The Bell Hotel - Oxfordshire (county)

I stayed for one night and the family hotel was busy but very clean. Nothing to complain about - I didn't have breakfast but was allowed to store my bike.

We stayed here on a cycling trip weekend and were able to leave our bikes inside locked away. We had 4 rooms- 2 couples had very comfy beds, two didn't! The evening meal was great and reasonably priced and breakfast ample. The service was great too. I'd recommend the hotel. The location is also fantastic in the middle of the Cotswolds.

Visit started badly as staff could not find the room key.. Room was clean and well appointed, A shelf by the basin would have been useful. Breakfast was nice and staff friendly.. Pub providing B7B rather than hotel would be a more accurate desciption

A little disappointed. Not really clean. Room was nice - although the room we were given when we first arrived was in the attic and at the top of a narrow step staircase. We ate here once - but not very good.

Disappointed to find no hotel notice in front of hotel, some corridor/staircase lights not functioning, cracked washbasin in bathroom, no bath plug & church clock chimes EVERY 15 minutes. The hotel was lovely, my room was the grey and purple one featured in the photos and it was excellent. It was at the back of the hotel and overlooked the car park & beer garden but I was not troubled by any noise. The staff were really helpful and attentive. anything which i asked for was provided quickly and effiiciently. I enjoyed a wonderful evening […] meal, the food was beautiful - I recommned the Summer Vegetable Salad and the Lavender Cream with the Eton Mess. I only had cereal & toast for breakfast so it is hard to comment, it was enjoyed whilst watching horses being riddedn passed the dining room window though. Check-in and checkout was painless. The hotel is situatued in a beautiful village and is only a few minutes walk away from the rail station. I would say that the television reception was very poor only one channel was really watchable - although I did notice that the area switches to digital in late September. Also for the price I would have expected more than 2 coat hangers and better toiletries than one small bar of soap. I would throughly recommend though and would love to go back there. Read more

Upon arrival I was surprised to see that the hotel had only a 2 star rating outside. (was this a warning) Absolutely not! We had a lovely warm greeting and were taken to our room in the annexe part at the back of the pub. Our room (number 12) was one of the largest double rooms I have ever stayed in. The room had a huge bed, built in wardrobe with […] plenty of hanging space, bedside tables and a dressing table. The attached ensuite bathroom with a walk in shower unit made a nice from a bath. Tea & coffee facilties were provided along with towels and toiletries. The only downside to the room was that the tv picture was dreadful! We ate at the pub and found the food delicous. Food served on slate roof tiles - very unsual. Try the burger and fries or the excellent fish pie. If you need anything there is a local coop 5 mins up the road. Breakfast consisted of choice of cereals, Fresh fruit juice, cooked breakfast, toast, tea and coffee and would recommend. Overall I would highly recommend it if visiting the Oxford area. Read more
