The hotel itself is old and reasonably well-maintained. The breakfast is awesome as we in America aren't used to the full-English breakfast. Wifi is spotty, rooms a bit drafty in winter, ample restaurants nearby. All in all, a very pleasant place to stay. Room tip; try and get a sea view room.

Stayed here for 2 nights over the Christmas holiday. Reserved 2 rooms, both with king size beds, for our family of four. Beds very comfortable. Full English breakfast both mornings was delicious. Staff very friendly. Hotel highly recommended

This was a great place to stay & I'd recommend it, esp. if you're coming/going by train, as the Stracey Hotel is a 5 minute walk from the Norwich train station. The only thing is, arriving by train at night and walking to the hotel it felt a bit like I was walking in the middle of nowhere with not many people around, which was a bit disconcerting as a woman traveler, but then I realized the hotel was pretty close. The hotel staff was really helpful and pleasant, and the room was nice, clean, and comfortable. The bathroom/shower was nice and modern, unlike most of the other hotels I stayed at during this particular trip. Also, it's an easy 15 minute or so walk from the Stracey into the downtown Norwich area (market, shops, castle, etc.). Also if you take the city bus it stops at the train station so then walking to the hotel is easy from there.

Nice hotel. Quant. Overpriced though. But, it's Britain. Everything is overpriced. I thought breakfast was included with the price but it wasn't. So check breakfast out first. Good location for me, a walker. Far enough away from the busy center but within a fifteen minute walk.

"VERY NICE"
very clean and comfortable room offering everything I needed including high speep internet. sadly the hotel wasnt serving food that evening so I had to travel around 3 miles to find a suitable resteraunt. I wasnt informed of breakfast times and I had to leave around 7.30am for a business meeting, the breakfast room wasnt open at this time so I'm unsure […] what time you can go down for breakfast. Stayed at the pelican on a overnight with work on a site visit,Room was clean and tidy,shower was good,nice pressure! The bar had a lovely feel about,nice fire old beams etc. The food was'nt the cheapest I've had,But I had the BEST steak and ale pie ever!! So the old saying you get what you pay for comes to mind. The Pelican is a lovely country pub with rooms attached. The welcome was great, the food well above gastro pub standard and reasonably priced and the bar was welcoming, the locals were friendly and the log fire an extra bonus. "The Pelican"
Overall stay and food was pretty excellent. My comments:- They asked me to pay at the end of my stay when I knew I had already paid and had confirmation by e-mail. Had to argue the point which somewhat marred the stay. Also they didnt seem to have all the ingredients for a simple salad that was on the menu. "Not as good as I had hoped"
Couldn't fault the warmth and friendliness of the welcome and the staff, but there were a few niggles. The bed was very hard. there was absolutely no reception at all on the radio by the bed and the television was stuck on BBC One and could not be changed. The instruction manual matched the TV but not the remote control. We did tell someone about it […] but nothing was done. The shower was coming off the wall There were two small bottles of mineral water in the bedroom which were not replaced for our second night and there were no water glasses. It's only small stuff but it matters. I chose this place because of the good reviews given to the food and to be honest the food was patchy at best. The dining room was very nice and the service attentive yet unobtrusive. There was a good wine list and a very nice menu. On both nights the food disappointed me, although to be fair both the meals my husband chose he really enjoyed. On the first night my liver and bacon was cooked with no seasoning whatsoever and the french beans were almost raw. I didn't want pudding and asked if I could have some ice cream I received some not very nice cheap vanilla. With a menu as up market as this you would expect to find better ice cream. Second night I ordered the crispy tempura vegetables. They weren't crispy. There was uncooked batter in the broccoli and it was just unpleasant. Yes I know I should have said something at the time but I had been working all day and was very tired and just wanted to get to bed. The breakfasts on the other hand were very good. "B&B med atmosfære og charme."
Denne hyggelige kro med B&B værelser og restauration er særdeles hyggelig og charmerende. Der er pænt og roligt på værelserne, på trods af musik og gæster i restauranten og pubben. Stedet er familie ejet i gennem flere generationer og har tidligere været en smedje og stald som i dag er ombygget og restaureret og er med til at skabe stemning. Kvaliteten […] af maden er i top, og tilberedes gerne af lokale råvarer. Familien er hjælpsom og betænksom og ved overnatning i B&B tilbereder de komplet morgenmad ofte efter ønske og der tages gerne hensyn ved blandt andet div. allergier, hvis de orienteres på forhånd. I pubben findes der over 20 forskellige whiskys og 10 lokale ølmærker, heraf 4 på tab. Jeg kan kun give de varmeste anbefalinger af stedet til andre som ønsker at aflægge et besøg i området, om de så ønsker en overnatning, eller bare noget godt at spise frokost eller aften i restauranten eller pubben.
