We knew that this was not a typical hotel. It is apartments that are rented out individually. The decor, furniture, and everything in the room depends on the actual owner of the apartment. The owner of our apartment had not updated it in several years. It smell very musty and moldy. It was full of ants. The beds, oh my. It was like sleeping on nothing but the box springs. I think the tile floor would have been more comfortable. There is no free wifi. You have to pay 150 baht for 7 days, which wouldn't be bad, if it worked. It took me 3 logins just to write this review! Maid service is available only by request and it is a service you must pay for. You must pay to wash all your own towel plus buy all of your own toiletries. The upside is the size. After a week in a regular hotel room with my husband and 16 year old daughter, the 2 bdrm 2 bath was great! Having the ability to cook our own meals was great as well. Over all for the price, it wasn't awful. Then again, this is Thailand, you can get a much much nicer room for less money. Best part of the stay? Love Rain Restaurant (the chicken wontons rock!) and the short distance to the beach. It is beautiful! We probably would not stay here again unless in a pinch.

There is no service here, had to wait half an hour for someone to arrive at the reception. the rooms are smoking and no facility services. But on the good side, Kamala is probably one of the better beaches left in Phuket.

Shower and toilet didn't work. We didn't have hot water. We had to use cold water the all week. Fridge didn't work properly and we met big troubles to keep our food. First day we didn't have power in room. Toilet were leaking that is why we had bad smell in room all the time. All our requirements to fix the room met ignore.

The hotel is in walking distance to Kamala beach, easy to get a taxi, have a few supermarket and 7-11 nearby. Walking to restaurants, coffee houses, and massage. The room is a one bed room apartment layout, spacious but really too dirty for our standard.

Hotel rooms on the inside were as pictured. Nice, clean, and well presented. Our group stayed in two rooms and each were decorated differently, some better than others, so it's a lucky dip really i.e. We had a stereo, umbrellas, pool toys and even books on a bookshelf! The main reception staff was very helpful with great English, but when she wasn't on, the other receptionists struggled a little. They were always very smiley and friendly though. Cooking facilities, air conditioning, fan etc was great and clean. Cutlery, plates and washing up liquid all present. Directly on main road so easy to catch a tuk tuk to Patong Beach, as well as a short 5 min walk to Kamala beach. Would recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in Kamala, especially groups and families as the rooms are large and comfortable.

"It was as expected..."

We spent a week at the Club Residence. Our pick-up at the airport and check-in went very smoothly. The receptionist was very professional and friendly. The two-bedroom apartment we stayed in was okay. It definitely needs renovation as it seems a little tired. It also didn't feel 100% clean. We did enjoy the extra space and the cooking utilities. The bedrooms were nice and the beds were quite comfortable. The beach is close enough and we really enjoyed the large swimming pool on the grounds. It was also nice ordering food from the restaurant and eating in the garden. The paid wifi was really just a pain. You have to log-in after every five minutes. I wouldn't even bother with it. When you check-out, you will get a electricity, cleaning and laundry bill. The laundry bill is for the bedding used during your stay. Especially the laundry bill is ridiculously expensive. The charge 50 Baht a kilo for regular laundry but charge per item for bedding.

Stayed at club residence fot our first 5 nights in phuket before travelling to Bali. Booked through a letting company and was told wifi was included and electicity plus linen and towels changed every 3 days. Was disappointed when we were shown our room. We arrived late in the evening and were very tired asked straight away to pay for extra bed we had booked then were told we would have to pay for electric and wifi. I explained that we were told they were included. Room was very dated and not as clean as expected the whole place could have done with a lick of paint. Ended up paying for wifi the next morn but refused to pay for electricity. I assumed as they were serviced apartments we would have a light clean and at least toilet rolls supplied but no one came near us during our stay! The wifi was really poor! On the plus side the pool and the pool area was lovely, although there was never enough sunbeds! The beach at Kamala is beautiful and just a few minutes walk away. Willl not be staying at the club residence again tho!

"Great place if you're on a budget !"

