"Great Location and Service"
Stay every year and never disappointed. Lovely old hotel that is having a few changes/upgrades so will be even better when we go back. Staff are lovely. Swimming pool and leisure facilities are looking a bit tired but as they are upgrading all of this it should look amazing when we go back next year. Love the addition of the ostrich and llamas, with […] the peacocks wandering around it is lovely going for a walk in the grounds. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Would stay again"
I was pleased with everything from the room and bed comfort to the receptionist making suggestions about what to do the evening we had there. Beautiful countryside and ferry access to Pembrook just a short drive away. The food in the resturantwas good and the continental breakfast (not included) was reasonably priced.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Stop over to Ferry"
Ideal location as 5 minutes to the Ferry terminal. Quiet with peaceful sleep. Night porter looked after me as arrived late.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Useful for the Ferry"
The hotel was about ten minutes from the Rosslare Ferry Terminal so was well placed for an early morning check in. However being on the main road it was fairly noisy - all night!. The hotel service, room and food were well up to standard and not overly expensiveGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"good hotel near ferry"
The hotel and room were very good. The quality of service was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful throughout. The bar food was mediocre and not up to the standard of the rest of the hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The extractor fan at rear of hotel made the room stink of cooking oil. We could not open the window as a result, making the room very hot. The breakfast area was badly organised and poorly staffed; we ended up in the bar and were completely ignored for tea/coffee. I would not stay there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
We stayed for one night so we could catch the ferry to fishguard early. The price was very reasonable foe 2 adults & 3 kids (€116) we enjoyed our stay the room was lovelyGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Danby lodge rosslare"
This was a lovely place to stay staff were excellent as was the room- we arrived late so it was quite dark and not being from the area would have been handy for a little more lighting or signage coming from the rosslare harbour direction but the stay was very enjoyable and would be happy to use them againGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice place to stay"
We were very pleased with our choice of accommodation. The receptionist was very nice and welcoming. The rooms were big rooms and also cosy and warm. I would have no hesitations in recommending this hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Best Western Certainly NOT the Best"
09/15/14 Steve C Chichester, England, United Kingdom
I booked on their website (04/09/14 + 12/09/14) and, using the tick boxes provided, believed that the room I'd booked was 'pet friendly', having ticked this box as a requirement and being shown the rooms available for this, proceeded to book. On arriving at Reception, I asked if the room was 'pet friendly', only to be told that it was NOT and that you have to state in the 'special requirements' box at the end of the booking procedure that a 'pet friendly' room is required. WHY have a 'tick box' for this option, if you have to further state this as a requirement???? This needs to be addressed, as one of my party had to sleep in the car on both our visits, as our dogs barked. Our second stay here, was marred even further, having one guest sleeping in the car to avoid the dogs barking, and then the fire alarm going off at around 6.30am. This, as a staff member stated, "was due to someone smoking in their room" and "We know who it was". Following this, one of my party, who is elderly and has mobility issues, was confronted by the Night Manager/Porter, who accused 'US' of smoking in 'OUR' room, as the alarm system was tripped in this area of the building. This is NOT acceptable, and although all in my party smoke, we do not even smoke in our own homes, so to be directly accused of this was a disgrace. Another factor was that during the alarm, there were NO evacuation procedures, NO head count, NO Staff to clear the building and NO sincere apology. If a Health & Safely Official had been present, he would've been aghast at the slow staff response and lack of responsibility of guest's safety.

Use Danby lodge regularly and they always look after us, nice meal in the bar at a reasonable cost. Only slight minus was the double bed, which was a bit uncomfortable, will go back to booking a twin room next time.
"Looking for a noisy room and poor food ? Then stay here !"

Everywhere else was booked so I found a room here (that should have set alarm bells ringing) Best thing about this hotel is the very friendly and welcoming staff and the fact that it's 10 minutes from the ferry. The bar is nice and seating in the restaurant very good. Ok that's the nice bit over. Paper thin walls and floor in the tired rooms means you can hear everything that goes on in every room. Not great if you plan to sleep. The road noise is VERY LOUD from 6 am :-( Beds are not comfy. Tiny tiny TVs. Food in the restaurant was pretty poor. Catch of the day fish was caught and then Aparently kicked to death, overcooked. If only they spent that time cooking the chips that were half cooked at best. Desert had clearly been freshly made that morning - it had then sat out for the day waiting for the lucky customer (me) to order it :-( I would not stay here again.
"Off the ferry"

We chose this hotel as it was 'dog friendly', and close to the ferry terminal. Ten minutes after leaving the boat we were pulling into the hotel car park. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Our room was 'compact' (quite small) but had all the amenities one would expect from a modern hotel. We had dinner and breakfast in the bar (with a sleep in between times of course). Both meals were straightforward, tasty and generous in their helpings. Definitely worth putting in the diary if overnighting in the Rosslare area. An additional note - check out the apple trees around the back of the hotel, they produce the 'Reddest apples I have ever seen, really… They look like huge plums, but taste like apples used to taste before cardboard tasting fruit like Golden Delicious (a misleading title if ever there was one) came along.

Danby Lodge was perfect for a one-night stay on arrival in Ireland from the Rosslare ferry dock. Clean bedroom and bathroom, friendly and helpful staff, decent breakfast and very dog friendly. We were given a ground floor room with its own external door which opened out on to a grassy area which was perfect for the early morning weewee run, plus there's a pretty field with trees where dogs can have a decent run before departure. Served the purpose perfectly.
"Great food, quiet and would go back."

Stayed in one of the garden rooms, room 26 clean and spacious. This hotel is a 3 star hotel but the food and service is 5 stars. We had our evening meal included in the price and the portion size and quality was well worth the price paid. Excellent nights sleep. Room was very warm and there was no need for the heating to be on. Power shower excellent way to wash the sand off you after spending time on one of the lovely local beaches. Fantastic breakfast in the morning set us up for the rest of the day. I would go back.

We had a really nice overnight stay after disembarking from Stena Europe before heading for Connemara. Very comfortable rooms and delightful and helpful staff. Pleasant dinner in the bar and a very good breakfast. Less than 15 mins from the ferry and easy to find.
"One Nighter, passing through"

We weren't entirely impressed and probably wouldn't stay again. We were in an annex room which was fine and clean except that the bed was really uncomfortable and the TV channel listing was poor - No British Channels at all, so missed a programme that I was looking forward to seeing. We had dinner in the bar and the staff were very helpful but - my burger was as tough as an old boot and we were forced to listen to a football match on sky TV whilst trying to engage across the table.... The grounds were pleasant enough and there were loads of birds in the trees and bushes around which made a nice change to what I am used to seeing at my house on a new estate in Wales.

I was overall disappointed with this hotel - Not great at all - Uncomfortable Bed; No British channels on room TV; my Burger was as tough as an old boot and I was forced to listen to a British football match whilst trying to eat dinner in the restaurant area. The grounds were delightful; birds singing and flying about; wonderful trees including apples, all good outside! Staff were very helpful and could not fault that....
"Easy stay for a ferry connection"
08/30/14 Svensky Perth, Australia
This is a no brainer for a morning ferry connection. It's probably cookie cutter Best Western, but you can expect clean rooms, good service and very easy able rates. We stayed overnight and paid €81 for a family room, no breakfast, but a bargain for what was on offer. There's even a heavily laden apple trees at the front door if you want a snack on the way out.
