Very good hotel with friendly staff. Nice relaxing walk from hotel to town over Milennium Bridge. Didn't try food, but bar is nicely laid out and relaxing.

Lovely place. Will try to book again. we had guests for breakfast and paid a very reasonable price and let them know and they were wonderful. we had to eat at 5:30 am on check out day and we told them we wouldnt be there for breakfast and they insisted on leaving us milk in our refrig so we could at least have cereal and coffee before we left. Very thoughtful and accomodating. the bed was comfortable.

I was initially very impressed with the place. It's new looking, well located for the Universities of Northumbria and Newcastle, rooms are ok sized for Europe and are well set out. The problem is WIFI. The free WIFI on the third floor worked intermittenylt on the first day of my stay and not on the other two days. My (very new) PC picked it up beautifully on the 2nd floor (hall) and in the lobby. All they could do was "reset it", by which I suppose they meant cycle the power. It was a great inconvenience.

Clean, modern room with tv and en-suite. Wifi available by asking at the bar which made up for the poor mobile signal. Good quality food available in the evening and a nice selection of beers etc. Good quality, generous breakfast. We stayed here when completing the coast to coast cycle route (Whitehaven to Newcastle). This is a few miles off the route […] but is well set up for bikes etc - they securely stored them in their shop which is adjacent to the pub. Read more

The Punch Bowl is a an excellent pub B&B - smart, friendly, professionally run by the owners themselves, and convenient for business (Durham & the NE) and pleasure (coast-to-coast). My bedroom was very well furnished and spotlessly clean with an excellent bed. It was also a good size and the lack of desk for working wasn't an issue as the pub's free […] WiFi worked well downstairs in the public rooms. The icing on the cake (literally!) is the quality of the home-cooked food which is truly excellent. Local ingredients, smart presentation and legendary puddings make this a pub worth seeking out even if you're not staying the night. Read more

The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food served in the bar and for breakfast was very good, The location in the village and surrounding countryside was lovely. Only slight negative comment is that the hotel is a little remote. Our room was very good, the bed was extremely comfortable and we also had a comfortable settee to relax on. The […] room and the hotel in general were spotlessly clean. Our bathroom was a good size.
