"close to all must-see sights, great value!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 2, 2012
When I booked this hotel, I didn't expect a whole lot from this hotel because it was so cheap. But after staying there for the entirety of my trip, I have to say that it was the best value for my buck. The hotel is conveniently located in District 1 right next to Binh Thanh Market. It's location makes it convenient to walk to all the tourist sites such as he War Museum and the Reunification center. The service was great and I would defiitely stay there the next time I go.
"Would try them again, but need some improvements."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 2, 2012
Rooms are very nice and roomy, and good location. They could improve on their service and maintenance. The phone did not work in my colleague's room which was inconvenient for wake up calls, etc. My room had the vanity light burned out. Also, had trouble with my key card and they were very slow in responding. Breakfast was okay, but had much better at other hotel we stayed at earlier in our stay. I do like their rooms so would probably give them another chance and hope that the service/maintenance issues were a one time thing.

"Central Location and Good Price"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on Apr 25, 2012
It was a great value given the price and condition of the hotel. The hotel is quite small, but it is very clean. Staff is very friendly and willing to help. Very close to Ben Thanh Market, only a few blocks away.

"non-smokers avoid this place..."
i booked this based on my budget for the night and based on the previous guests review... There was mass confusion when we checked in. I'm not really sure why because my Vietnamese wife was doing all the talking. As I checked my email on their slow computers waiting for our room to be straightened out the 2 porters at the door sat on luggage trollys. […] One was sending a text message and the other had his flip-flop off and was picking at his feet. Is this the quality service that the previous reviewer mentioned?? The public areas were hot and smokey. The bed was and air-conditioning were ok but the location wasn't very good if you are a tourist looking to see the sights around the market... Breakfast was below average. Our previous 2 stays at the Blue Diamond for a similar price were FAR SUPERIOR. I wouldn't return to this hotel. Read more
"Value for money"
it was a surprise to find a true 3 star hotel. It was value for money, for those of consious budget travellers, this is it, staff polite, and with managable English. it'swalking distance to War museum, palace, and other sites, I would recomend to all my family and friends. Australian couple.
"Do not trust the pictures"
The pictures from the hotel are not significant for the rooms. Only 4 rooms face the street (read: light) the rest of the close to hundred rooms face directly into the wall of the buildings on each side of the hotel - only 10 feet away. We booked a room through the web site and paid extra to get higher standards (it was our honeymoon). On arrival we […] were shocked: the "superior" room was facing the wall of the neighboring building, the room was absolutely dark. We complained but was offered one of the 4 rooms facing the road (the junior suites) for 20 dollars extra per day. We agreed off course, since we could not get our money back. In one of the mornings the door suddenly went up and in came completely stranfers; guests who had also been promised the room - not so nice when one was in the middle of being romantic as newly weds are hoping for. We made a remark of this to the reception, who completely ignored us. We believe it is OK to make mistakes, but the least you could do is to admit it and try to make amends. The reception completely ignored this and the entire staff was more focused on reading SMS or playing games on their mobile phones than delivering service to their guests. Not so nice. We cannot understand how this hotel can have three stars, it definitely does not deserve more than 2. Read more
