Spacious room and the absolute best location for a quick layover. Sink would not drain at all and baseboard was detaching from the walls. Shower was terrific and soothing after a long flight. Comfortable bed and very clean linens.

this is the third time i used this hotel (overpriced by more than 50% compared to other airport hotels that include breakfast - but convenient - be sure to follow signs after deplaning). hotel was renovated after the world soccer tournament but is far removed from a full service hotel (last stay Oct. 2012: no sufficient loan adapters available, desk […] lamp and bed stand lamp were not working, wake-up call was missed). hotel is on the boarding gate side of security so guest could go upstairs and buy food and electronic supplies when they know and stores are open - no such advice is provided by the staff - they rather claim ignorance on availability of supplies, make false promises and have you buy their "take out" food from "room service menu" - no restaurant in hotel). no very efficient or professional customer service on check in. need training and monitoring. this appears just a easy profit center targeting tired transit passengers. if you do not mind taking hotel airport shuttles you can safe easily $100 Read more

This is a wonderfully convenient option for people in international transit through JHB. It WOULD have been a convenient option for me too, if I'd bothered to read the information on my reservation about NOT going through immigration and customs. Unfortunately, I didn't read that information, exited the airport, caught a shuttle bust to the almost identically […] named Protea O.R. Tambo Hotel (note the absence of the word "Transit"), where I was told I had no reservation and was in the wrong hotel. Getting back into the airport was challenging, since you can't check in until 2 hours before your flight. Fortunately, I had a boarding pass for the next morning's flight and was helped by a very kind information agent to get back through security and immigration. He told me that this is a common mistake, and that people without a boarding pass are generally out of luck. Signs could be better at the airport. Read more

If you just need a few hours shut-eye during a layover at JNB airport, the Protea Transit hotel is very convenient. I stayed there with my wife and 2-1/2 year old child during a 9 hour layover, followed by a 16 hour flight.

The room was clean, the bed was great, the shower after a 32 day camping trip through Africa was fantastic. You can't go out of the securityzone when you are suppose to stay at this hotel. I noticed this when I was trying to find the hotel at O.R Tambo i Joburg! The information about this was way down on the site. So I got another hotelroom and threw a lot of money away! So thanks for nothing!

It doesn't say clear enough that this hotel is only for when you arrive from a international flight and leaving on another international flight the next day. I finally managed to get inside the int. area after struggling for 4 hours, and still worrying if I would meet problems the next morning when i had to reenter into south africa to check in to my […] flight with my luggage. I woke up and had to change room in the middle of the night. there was something with the ventilation that was broken and was very noisy, too loud to fall back to sleep. small basic room. only food available is in terminal, no good and expensive food (as always in airports). cool to hang out at night though and not going anywhere. housekeeping woke me up two times in the morning (before 10) entering the room. 窓もなく、びっしり並んだ部屋だけのホテルです。部屋にはミネラルウォーターすらありません。トランジットエリアにあり、ちょっとした食べ物すら手に入れずらいのに、ミニバーもなく、はっきり言って値段ほどの価値はありません。空港周辺のホテルに泊まる方がずっと気が休まると思います。最悪。
