"Very Cute Place!"
It was a very short stay for us but we loved it! Aside from the absence of the elevator to bring your stuff to the second floor, everything was great! The location of the hotel is terrific as it is very close to the main night life scene of the city. Complementary breakfast was very good and super handy!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Manoir Ambrose ,Montreal Canada .Train Stopover"
We stayed Two separate nights Feb.2&6 in two separate main floor rooms. This was our Amtrack stopover to and from the Winter Carnival in Quebeck. Both rooms were clean and charming with high crown moulded ceilings, comfortable beds and plenty of room.Staff was friendly ,helpful and personable. We had no car, but taxi stand was only 50 ft. down the street.University […] area, so lots of places to eat within walking distance. We will have no problem staying there again, but note this is an older hotel with no elevator... "Old-World Boutique Hotel Experience"
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Manoir Ambrose during the second week of January. Neither one of us had ever been to Montreal, and as we are both students in our late twenties, we were looking for something affordable but also charming, and also a place that made access to the rest of the city easy: Manoir Ambrose fits all of those qualifications to […] a tee. We opted for the "classic double" room and although it was small it had everything we needed for our 4 night stay: a desk, a small sitting area with Victorian style chairs, a double bed with a warm and very clean down comforter and pillows, and a small yet clean bathroom with a tub/shower combo. The room was very warm with a new heating element on the wall and we had one window to the outside. Our little room made us feel as though we were really in the "Paris of North America" as many people have nick-named Montreal. Although many reviewers have given the lack of elevator negative remarks, the stairs were not a problem for us at all--based on the reviews we were expecting a tower of stairs up to the third floor (where our room was) but they were very moderate victorian stairs with maybe only 20 steps for each level--not bad at all. Finally, the Manoir Ambrose has truly captured and maintained a lot of the beauty of its old Victorian past--all of the moldings are gorgeous and the breakfast area is bright and cheery and well-appointed with a selection of foods to please even the pickiest of eaters. The concierge staff was friendly and warm and even allowed us to eat breakfast when we arrived 15 minutes after the closing hour of 10:30am. We will certainly stay at Manoir Ambrose on all of our return trips to this wonderful city. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
The room we stay in was small but there are bigger rooms available. It was right downtown where everything is. The room was clean. The front desk was friendly and I enjoy my stay there. I would definitely recommend a friend to stay thereGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"It is ok"
This hotel is nice, but take note that it is located in the old brownstone building with no elevator. This means you are lugging your suitcase up the steep narrow winding staircase all the way to the third floor. The rooms are nice, with all the basics, but heat is provided by hot-water pipes, so you can't control the temperature in the room. The woman […] running the place (at the desk, Toni) is very nice and knowledgeable about the area - she is a great person to talk to about things to see or places to eat. "Well worth the money for Montreal"
A good small hotel, a bit aged (faded carpet, wires stuck to the wall, not inside), but comfy. Good friendly service, a very decent breakfast and well worth the money, compared with what my colleagues paid elsewhere. If you don't mind the stairs up, go for it.Genuine Expedia guest review
this place was cute clean and the staff was great. Much more charming than the chain hotes. i will be staying there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming, reminded us of our Paris trip"
Room was very clean, the woman at the reception desk was very helpful, the location was great. We were able to leave our car and not be burdened with it. The location was in walking distance to downtown.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very disappointing .... The service at the front desk was terrible...dirty hallways ......the key to the room did not work..... I would never go back to this hotel again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Enjoyed my stay"
Hotel is just off the main street, so nice and quiet but still a convenient location. The hotel itself is very nice, staff were great, the only thing was that my curtains didn't quite close all the way.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
With rating systems, the hotel real rating is lost because it's location is superb, but hotel should be shut down. Stinky room, not clean towels, carpet is 500 years old and filthy, windows never cleaned, things lay around on the floor in corridors .,,, some 2 stars hotels in Asia would rank much higher than this and not sure how they got approval from […] government of Quebec! "Came for the Habs game"
Came down from Toronto for the canadiens game. I booked last minute and was surprised by the Victorian style of the hotel. Minor things can be improved, otherwise reminded me of staying in a dorm. I had to let myself in after 11 because the front desk was closed. My stay overall was ok no major complaints. The staff was great very friendly.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Reasonable price and close to train station"
The bed was incredible but I did notice peeling bubbles of paint on the high ceiling. I was late for the complimentary breakfast, everything was already empty except for the dredges of the cereal box.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
was in Mtl for a hockey game so looking for something central. It was very close to everything. The room was small and quaint but nicely furnished with comfortable bed. No elevator and we were on top floor. Nice older style with great staff, very friendly and helpful!Genuine Expedia guest review
The hotel was decent. The actual building itself could definitly use some updating, but the superior room i stayed in was very clean and comfortable. Had a great stay...wonderful atmosphere....felt like I was in a Parisian hotel. Only reason for 4 star is the lack of air conditioning in bedrooms in summer.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Very pleasant stay with great location"
We enjoyed the hotel for the price range it was offered at. Clean rooms, comfy bed and romantic deep soaking bathtub with room for 2... Breakfast was nothing special, but also nothing wrong with it. Staff was quite friendly and location is unbeatable. Close to everythingGenuine Expedia guest review

The staff were most helpful on arrival and departure. The continental breakfast was a pleasant surprise - good coffee!Genuine Expedia guest review
"Friendly and pretty, but with considerable issues."
