Claridge Inn - St. George

Claridge Motel overstates the status of the hotel. It is, basically, a Super 8 Motel. Amenities were minimal, including no shampoo. The bright side is that the motel is the first of a number of motels on the west side of I-15 @ exit 6 in St. George, UT,, so it was very easy to find. The room was fair. No shampoo or lotion was in the room. The drawers were not very clean. There were strands of hair and old stains in the drawers. We found a small bug in the bed.There was a faint sewer like smell in the room.

This was a good hotel to spend the night. Clean, friendly front desk service, very close to restaurants and other businesses. If booking in this hotel, make sure you stay away try and get a room on the west side of the building, it's much quieter. Our stay at the Claridge Inn was a positive one. Sure the rooms could use some updating, but for the price it wasn't bad. We were in and out overnight for a friend's wedding and decided that since we were only going to spend about 10 hours in the motel we decided to go with the Claridge after finding that our usual B&B was booked. The motel was built in the 1980s. I don't know that because I saw it being built but because the decor screams it. The online ad says that […] the room has a flat-screen TV which it does. Flat screen CRT 22" TV but yes, the screen is flat. The bed was comfortable. Definitely a plus for what we wanted. That's the positive. And the ice machine was very cold. That's a second. While the motel doesn't have control over it the pool is unusable until late due to a vast number of very vocal children. The wi-fi is weak as I've ever seen and was pretty much unusable. The room was clean but is due a coat of paint and carpet very soon. The room did come with an iron and ironing board which were convenient but we also had to drive up the street to K-Mart to buy shampoo. Seriously guys? No shampoo, no shower gel in the bathroom? The Claridge was definitely not worth the rate we paid for the night. It's just too dated, ill-maintained and doesn't have the amenities to justify the price. However it's also spring in St. George when the snowbirds are still in town and the northern Utah/southern Idahoans are hitting the area for the weekend so you will pay twice what the room is worth on a Saturday night in April. If I stayed here again I would request a room on opposite side of McDonalds. Greyhound pulls in around 1-2 am and their motors sound like they arr in you room. My windows must have been paper thin. We went and bought febreeze hoping the old smell would leave- it didn't. Late night check in was a joke. Rang bell and pounded on windows for at least 20 […] min. Even tried calling. No answer. The room was very clean but the beds were the most uncomforatable we have ever slept in, and after 10pm there were horns honking doors slamming and people yelling outside, at 2am in the morning a tour bus pulled up to the fast food resturant next door and unloaded a bunch of yelling kids. we left about 2:30 am, we won't stay there again.

We stayed 3 nights. The first night the bed was so hard we ask for a different room. They moved us into a room with a new mattress. The next 2 nights were great. Personal was great in solving our problem. I would stay there again.

Passed up some cheaper rates at other hotels because this one had a decent rating. I didn't expect anything spectacular but it was mediocre at best. The staff was pleasant, the room was clean, but beyond that there is not much else good to say. The rooms are clean but dated. It's a convenient location off the freeway if you are passing through. The rooms are very basic and in need of some updating. The mattresses are not great. Overall a fine place to stay for a night passing through town, but I wouldn't stay there for any longer with my family because the room was small and lacked the comfort […] and convenience that I would want for a longer stay. There was also a lot of noise from early morning deliveries and dumpster emptying from the McDonalds located right next door. Woke us up very early from all the banging. The rating showed higher than those in the area, that's why we chose it. It's definitely not worth the higher rating. Everything was very mediocre. The hotel needs to invest in some new tubs, which were worn through to the fiberglass, and more comfortable beds. Read more
