I've stayed at the Charlee four times this year, and the staff is always outstanding. Edwin is particularly deserving of praise, as he's always attentive, friendly and helpful. Rooftop bar and restaurant is one of the hot spots in the city on the weekends and Wednesday nights, when live music is normally scheduled. First night at the hotel decided to go up for some drinks to the roof top bar Envy at about 10PM and it was closed for the night because they had it rented for a wedding reception. We had no choice but to go to the quiet bar on 2nd floor or go out to the street to other bar. Day 2 we decided to go to the pool at about 4PM which is on the roof top and […] we were told by the bartender sorry the pool is closed for 2 days because we added some cemicals to it as a result of the wedding reception the day before. The gym is open to the public if you have a membership so be prepared to workout with other people not staying at the hotel. The double queen bed room is small for the price. It's about the same size as the balcony it has. Felt pretty cramped in there. The sink in the bathroom is a rock looking bowl which makes it very difficult to brush your teeth and when you wash your hands is splashed all over you. The staff is great and the hotel is very pretty and well kept, but we felt like it's a 50/50 with how they treat the guest and how they also want to please the people that come to the gym and renting out the club. I've never seen a hotel gym that is public and you constantly have people in and out like an LA Fitness. oh, and the bathroom floor is made of white rocks which could be rough on your feet. The friend "female" I shared room with hated taking a shower because her feet would hurt. Also problems with front desk staff not answering phone when calling them. Read more

The noise is unbearable at night, especially on weekends or holidays where they use fireworks. I stayed in a Spice Suit in the 9th floor and you could still hear competing discos outside trying to play louder music than their neighbors. Besides, the hotel has a loud bar on the roof. The rooms are nice, but the staff could do a lot better.

I stayed for the weekend and a s soon as I arrived I was greeted by Johny. He was very friendly and everything was great except the noise from Parque lleras. I contacted the front desk to change rooms because i couldn't sleep because of the club music next door to no avail. I hope to travel to Medellin again, but only if I could get some sleep.

While the Hotel Charlee is probably the best hotel in Medellin. (Located right in the heart of Parque Lleras' restaurants, bars, shopping and clubs.) The quality of people coming in and out has really gone down. We stayed there last year and it was amazing! There was always someone checking people at the door, and not allowing strangers to come in. […] There was a pool party that lasted the entire day and night at the hotel on Sat. and it was challenging to get into the hotel, while WE WERE PAYING TO STAY THERE! I think when hotels are trying to be what the are NOT it can never be good. They say they have fitness facilities - THEY DONT, they say the have a pool side bar - Yes, but ALWAYS CLOSED, THEY say they have onsite discotec - CLOSED, they say they have 2 restaurants - lets call it a 1/2 as the list of 5 items on the main menu can almost not be called […] a restaurant. Overall I was very unpleased with my stay and I did not find the poeple working there helpful. Sourrounding are very noisy which I know but still as a hotel it should not be so poorly isolated. it is some kind of a hippy arty farty place where as said before, they are trying to be something they cant cope with. It finally made it the worst stay ever when it took me 30 min to check out (to pay 1 sandwich) and then 20 min to wait for the taxi after that. I WILL NEVER STAY HERE AGAIN. Read more

Location is great. Some may think the noise from the clubs is a little loud but it was not an issue for me. Families may prefer somewhere a little quieter. Overall a great hotel with all the appropriate facilities and the roof-top is great for a lazy sunny day.

The hotel is in a fun neighborhood but it gets really loud on the weekend. So if you are not up for weekend fun you will find this area very loud. A good solution would to bring ear plugs. The Charlee was a dichotomy for me. Some things I loved and some things I hated. The good and the great: - Location. It would frequently […] crash or be offline and was so slow the majority of the time even just to open the BBC webpage far less something like Youtube. This really is unforgivable in this day and age and for been in the centre of Medellin. If I had to work using the internet it would have been completely impossible. Business travellers be aware!!! When challenged the staff just smiled and said they would try to reboot the system, which didn't do anything - I knew the location might mean the hotel was slightly noisy, particularly at weekends. I was fine with this given the benefits of the the location. What really annoyed me though was the hotel also played piped music to a speaker right outside my door right through the night. Lets start with the positives... This Hotel is very chic and cool, with great decor, great room service (food was delicious), and an outstanding location right in parque surrounding tons of restaurants, shops, etc. As for the negative. Upon checking in our room was unnaturally hot, turning on the AC it was not working and did not work for the night/following […] day. After speaking w/ the front desk they said they didn't have anything else available w/ the jacuzzi like we had (due to a large art gallery event going on). That wasn't going to work, they called back 20 minutes later and said they had one that they'll clean up and have ready in 30 minutes. They transferred us after about 30 minutes to a new room that was just barely cooler (but anything was better than the oven of a room we were in). All-in-all, the experience was a 3.5/5 although their bedsheets are like thin pieces of cardboard. It is however worth the location. Also warning - find out the price of laundry before you get it done, it adds up very quickly! Read more