I have stayed at The Club Residence twice already and and cant wait to head back in January 2014. Yes, the place is set back just off the main road but once inside its very quiet and peaceful. The two previous times I've been with my girlfriend and the other time my pal. My apt was on ground floor only 10 footsteps away from the pool...great for an early morning dip ! Surrounded with lush well kept gardens you couldnt ask for more. You have to remember, most of these apartments are privately owned...ours fortunately was fabulous, clean, everything you need...dishwasher, fridge, washing machine, tea/ coffee, kettle, flat screen tv, dvd player, cd player but I personally know the guy who owns it and he wouldnt have it any other way...he visits a few times a year and only rents it to close friends. I cant speak for the rest of them. There is a maid service if you require it but we just kept the place clean ourselves. It doesnt take much to make a bed and wash a cup ! There is a washing machine if you want to wash your t shirts but we just took them to a laundry round the corner...they even ironed them...very cheap. Kamala is a lovely place. When you come out of the Club Residence there are several bars / restaurants on either side of the road. Try the Aussie Bar for a ice cold beer and delicious burger ! Open early too for breakfast if you didnt want to make you're own in the apt. If you want to get to the beach...take a left out of the 'Club' then down a road for about 200 meters (10 mins walk max). The road also has a couple of bars en route and a cheap internet cafe which I used to check emails and stuff. If you want to phone home, purchase a phone card and use the phone box opposite the Club...much cheaper than using you're mobile. The beach is beautiful, cheap sunbeds and not as crowded as Patong with several places to eat and enjoy a drink. Some great sunsets to be seen. If you do want to venture in to Patong its about 10 min drive in a taxi/tuk tuk cost about 300 baht or do what I did and hire a moped for the week (cheap) if you cant be bothered to walk to the beach or get taxis to Patong !

"Desperately in need of renovation!"

The room had not been decorated for at least 10 years the way it looked! Cracks in the walls, dirty, dirty dirty! The shower head was just hanging there - it had been temporarily fixed with tape which was now also broken. Next to no water pressure making it impossible to shower properly. Despite my complaint nothing was done. The whole apartment was full of personal items from the owner making one feel like an intruder. The furniture was so old and grubby that I spent most of the time out of the place. Had I not have paid a week up front on the internet I would have moved out right away! Having said all of this, I have since found out that the rooms have different private owners. So some might take better care of their properties than others.

A trip went with family (adult children) with some friends. We stayed here for 5 nights. Once we got there it was clean, but it was stains on the sheets and our fridge was broken. Even our safety box was broken. We did not get much help from the staff, but it took our fridge and said it will come a new tomorrow. The next day we didn't get a new fridge so we had to switch rooms. Even there it was stains on the sheets but still okay clean. But during the week we lived there we had no cleaning. Is also right on the main road, so nothing to recommend for families as it is a bit down to the beach.

"It is not a resort neither a hotel"
01/04/13 Victoria L Tokyo
It was a trip planed in a couple of days during high season and this place was the most budget option for the solo taveler after all. That is why I was quite surprised to see how clean , huge and well furnished the apartment was. Another good thing about this residence is a pool which is located in a garden and that all rooms are facing it. The BIG disadvantage of this place is it' s location. It is located right along the main road and will take around 7-10 min walk to the Kamala beach along the road that doesn't have any sidewalks, so I wouldn't recommend this residence to families with small children under 12. In fact, the room didnt get cleaned there during the 10days stay even once (if your travel agent told you they do it every 3 days don't believe him) . You should also be careful when choosing this apartment if you are sensitive to the noise at night. The problem was NOT a sound of traffic it was an air conditioner ! Of course you have a control of your room's one but your neighbor's one is as well noisy! There's a mosquito net on the window and the nights were quite fresh for using it, on my opinion.

"Nothing special"
01/24/12 JForkman Knivsta, Sweden
We (two adults and two 2 children, 11 and 13 years old), stayed four nights at The Club Residence in January 2012. At first at least I was a little bit disappointed, because the place was located closer to the main-road than I had expected, and when going down to the beach there were many other resorts that looked much more attractive to us (probably much more expensive, too...). Nevertheless, the place turned out to be quite ok. It was located on the right side of the road, meaning we didn’t have to cross it to go to the beach, and the apartment was surprisingly noiseless when keeping the door to the balcony shut (and the fans off). We didn’t spend too much time in the apartment or in the pool-area but stayed most of the days on the beach, which was really beautiful. The apartment was clean and tidy and fully functionable, but the children complained that the extra-beds were not comfortable and I would also like to raise a warning that the water in the shower could be extremely hot. The apartment was booked for four persons, but I had the feeling it wasn’t really meant for so many persons. We only got three towels, the table inside seemed to be fitted for three persons only and the balcony was too small for four persons sitting comfortably there at the same time. We never had much to do with the personnel, but the ones we met seemed alright. The pool-area was quite small, but ok. To sum up, this place wasn’t too expensive and was quite ok but not more.

This is our second time staying at The Club & its still a nice place to stay, stayed here for 10 days on the top floor, a few stairs to climb but not too bad, pool was cleaned daily & we had no problems getting a sun bed when we went down for a swim at lunchtime, clean & spacious room, will definately stay here again next year.
