went on a short break with my wife and two children, on arrival at 2 pm we were told the chalet would not be availiable until 4 pm even though our booking form said two pm,staff were quite rude when i questioned this. On arrival to the chalet which resembled a block of prison barracks, were confronted with a room with plastic school chairs at the table,a […] plastic /leatherette sofa which was masquerading as the only double bed. In the kichen area we stuck too the floor due to someone spilling drinks on it previosly, and could only walk in the area after my wife cleaned it.....this is after having to wait two hours for the cleaning to be completed. Overall the accomadation is very poor quaility and not worth the money,the whole complex is grubby and depressing ,the evening entertainment consists of silly games , ie: glamourous granny etc until about 11 pm when u might get the compere whos draged out mind numbin rubbish for the last four hours trying to be some one famous. When we came to our room, it's not been clean, the toilet was disgusting, the room smells cigarette( really not good at all especially we have kids and we do not smoke).The bedroom had used bedsheet on it. This was the most disapointing experience we've had at any hotel. Billed as a "double bed with two twins", the double bed was actually the fold down sofa in the sparse "living" area. We had to make our own beds, towels had to be obtained at a distant location for a deposit and rental. On arrival, was able to check in within 10 minutes, arrived at the room and found that it had only been partially cleaned, there was insufficient bed linen and the baby cot pre booked was not there. Went to reception to complain, was told they would sort it and before I got back to the room there were 2 staff members waiting for me, and the problems […] were rectified. The resort was a little bit tired and could do with a facelift. The refectory was self service and kids ran amock. I found scampi in my custard and custard in the gravy. This actually helped make rather bland tasteless food a bit better. Overall, ideal for kids, there is a slot machine arcade attached to the entertainment venue and the older kids congregated there and cost a fortune in coins to keep them amused. Basically, this is a 1980's "working class" holiday throwback, complete with shabby amusements, dirty floors, broken facilites, and sullen and unfriendly staff. Our hearts sank when we arrived - the place looks fairly run down and shabby. This feeling was not improved when we went to check in. The staff seem to view guests as a nuisance! We were given […] a key in a little pack with a map of the facility, and told to observe the one way system. When we got to our room we found the floors were dirty (although everything else was pretty clean), there were no towels, no washing up stuff, and the electricity was off. Went back to reception to be told there was an electricity card included in the pack she gave me. Oh. And the towels were available from "accomodation services" - but they closed at 5, and only open at 9am. The floors, likewise, could only be cleaned by accomodation services the next day! (So I had to use my t-shirt as a towel the first night! And we all wore shoes until bedtime). Washing up/cleaning stuff you need to purchase from the shop, which closed at.....5pm! (Don't arrive after 5pm!) Went back, put the card in and got £5 of electricity (which was gone in a day!). To get more electricty you have to put 5 £1 coins in a machine to get another £5. There is NO facility for those without cash or the correct change. Good luck with that. Anyway, I had to drive 15minutes to the nearest open shop to buy things like washing up soap, cloths, a brush and dustpan for goodness sake!, and some supper and breakfast. (The "restaurant" served only lots of fried things - and by the smell of it used the same oil over and over again.) Positives were that the bed linen was clean, and the beds, although hard, were comfortable. The sleeper couch was ok for small children - adults would have struggled! We had high hopes for this site but they were quickly quashed. Our 'Club' apartment which I understand is premium - God help those in a lower grade apartment contained 5 dead wasps on the carpet in one of the bedrooms. The microwave door and top were thick with dust, the double bed mattress was stained as was the ironing board which looked as if something […] had been cremated on top!!! The shower only worked in spurts whilst there was dried urine on the toilet floor. Most of the facilities closed at six including the pool which provided little privacy for those changing for swimming. There were no laundry facilities on site and the evening entertainment was alcohol driven. On a more positive note the food was reasonable but could have been farmer. Finally 'Pontins promise you the holiday of your life' Maybe they do but certainly not a positive experience. Refurbishment is an urgent need for this site and we felt that the apartment could have been much cleaner had it been vacuumed. As it was it seemed to hane not been cleaned properly for some considerable time. Cleaning does seem to be an issue throughout the complex as there was significant littering around the park. During our three dat stay we never saw anyone cleaning the roads or pathways. Maybe other Pontin's Parks give you the holiday of your life but we can safely sat that whilst Prestatyn was an experience it was not a positive one and we won't return unless significant improvements are made.