1. Receptionists were as friendly and helpful as can be. 2. They wouldn't comment on how often this happens, but Expedia's system has some issues with booking to this hotel. Ambrose had no records of my booking, but luckily i had the confirmation e-mail saved on my phone. The receptionist just had to make some calls and 10 minutes after i got my room […] 3. They give you a remote for the AC, which would be super if the AC would respond to the remote. The shower's water would be glacial or scalding hot. 4. Room has a huge widescreen tv with cable box. We had nice windows with wide window stills where you could sit and chill. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location, nice and different rooms"
Bed was better than most, heating was very nice and easy to adjust, staff was friendly. Only downside was that our view was of a brick wall and that there was a good amount of noise coming from hallways/other rooms.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming hotel just off of downtown Montreal"
When we checked in, the receptionist Sheila was extremely helpful. She was very knowledgeable and would point out different points of interest. Breakfast was included with the price, but it is very simple. It included mini croissants, mini potatoes, boiled eggs, toast, cereal, and some fruits. "Excellent location with some parking available."
The hotel is undergoing renovations and so it might appear tired in some places; our room was small but sparkling clean, new bathroom, comfortable bed and crisp white sheets. We found the staff most pleasant and helpful; at one point someone was in our parking spot and one of the construction workers helped us to get it sorted out. Would recommend.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cozy, economical lodging"
I had a short and sweet stay here, but the staff were pleasant and informative, Internet reliable, breakfast served starting at 7:00, clean rooms with comfy beds and character. Soundproofing wasn't excellent, but overall it was a good stay.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Great location for the price"
Very cheap option for staying in Montreal. Pros: Cost, decent continental breakfast, friendly staff, great location. Cons:the shower was pitiful with no pressure, and hotel was rundown and a little messy. Overall still impressed as the main criteria for the trip were cost and location. If you are looking for fancy or great amenities, this is not the […] place. I highly recommend this place for people on a budget that are not looking for the rowdiness and lack of privacy that are common place of a hostel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Simple accommodations in good location"
This hotel is in an old house in a great area. It has loads of character. The bedding is nice and the breakfast is not bad. But the building overall feels quite sad and run down. A simple coat of paint and some minor renovations would go a long way to make this hotel a more pleasant experience.Genuine Expedia guest review

enjoyed thoroughly, renos are probably in order. a lot of the hotel had a shabby look , textured stucco always looks like its trying to hide something. with a little work it could be much better.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Absolutely wonderful! My husband and I stayed here while on honeymoon. The staff are so friendly and eager to offer assistance. The room was cozy and very warm when it was -20 outside. "Best value in Montreal's Golden Mile"
A bed and breakfast that is a short walk away from Montreal's vibrant downtown, two blocks from museums and fine restaurants. It's a B&B that has the charm of a higher end Euro hostel, renovated from two Victorian-era townhouses. A bit of the Plateau in Mile End.Genuine Expedia guest review
Wanted an alternative to the big high rise hotels. Though this is actually two converted houses, with an air of Faulty Towers to the staircase layout, the room was large and more than adequate. It was a quiet neighbourhood. Mattress was extremely comfortable with 4 choices of pillow firmness, enough to satisfy anyone's tastes. Internet was a single […] PC in the piano room just off reception. Reception closed at 11:00 but the alternative key provided allowed me to enter the hotel after 11:00pm with no problem. Only a short 10 minute haul of the suitcase to the 747 express bus to the airport (cost $9 CAD one way), down on Rene Leveques Ave and Peel, all downhill from the hotel.
