"Good location, easy to find"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 2, 2012
Overall we had a great stay here and would use Candlewood Suites again. The only complaint about the room is that I could not find an exhaust fan in the bathroom and it was needed. I had to open the bathroom door to let out the steam from the shower.

"Clean, Quiet and Comfy"
This is a fairly new hotel, and everything about it was great--from the room to the staff to the breakfast. Would DEFINITELY stay there again. The only thing I would change about this hotel is the fact that the pool was a little bit small, but other than that it was perfect.

"Des Moines H-I Express new, clean and attractive."
We were pleased at how new and clean this Holiday Inn Express was. The beds were comfortable (two queens) and the complimentary internet trouble free. It was also a plus to have a mini fridge. This is located in a developing section of Des Moines suburbia, which includes several chain restaurants within a couple of minutes drive (two in easy walking […] distance). The complimentary breakfast included passable scrambled eggs, bacon and biscuits & gravy as well as a machine that makes and dispenses pancakes, although I was already too full to try them (next time!). I did get to try one of the HIE trademark warm cinnamon rolls, however. I’d stay again. Read more

"Hotel in Urbandale, Iowa"
We really loved the Holiday Inn Express in which we stayed. It was a fairly new hotel, was very clean, and decorated very modernly. The only issue we had that was negative was the spotty wireless internet reception. Other than that, it was a great place to stay.
"Urbandale Holiday Inn Express"
Hotel was well kept Breakfast was good The only complaint I have is the rooms need a dehumidifier in them. It felt damp in the room similar to camping.
"Clean, brand new, friendly service"
When looking for a hotel, I tend to search out hotels that are new and generally prefer a newer, lower-star hotel to an older, higher-star one -- nothing, it seems, can rival a new, modern hotel. So when looking for a place to stay in Des Moines, I came upon this Holiday Inn Express (a chain of which I'm already a big fan) and was immediately sold. […] It is literally brand new (opened July 7 or 8, 2011), and it shows. The rooms are spotless and very comfortable; the management is fantastic and extremely friendly; and the complimentary breakfast is luxurious: eggs, bacon, biscuits, gravy, cinnamon rolls, etc. for the big appetite, and fruit, yogurt, cereal, juice, coffee, etc. for the smaller one. And it's ready early...and around 5 am early. Our room was on the first floor and was an "accessible" room, which meant that the shower accommodated a wheel-chair. This was not at all necessary for us (we are not handicapped; I just booked the cheapest room possible), but the shower was actually nice and spacious this way (plus nice tile, quality fixtures). The room was as quiet as a tomb (even though the hotel was supposedly full) and had everything one could want: free, wireless internet; a fridge for leftovers from a meal out; a flat-screen TV with cable, etc. It also had some things that are usually exclusive to higher-end hotels: the comforter was wrapped in sheets to ensure freshness and cleanliness; pillows of varying (and labeled firmness) for your comfort; and a very comfortable king bed. Plus the room is outfitted in dark wood and expensive-looking colors. We have absolutely no complaints. This is a fantastic hotel. If you stay here, you will wake up refreshed and probably even a little pampered! Read more
