exceptional and very professional.the gardens were beautiful and the spa was great. The breakfast let the trip finish on a bad note for £35.00.We had a very nice lunch and dinner which were expensive but worth the price ,so we were bemused why the breakfast was poor.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Be aware of the Club rooms"
Be aware that most of the Club rooms do not have a bath, and may only have skylight windows (we were told this by the lady on Reception). We weren't aware of this when we booked so were disappointed with our room upon arrival and asked to swap rooms. The lady on reception was really unhelpful and not prepared to make a change as they were fully booked […] (even though not everyone had checked in). I had to ask to see a manager, then waited for 15 mins or so. After a long discussion a manager did manage to find a different room for us, which was perfect. I just wish we hadn't been made to jump through so many hoops and made to feel so embarrassed to get a satisfactory room (we weren't looking for a comp upgrade, just proper windows and a bath!). Also, the table we were given when we went for dinner was awful - right next to the waiters serving and clearing area, so very busy and noisy. There were plenty of other tables available so it seemed strange that we were given this table. We asked to be moved, preferably to the Conservatory, and the waiters happily did this, which made such an improvement to our experience and was lovely. Again, I wish we hadn't had to do this - I would have expected the waiters to pre-empt this at such a nice hotel. The hotel is very nice and the food was amazing (dinner, cocktails, breakfast), and the spa area is pleasant if a little small. Just be careful which room type you book and ask for a table in the Conservatory! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Quality of Staff"
People make a place the staff were greatGenuine Hotels.com guest review
We visited Whitby on the trail of master navigator Captain James Cook's early days and this hotel was perfectly placed for this. The hotel provided all the comfort needed for a journey […] into history. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I booked this hotel as a surprise romantic wknd for my wife as she has never had a real break away from our twin boys, & this place looked & sounded amazing. Whitby is also a really lovely place to go & visit so when we did arrive on the Friday in the downpour of rain. We were treated like royalty from the moment we got there. They showed us to our […] room, offered to help bring our bags in from our car & generally made us feel welcome. The food was first class with the portions not to big & not to small & all the staff are very welcoming & easy to get on with. My wife has coeliac disease which was not a problem at this hotel as they catered for her every needs. I booked a standard club room & after leaving a message asking if we could have a view of the grounds as this was a surprise for my wife, found that the hotel had very generously upgraded us (complimentary) to a executive room free of charge. The decor was brilliant and the part of the hotel we stayed in was only 4 months old. Generally speaking we had an amazing stay the hotel staff, food, leisure facilities and rooms are faultless & I would recommend this place to anyone. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Doesn't live up to expectations"
Nice hotel but overpriced for the service you get. I have stayed in a lot better for a lot less £500 for 2 nights and they forgot to make our room up on the second day I had to go to reception at 18:00 to ask for it doing. If you pay a high price you expect high service. Plenty more fish in the sea to try so I won't be rushing back.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
