1 Lexham Gardens Hotel - London

1 Lexham Ave had a good location in terms of restaurants, Earls Court tube and laundry and ever day necessities. The hotel is somewhat old and has that old moldy scent. Overall it was clean, the bathroom was small, but for one night we slept comfortably. The breakfast was sufficient and the staff was nice.

Three sides of the bed were hard up against the walls of the room. Step on to the room floor and you were in the shower!. Tiny windows near roof couldn't be closed which meant pigeon serenading all night long!

The price is very affordable for the location, literally walking distance to the museum district and Harrod's shopping. The room is clean, nice bathroom fixtures clean carpet and tile. We thought we found a great deal when we found this hotel, in such a good location for such a good rate. Should have known it was too good to be true. Perhaps the experience wouldn't have been so bad if we were in a better room, but we were downstairs, below ground floor, and the room was barely large enough for the double bed. The bed felt like springs […] without a mattress, and the shower didn't drain and pooled up all the time. There was barely any room for two adults in the room, but we made it work. Also, the hotel's wi-fi is only accessible from its lobby and many guests huddled there for internet access. We did not have the included breakfast as it was only continental so cannot rate the food. The hotel was in a really good location. close to the subway. The room was okay but on the basement level and there was a funny sewage smell in there on the first day. The beds werent the most comfortable but for the price you pay... There was a basic breakfast but it was nice to have breakfast provided.

The room was a nice size. The staff was really friendly. However, in our room we found used pantyhose, prescription meds and over all unclean. The carpet needs to be cleaned or replaced the walls need to be fixed. The hotel was in a nice location.

The location of the hotel is good. However the interior is in desperate need of some fresh paint, new carpet. The bathroom was not overly clean. The shower water was tepid. After complaining to reception they did something with the boiler and said we had to wait 15 mins for it to heat up.I would not stay there again.

We had low expectations and were kind of just hoping for the best. The hotel is in a great location + 5mins walk from the tube. The hotel is somewhat "run down" and needs a general facelift (new windows, internal doors reception desk etc). Upon arrival the receptionist wasn't friendly and was more interested in her food delivery than checking us in. […] We also had to pay a £5 deposit on the doorkey-card in case we were to lose it. Walking up the stairs the staircase/hallway is in need of a lick of paint which leaves you feeling a bit grotty. The hallway on the first floor smelt like smoke too which is probably trapped into the wall and would disappear with refurbishment. We stayed on the first floor and the room smelt clean (unlike the hallway). We found the room size ok, small but not as bad as reviews led us to believe (it's London after all). It was a "small" double with modern furniture, the floor however was stained which made the room look worse and the window and blinds need replacing desperately. The bed sheets were plain white and looked clean. There were two neatly presented towels (bath& hand) with some complementary shampoo& soap. Straight after this we checked the bed sheets to make sure inside was completely clean, we were not disappointed. Inspection of the bathroom reviled a modern/clean area. The window was broken in the room I was given and an old sheet was pinned as a curtain. This made my night very uncomfortable. The overall room was basic and shower facility below average the shower was too hot to shower in. Thermostat was definetly broken and the radiator didnt work.

I would rate this hotel at a 2 star level. It was clean and the staff worked very hard but the room is small and the beds were not very comfortable. The internet was slow or not working at all. Reception staff were very friendly and efficient (and allowed me to check in early). The room I had was awful - horrid, uncomfortable bed, mouldy shower, musty smell throughout the room and the room was very, very warm (no air con). My rate included a basic breakfast which was a welcome addition. I wouldn't stay here again.

Everything was fine But there were 2 problems: 1. The room was too small, The bed occupied more than half of it (even including the bath!) 2. The window was very old with single glass, so noise and hit (it was one of those rare days in london) were getting in the room.
