If you need a clean, funky, modern room for a night in a great location, this is it. No frills but great design, especially the wet room. No wardrobe, drawers, hair dryer or anything but perfect for a 1/2 night break if you're only using the room as a place to sleep.

As two friends sharing it was a bit compact, having to crawl round to go to the toilet in the middle of the night. However is very modern, clean and all you can need from a room. Staff were very helpful. Great location for Jewellry Quarter which is a great night out. Would def recommend for a budget break.

Only fault I can think of is that the bathroom in the room is boxed in with transparent glass so don't expect privacy if you're staying with a partner! Fortunately I was travelling alone.

Lovely hotel within walking distance of bullring, jewellery quarter, cafes and restaraunts. Would highly recommend to couples, with its large and comfy bed and quiet comforts. Unfortunately, no toothpaste, showergel etc no tea and coffee facilities but a good overall hotel at a decent price.

It was called a superior double but was only half the size of other double rooms in other hotels No tea and coffee in the room was dissapointing. Bed was very comfortable. No bath just a shower. Good shower

no window, not a problem. they put a blind with recess to pretend it's a window. but dont look behind it's all abit dusty! they hv made the best of the small room with good quality finishes. u hv to watch tv from sitting/ laying on ur bed. but facilities limited - no kettles, they do hv a coffee machine at reception, but it will cost u £1.50 a cuppa. […] no storage space, and there's only 1 hanger, so just about ok for one night. no breakfast. and 15min walk to centre. not much value for money for what we paid. Fantastic little gem this one, quality of the room is superb, great fixtures and fittings, very clean, the bed was a joy, and the LED tv was very nice touch at the bottom of the bed! Some people have complained about lack of tea/coffee in the room, and that there is little wardrobe space...but I'm sorry, you can forgo that for the quality of the room […] here. Anyway, for a short 1-2 night stay why do you need wardrobe space? Do what the rest of us do and keep it folded in your bag/suitcase. If you're desperate for a wardrobe and hangers then you shouldn't have been so cheap and booked in at a more traditional hotel! It's modern, clean, and drips of high quality, I'll be staying again! A very comfortable night (as usual) and the over complicated coffee machine has gone from reception, but I did feel like a naughty school boy having to go to the receptionist to ask for a cup of coffee! The hotel room is small but was okay the bath was nice and impressive. However the RUDE STAFF and impatient cleaning staff ruined the whole stay. The people on reception give out wrong information and the staff members including management dont seem to know what on earth they are doing!!!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Wouldnt stay there EVER again.

The hotel is slightly out of the center of Birmingham (10-15mins walk), parking is available just around the corner at an NCP for £3.50 for 24 hours. The rooms are small but the bed was very comfortable and the showers are good. The divide between the room and the bathroom is glass so you do need to be comfortable with the person you are sharing the […] room with. If you need a hairdryer then they are available to borrow if you ask at reception. We enjoyed our stay because the concept of the hotel was slightly unusual, not just a typical boring hotel. If you're away for work or on business for a few nights, this place is a brilliant base. Not far from the centre, close to local rail connections, and if you're going to an event at the New Bingley Hall, it's a five minute drive. The bed was VERY comfortable, and the room had everything you need from a conventional hotel. The lighting, TV and showers […] are all modern and you certainly don't feel cramped. The towels were very nice indeed, and nice to have a full selection of freeview chanels including Film4. I was concerned about the lack of a window, but to be honest, I very rarely look out of hotel windows, and I'd really rather not wake up to a view of a concrete tower block in the distance. There was no telephone in the room, but the receptionist was happy to book me taxis which arrived promptly. My stay was pre-paid for by work, and it was a nice surprise not to have the standard £50 deposit taken from my credit card. Read more

My second stay in this cheap but comfy hotel. Love the concept, modern look and comfortable king sized bed! Not a place for a romanic night away! Ideal for a business night away. Room smelled of smoke! Lack of places for clothes to hang and surfaces was an issue but it was a compact hotel! Payed for a window room, unfortuanately the offices opposite were able to see everything too!!! I closed the blind the whole time. Enjoyed the wet room though.

I would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for somewhere that is comfortable, stylish and competitively priced. The descriptions of the rooms on the site are reliable; they are compact but provided you aren't going to want to spend a lot of time in your room this is not a problem. The rainfall shower is wonderful after a big night out […] but it does soak everything in the wetroom so beware! We found the staff to be friendly and helpful too. Be aware of the location if you are on your own and returning late. It is between St Paul's Square and the Jewellery Quarter seemingly amongst a lot of business locations and so the area is quite deserted at night/early morning. Read more

The Bloc Hotel Birmingham is a unique experience. Budget Boutique at it's best. The lack of a window in the room didn't matter, the pretend window was brilliant ;-) My double may have been a bit clostrophobic for a couple, but for me on my own was just perfect. I would definitely stay again S

A friend and I booked 2 rooms at the Bloc Hotel. For some reason they don't assume that you might want a room near the person you're actually coming with and our rooms were on different floors. Not ideal. The rooms themselves are small but pretty much perfect. Great big bed, great big telly, small wet room which I didn't use but my friend told me was […] brilliant. There is only one hanger to put your stuff on. A couple more would be nice. And the lighting and layout of the mirrors (best lit mirror is a 2 foot lean across a sink and a recess) is such that applying makeup is nigh on impossible. I really liked the location, off of leafy St Pauls Square. Do note it is a small trek across a motorway to get there. Staff recommended Lasan for dinner round the corner and it was brilliant. We were advised that there were lots of cafes to have breakfast at, but all but one greasy spoon were closed (I spent 10 minutes finding out after staff advised me of which ones to try). Shame. All in all a great wee place to lay your head. Will work better once the cafes open earlier nearby. Read more
