As a frequent business traveller to Johannesburg, I normally stay at the other hotels in the area such as Radisson Blu or Park Inn Sandton. During my last private trip to Sandton, I've decided to try something new. Upon arrival, I had a first bad impression at reception. The receptionist seemed to be very cold and didn't spend any time explaining the […] facilities in the hotel. As we got to our room, I was confronted with a sequence of bad experiences: 1) We've booked a room with double occupation, but only one set of towels was available. 2) By trying to hopelessly find a phone directory in the room or any evidence on how to contact reception, I ended up going down to reception on my own in order to ask for another set of towels. 3) During and after the first shower, we've noticed that the shower drain was congested. Again, we had to speak to reception (by now they had given us at least the extension number for it) and ask them to solve our problem. With all the trouble we went through, they gave us another room and we had to pack our stuff in order to move. Unfortunately there is no Hotel-Guide / Phone Directory in the rooms explaining anything about the hotel and how its facilities work. By checking out, I was asked how our stay was and I gave my feedback. The rooms are very nice, modern and were very clean as well, but I can't recommend this hotel and will unfortunately not come back again. They are no yet prepared to offer a 5 star service, as announced and expected. Read more

I think WIFI should be in full scale a complimentary item to the accommodations because that is what is obtainable in the industry. And also, I guess breakfast should be an option too and a customer is billed for it.

Rooms that face into the courtyard where the swimming pool and the restaurant are may suffer a bit from noise but otherwise I found this place excellent. The rooms were lovely but not all had views (some windows face walls) but the complimentary laundry service was great, the facilities excellent and the staff were very friendly. The room allocated from the original booking was inferior, small and had no outside window. However, on requesting a better room and paying a huge amount more we were moved to an apartment which was what we thought we had reserved in the first place. Really 5 star!

maybe i should have asked for an upgrade [what price?] but the room i had was no more than a clean prison cell. perhaps the architect should be shot but on the other hand this is one way of using up spare cupboard space. one small window looking onto the passageway so blind down all the time. tiny tiny room. also, simply not convenient for the Sandton […] Convention Centre. R60 through the Josie traffic. R140 for breakfast is a joke as well but the staff very efficient and friendly. Read more

Unfortunately, 20 West is not all that nice as I had expected it to be. I had read positive reviews and was hoping to find a nice comfortable place that would be an ideal place in Johannesburg. The room I was given was a little bigger than a closet (room 316B) - the promised amenities were not there (DVD Player). The worst part was that there was construction […] going on...and at 8:00am for the 2 days I was there, right in front of the main entrance to my room, the contractors were out and breaking the floor tiles so that they could replace them. I enquired from the reception and they said that they did not know till the last moment that there was construction going to take place!!! very hard to believe. Overall, I was not satisfied with the place and next time would definitely avoid it. Read more

Le séjour était globalement bon, mais certains détails font de cet hotel un 3 etoiles. Par exemple les femmes de chambre reveillent les clients à 7h du matin pour faire le ménage. Si on dort encore, ne reviennent pas ( 2x, ma chambre n'etait pas faite à 19h, j'ai dû rouspéter.) le wifi n'est pas gratuit de façon illimité et quand on achète un vaucher, […] il n'est valable que sur un seul device à la fois! Le restaurant est correct mais le service n'est pas top. Le personnel n'est pas très professionnel. La piscine est géniale, légèrement tiède. La salle de sport contient des équipement de qualité. O hotel é muito bom, contudo, na nossa reserva dizia que teríamos vista do jardim e da cidade, o que não ocorreu. Ao invés disso, nos foi oferecido um quarto no andar térreo, com janela virada para o corredor com trânsito de pessoas.

No geral o hotel e bom e há conforto. Problema e que esta a meias com apartamentos comprados pelos donos que sao membros da direcção do hotel. E um Grego foi extremamente antipático e gritou connosco por nossa filha ter caído no chão do Hotel. Extremamente rude e antipático. E o único risco, de resto foi muito bom.

O atendimento dos funcionários deste hotel foi muito ruim, não nos ajudaram em nada sobre o que fazer na região e ainda deram dicas erradas. Só estavam interessados em vender "tours"" pela cidade. Não tem nada perto e não dá para sair na rua a pé. Apesar de o quarto ser muito bom, não voltaria de maneira alguma.
