"Ok if you like stairs"
Be ready to haul your bag up at least 2 flights of stairs! Pretty good location, but a conversion of 2 old houses leaves some parts of the hotel being pretty nice and some being pretty shabby. Due to a booking snafu, I stayed in 2 different rooms the 2 nights I was there, which meant that I had to haul my bag up and down the stairs repeatedly. But I […] can tell you that the rooms are not all equal - some being quaint in a good way, and some having a shower door that was falling off. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
My only complaint is that I only stayed one night! This hotel is an old Victorian brownstone that's been renovated. The staff was extremely helpful and polite, and the hotel had all the charm reflected in the pictures. Make sure, if you bring a car, you reserve parking with the hotel in advance. This was not clear to me when I made the reservation. […] This hotel does not have its own lot, so a parking space needs to be reserved in advance for all guests who need one from a parking garage nearby. I lucked out, though - there was parking available on the street, so I could leave my car right out front for free. The room was adorable, and breakfast the next day provided a lot of great choices. One important note: this hotel is not handicapped accessible. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Manoir Ambrose in Montreal"
This is a great place for access to Crescent Street for nightlife, museums, and shopping in St Catherines. Nice and quiet with a good plentiful breakfast.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Excellent location & value"
Close to all downtown shopping, museum, Mount Royal, McGill etc. Helpfull, friendly staff. Great, very quiet room.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Convenient, clean, inexpensive. A great deal."
I was here for two nights and had a nice, quiet stay. This appears to be a conversion from apartments or other housing. My room was reasonably large and the bathroom had a full shower/tub. Everything was clean and white. You must be able to climb stairs to stay here; a flight to get in the front door, another one or two to get to your room. Staff goes […] home at night and you’re given a key to the front door. Breakfast was continental: Several breads, a few fruits, yogurt, hard cooked eggs, coffee, juice. There were several restaurants within a short walk and McGill University is one block away. Can be accessed from the YUL airport by a $8 bus ride (bus #747) and a ten minute walk. "Great location, nice and different rooms"
Bed was better than most, heating was very nice and easy to adjust, staff was friendly. Only downside was that our view was of a brick wall and that there was a good amount of noise coming from hallways/other rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Cozy, economical lodging"
I had a short and sweet stay here, but the staff were pleasant and informative, Internet reliable, breakfast served starting at 7:00, clean rooms with comfy beds and character. Soundproofing wasn't excellent, but overall it was a good stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location for the price"
Very cheap option for staying in Montreal. Pros: Cost, decent continental breakfast, friendly staff, great location. Cons:the shower was pitiful with no pressure, and hotel was rundown and a little messy. Overall still impressed as the main criteria for the trip were cost and location. If you are looking for fancy or great amenities, this is not the […] place. I highly recommend this place for people on a budget that are not looking for the rowdiness and lack of privacy that are common place of a hostel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"close to museum"
enjoyed thoroughly, renos are probably in order. a lot of the hotel had a shabby look , textured stucco always looks like its trying to hide something. with a little work it could be much better.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Absolutely wonderful! My husband and I stayed here while on honeymoon. The staff are so friendly and eager to offer assistance. The room was cozy and very warm when it was -20 outside. The only small thing was dragging our suitcases up and down the stairs. But this wasn't really a problem for us. Five stars from mr and mrs Hanniffy! We will be back […] for sure!! "Does the job and close to downtown"
Front desk staff very helpful. Safe and clean place to sleep. Very spacious room. Room could do with some maintenance and bathroom is a bit cold but there is a heat lamp. Free wifi and street parking nearby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed over 30-31 Dec & 1 Jan. First morning breakfast was nice, but it deteriorated over New Year's eve and New Year's Day. First they were out of croissants and potatoes.Last morning, eggs & potatoes were uncooked.Genuine Expedia guest review

"Terrific Location- Great Value"
Overall we were satisfied, excellent location in the heart of downtown. Although we were out and about most of the time, we did notice that there was no cable in the room as advertised.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very nice hotel"
Excellent customer service. Good sized room, very clean. Limited parking. Quite place. The best you can get for the price. This hotel is now my favourite place to stay in downtown Montreal.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great bed and room"
I really see a hotel as a clean place to sleep and get ready for the next day, so if you want fancy decor or great window views, this is not your place. If you are looking for a very comfortable bed and a clean room with a gGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best value in Montreal's Golden Mile"
