hotel was good and helpful. the receptionists weren't great the first day. they pretty much don't do anything to help you. however, we got free wifi for a week. the first 2 days they didn't change the towels until we asked them too. the tv sucked. best part about the hotel was that it was REALLY REALLLY close to the bangkok public transportation. great […] to get around and go places. if you cab it anywhere in bangkok, don't pay more than 100 baht for taxi. This is a good place to stay at if you need to be near Makkasan station or a little away from the hustle & bustle of Sukhumvit area. It is 10 min walk from the new Makkasan station to the airport, but also only a 5 min taxi ride to Asoke. There is now a 7-11 right next door. The hotel is still new, so it's clean. A one week stay here was most relaxing. The location was great. Five minutes from water taxis, metro and airport link. Fairly quiet neighborhood at night, so a good night sleep was easy. The bed was HUGE and very comfortable. A good restaurant was downstairs that offered an array of Eastern and Western foods. When in Bangkok again I will stay here.

It's location and price are the best factors. The staff was wonderful. You only get 15 minutes of free wifi, which is annoying. I had a late arrival and walked to the hotel from the makkasan train stop. But I had to ask directions because it was dark and you can't see the hotel from the train stop. I left the next day. I was very dissapointed with this hotel since I felt that the previous reviews sounded good. The hotel rooms looked like an old hospital that was turned into a "modern" hotel - very sterile! Unfortunately the room I had was still dirty (hairs in the shower, hairs in the bed). I had to pay for Internet (which shouldn't happen anymore) but it really only […] works with googling stuff since I couldn't get my emails or get online to Skype. After a long discussion with the hotel staff I finally got it off my bill, which was good. Unfortunately I was unpopular with the staff the rest of the stay. Luckily I got a good deal on hotels.com and didn't pay full price for this place and it doesn't make any sense to pay what they ask. I thought that it would be closer to the Makasan airport station than it actually is (about 10-15 min walk). It's close enough to Phetchaburi MRT station (5-10min walk), although there really is nothing else around the area. It's good that there is a 7-11 store downstairs. I got a room facing the room so some traffic noise does come in, be sure to ask for a room facing the back to avoid this. Clean, basic hotel close to metro and airport train stations. Concierge was particularly helpful finding us a local pool to visit and lending us her entry card. Perfect location if you are only in Bangkok for a couple of nights and need a clean, cheap central room.

For an establishment that's suppose to carry the Furama brand name... all I can say is that FX Makkasan is more of a liability. The reception desk personnel are just functional, in that they do their job, but they don't make you feel welcome. No smiles, no words of welcome, no eye contact when you come back to the hotel after a day out. Surrounding […] area - dead. You need to take a taxi or MRT (Petchburi Stn) to see any action. Plus - point, walking distance to Makkasan Stn for the Airport Express 90THB or the Cityline train to and from airport 35BTH. and takes about 25 mins. Reasonable size room, very comfortable bed are plus but room cleanliness - the piece of plastic wrapper which I noticed lying under the luggage rack on my checking into the room was still there when I checked out 4 days later. Toiletries - soap, shampoo and bath gel, thats all. Shower - fantastic, truely enjoyable. Electric kettle - yes, tea, coffee, sugar, cups - nada. Fridge and bottled water - a very welcome yes. Overall, if you have zero expectations and want someplace to crash with the convenience to or from the airport, then FX would be fit the bill. Read more

This is my 2nd stay at FX Makkasan, during my first stay, the staffs were friendly and helpful, the room was clean and decorations were well-kept. However, in less than 8 months, I came back to this hotel and was given very bad service. Was carrying heavy luggages out of the hotel entrance and none of the staffs bothered to help. It was so different […] now, I guess it's because the last time when I visited, they were a newly opened hotel. As usual, the location is rather to the train station but if you were to take a cab, the cab driver will never know where exactly is your hotel. No nearby food stores or 7-11 except for a pathetic dimsum restaurant. Hotel was fine. Clean rooms, friendly staff and free internet. Location is poor for nearby places of interest and you have to get transport to restaurants as there are none close by that I saw, other than the Dim Sum place attached to the hotel.

Convenient if u travel by train, not if by taxi cause most taxi driver do not know the address, the map that provided by the hotel shoud have been written in thai not english. And there is no convenient shop in 50m radius. They dun have double bed, its just 2 single bed combined. If you not fussy, this hotel is ok, just dun expect too much.
