Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel - Bali

Spent two nights there in November 2012 in a two bedroom suite w/ two and a half baths. This was our first trip to Bali and after three nights in Ubud we thought to take in the Kuta experience as we were traveling with our 24 year old daughter and her boyfriend. We would probably pass on Kuta the next time around but the hotel was terrific. We ate dinner one night at the Teppan Bar and it was delicious with a fabulous setting on the beach. The breakfast buffet was unbelievable with anything you could think of on offer and lots of things you would never think of. Beachfront, close to the airport and quiet hotel. accesible too! The restaurants in the hotel are great. The Seafood buffet is excellent and must not be missed! Flight out of Bali was at midnight so the hotel allowed us to shower and get refreshed at the spa without charge.

It is an experience that I ever for being regular traveler. I booked a ocean view room and during checking in. The staff strongly stress to up grade my family to a family suite ( I suspect all the ocean view rooms were unavailable. Since a suite is an up grade, I took it but we waited for 2 hours in the lobby without getting our room because the guest […] of the family suite have not check out yet and the guests cannot be found. I am unhappy the hotel staff did not even bother to inform us until I approach them after 2 hours of waiting .. Finally, we was locate for a junior suite. We was again up grade to a family suite after we got into an junior for a night. We decided to stay one more night and I book my Ocean View room through expedia web site and was approved .. we again move into another room on the last night in the 2nd floor. I would say it is not much of a ocean view room when it was blocked by trees and all you see is the pool. Beside for moving for 3 times for a 4 night stays in a same Hotel. Beautiful lobby and pool. Big comfortable rooms. Great staff. Impressive breakfast. Convenient location. Not much to complain about. Highly reccommended although this is not the cheapest place in Bali it was well worth the cost for us. Looked like far better value than the super luxury places that cost much more.

I would like to say on an overall rating i would give the resort a 9/10 rating. Much better than the last hotel we stayed at in Bali. Great food selection at Breakfast with a fantastic view right up to the water! This is a hotel made for presidents and queens. We were very happy with our choice of hotel. The staff were very welcoming and eager to please. Our room attendant Stone created new towel animals each day for our enjoyment. The pool area was great for relaxing and again the staff were very attentive to any needs we had. Our only complaint was our room was situated on the right side of the hotel (even numbers) and therefore every night (Saturday night until 5am) we had a disturbed sleep from the extremely loud music coming from a night club next door. Very nice room and staff were always helpfull. We had a third person in our room and we got an extra solic bed for that person and not just a rollaway bed which was great. Cleanliness was great and the balcony was protected enough that even when it rained you could sit out and not get wet and enjoy the warmth. I had a wonderful stay with family at Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel. Impressed by their breakfast, wide variety, I can't even finish trying all types of food in a morning. Hotel is very spacious, big compound. We got free drinks voucher where we can enjoy our beer at night by the beach. Their seafood dinner buffet is really thumbs up! However we waited until 4pm but the room is not ready yet. Thus we asked our guide to bring us out & come back again at night. My husband and I and another couple spent 10 days there in August 2012. Each couple had an ocean view room. Room, grounds and pool area was all nice and clean. Sun lounges not so great. They were those white plastic ones with thin plastic cushion, not very comfortable. Also, very little poolside food and drink service. You had to get up and go to pool […] bar everytime you wanted something. Breakfast was very nice. Once you got your first cuppa, you had to get up and get your own, no refill was offered. Position of hotel was great, very convenient being next door to discovery mall and loved the bamboo across the road, great food, drinks, (bundaberg rum and bali cider) and fantastic staff. Also loved resort opening out directly onto beach. You could go for a walk and get straight down on beach without having to go through any street vendors. A lot of resorts are beachfront but do not have direct beach access. Plenty of room in resort, never felt crowded. Lobby bar great for afternoon tea or a latte after dinner. Read more

There are high trees planted on each corner side of the ocean-facing rooms so make sure you don't get those rooms when you make your reservation (unless you don't mind paying for a view that you don't get).