A bed and breakfast that is a short walk away from Montreal's vibrant downtown, two blocks from museums and fine restaurants. It's a B&B that has the charm of a higher end Euro hostel, renovated from two Victorian-era townhouses. A bit of the Plateau in Mile End.Genuine Expedia guest review
Wanted an alternative to the big high rise hotels. Though this is actually two converted houses, with an air of Faulty Towers to the staircase layout, the room was large and more than adequate. It was a quiet neighbourhood. Mattress was extremely comfortable with 4 choices of pillow firmness, enough to satisfy anyone's tastes. Internet was a single […] PC in the piano room just off reception. Reception closed at 11:00 but the alternative key provided allowed me to enter the hotel after 11:00pm with no problem. Only a short 10 minute haul of the suitcase to the 747 express bus to the airport (cost $9 CAD one way), down on Rene Leveques Ave and Peel, all downhill from the hotel. "Convenient to Amenities"
The Hotel from the outside was beautiful, and appeared very "boutique" like, however, inside, it was a bit disappointing The building itself is beautiful, with amazing architecture, but had really dated décor. It could be so beautifully glammed up to be so much more. Although, a convenient downtown location, if you were not one of the very lucky few […] to get a parking spot, you were left to figure that out, and pay for it, on your own. The room was very clean, however, had no extras. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great hotel that is reasonably priced"
As a 3 start hotel this is a good hotel. I needed something near McGill university and this was perfect as it was a couple of blocks away. The room was clean and spacious. The down comforter was very comfortable and there was a large TV. Only complaint was the water from the faucet was cold but I turned it on for while and the water became hot. There […] was no issue with the temperature of the shower water. The free breakfast is basic but fine, it was composed of bread, jam, hard boiled eggs, cereal and good coffee. Overall a great deal considering the price and the location as nearby hotels cost 2-3X more. The staff were very helpful. I called asking about parking and they had a spot open so she reserved it for me. They only have 4 parking spots in the back so they can't accommodate everyone during high season. The staff at Hotel Ambrose were lovely and helpful. Location is great. We checked in early, which was nice, however because of this some of the cleaning details were looked over (e.g. dirty facecloth was left in the bathroom). As with most Expedia deals, we ended up in one of the less desirable rooms. Ours was right at the base of the main staircase, […] on the main floor, behind the desk. It was extremely noisy. Our view was a fire escape and the bathroom was miniscule and didn't appear to be part of the original design -- more like an afterthought. Overall, it was just an "ok" stay. Not terrible but don't have great expectations. And don't expect to sleep well if it's busy. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Charming, clean, character!"
Parking and check-in is a bit confusing as its not at this hotel but rather at the sister hotel across the street. Once checked in, everything was easy. Remembering you are in the ancient part of Old Québec city helps in understanding you are not at a motel 6. I found my room clean, comfortable with old charm and character. Really enjoyed this hotel […] and would easily recommend to friends. Nice walk out balcony to chairs and small table to enjoy the ambiance. "Just the place that was needed!"
Great little place. A converted Victorian walk-up. There are no elevators, but that didn't really matter. The place was well maintained and had all of the essential amenities needed for a place to stay at night while spending your days "out and about." We reserved 2 rooms; each of the rooms had their own unique charm and were very clean. "Great place, great price.. Perfect for us!"
We read the reviews of this hotel before staying and were expecting less actually. The complimentary breakfast offered more selection then was suggested with coffee (which was delicious), tea, cereals, toast, muffins, crassants, and fresh fruits and orange juice. The spiral stair case was a little daunting after a day of walking but we just laughed […] it off and wouldn't stop is from staying here again. The room was just big enough for two adults to be comfortable. The bed was very comfy and the shower was hot with good pressure, two things I look for! Also, free cable with English channels :) within walking distance to St. Catherins street and the bell centre which was perfect for us. The staff was very polite and seemed genuine in their concern for your stay in making sure you have everything you need. Parking was close and at $15 a day (come and go as you please) was the cheapest we could find anywhere in the area.. And, it was covered and protected from the elements. We felt safe walking the area and can't wait to go back. We would absolutely recommend this place to our friends. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

Good location for the price, very friendly hotel staff. Hotel with character, including spiral stairs which are a daily wokout if on the third floor, small room, and even smaller shower. Breakfast is barely worth a mention, consisting of tiny croissants and hard boiled eggs - no jam or butter provided.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Great location! Not fancy, but clean. Friendly staff, quiet room. Difficulty changing the temperature of the water in the shower. Overall, I liked my experience and I would recommend.Genuine Expedia guest review
