Chaaya Blu Trincomalee - Sri Lanka (all)

We stayed at the Chaaya Blu for 4 days at the beginning of April. The hotel is situated in an idyllic location, just outside Trincomalee - we stayed in one of the bungalows which opened out directly onto the goregeous beach. As the hotel is out of the centre of Trincomalee, you would probably end up eating at the hotel alot, although there are some other hotels with restaurants further down the coast. The resort has a good location, 10 min drive from Trincomalee and close to Pigeon Island. The rooms are nice with good amenities, tv, internet, coffee, tea. All rooms are close to the beach/pool. The breakfast was really good but I wasn't impressed with any of the other food I tried. We did not go to the dinner buffet, it was pretty expensive so we […] just ordered room service. I was particularily disappointed in the Sri Lankan curries. I have had the same type of curry at other places that were priced the same but were much better. The beef was not even edible. We went on the snorkeling trip to pigeon island. It was really nice and we had a good guide who actually cares about preserving the coral. The trip was good, however they lead you to believe that lunch is included in the price but it isn't. Overall our stay was enjoyable and I would recommend this hotel to those travelling to Trinco. We stayed 3 nights here in a chalet room on the beach nearest Trinco. We enjoyed it and had none of the troubles of the other new reviews. Staff were good, food was good even though we didn't have the buffet and ate at The Crab bar on the beach. Breakfast buffets were good though. Pool was great and always a guy handing out towels. Very few sunbeds […] though. The room was great, loved the view from the balcony and the cool bathroom, very different. The dive shop attached weren't up to much though, we stayed down for a very short amount of time on such shallow dives and fish weren't pointed out. I would shop around next time as there are a few operators along the beach.Gear and safety was good though. One word of warning, we went dolphin spotting with one of the fishermen who pull in their nets infront of the Chaaya. He was not in any way affiliated with Chaaya however so was cheaper. We didn't see any dolphins and when we returned, rather than blasting the boat up the beach as the dive guys and other boats do, he stopped short, left the engine in the water and a wave caught us unawares and knocked us all into the bottom of the boat. My arm was very bruised, still is, and my wife hurt her back so badly the Chaaya staff sent her to hospital when we asked for some painkillers! She was admitted and had an X-ray on her spine. She is fine, just sore but thanks to the staff for sorting us out and allowing late check-out. Defo go on one of their trips, its worth paying the extra. Read more

The Hotel is located right on the beach. We stayed in the beach chalet and it had an excellent view. The hotel is pretty new and the rooms were comfortable. Unfortunately it was raining so we couldn't enjoy the beach. Ideal season would be around April when you might even sight whales. What truly blew us away was their seafood restaurant "The Crab". […] A bit expensive by Sri Lankan standards but their signature dish of Jaffna Crab in Coconut Curry was the best we had on the entire trip. Also had some lagoon crab dish which was also fabulous. Very informal atmosphere, open air and right on the beach. The hotel also served one of the most extensive buffet breakfast which is included in the room rate. Read more

必须要去crab吃饭，太好吃了，螃蟹简直美味的让人想哭。我们住在面海的连排，位置一流，出门就是海景。酒店早餐味道也不错。服务一流。我太喜欢这里了。亭可马里太美了。卫生间要是铺砖就更好了。。。现在看起来是毛坯啊。沙滩也很棒，就是沙滩没有人帮忙放垫子拿毛巾，有点不足。

Situation exceptionnelle de cet hôtel sur la plage...chambre et prestations très confortables. Ns avons juste eu un problème de chasse d'eau que l'hôtel a mis un peu de temps à réparer bien qu'il ns ait proposé une autre chambre moins à notre goût. L'excursion à Pigeon Island va vraiment le détour!
