The Hotel needs some minor updates, new paint and carpet. Very nice over all, The Staff in the Hotel and Bar, 10 out of 10. These guys did everything to make our staff great!

The hotel is undergoing refurbishment which is much needed. It was disappointing to see on the website that there was a restaurant when in actual fact meals were served in the bar. Hotel was located part way up hill above town with nice views from front rooms. Some of the public areas were being renovated and redecorated so good sign for future. Room was on top floor with some sloping roof elements and heating was just coping with winter weather so a little lacking in insulation! Good fresh food in bar/restaurant. Was greeted by helpful and friendly staff , the double room was ample in size and very comfortable with amazing views of the local countryside and picture postcard views of matlock bath will be paying another visit in the summer.

Quiet and scenic location but also conveniently close to sightseeing locations. Pleasant staff/owners. Nice clean room with large bathroom and scenic view to surrounding area. Large car park meant access to and fro very convenient. An old building, but much renovation is apparent whilst retaining many original features. Opening sash windows a real plus […] for us versus the closed and featureless windows found in many modern hotels. The hotel looked tired and needed some energy and life. The staff are wonderful also helpful. Its location on the hill was wonderful , however the Bath town looks sad and still. A very welcome stay with a good comfortable room. Some updating would be beneficial but this did not detract from our enjoyment. Should be noted that evening meals not available all days, but excellent breakfast and service.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, even though it was only for 1 night. The staff were very nice people and very helpful. The full English breakfast with homemade bread was lovely and our room was very clean and well presented. Would recommend to anyone and we will definitely be staying there again.
