Nice view and then you realize you are not near anything. The pool was cold, crowded, and the areas designated for leisure a bit worn out. The resort is built on the side of a mountain, did not enjoy the hikes back and forth to the room when a cart was not available to taking you on a harrowing ride. I can see why this hotel receives such great reviews and found the staff very helpful, the rooms beautifully appointed and the food excellent. Before you consider staying here you need to see what your priorities are. The resort is 30 minute by mini van (5 trips a day I think) from Chawang and 15 minutes or so from Bophut. This means you need to plan […] your day around the limited bus schedule or rent a scooter. For us, managing to pick an extremely wet week the scooter option was less than attractive - I think i the future I would opt for a place where I could walk out the door anytime I felt tike it and find something to do rather than be limited to the schedule of the bus. This is a new resort located in Bophut, one of the Samui beaches. The hotel is away from the beach, therefore quiet and far from the crowd. To go to the beaches, restaurants and shoping the hotel offers regular transfers on mini-buses to Bophut and Chaweng. The staff is very accommodating and friendly, although most of it has difficulty with English. […] The breakfast is excellent, with plenty of fruits, breads, jams, cereal and eggs of your choice. They have good quality coffee as well. The spa although small is amazing and we had an incredilble Thai massage by Kob, one of the masseuses. My husband and I attended some yoga classes too and they were quite good. As a bonus, you have incredible views of the sea from your balcony or almost any place in the resort. WE only spent one night as we went through Samui but the hotel is brand new, very nice, top notch amenities and layout. Beautiful rooms and a spectacular view. This hotel is very different from other five star hotels because you feel relaxed and happy but at the same time all the staff is very professional and they speak very very good english - something not easy to find on Koh Samui. We stayed at Mantra for 4 nights but wish it was longer. Let's start at the beginning: Arrival - incredible customer service. We were shown to our 'Love' room and shown how to use the extensive pc video library, tv, free overseas calls etc..., Breakfast - incredible selection of healthy cereals, freshly made eggs, excellent coffees, fresh fruits, pastries, […] breads, salads, nuts, dried fruits and more!!!! Staff - brilliant through and through. Helpful and thoughtful. My boyfriend got an ear infection and they took us to the hospital after phoning them to make an appointment. Facilities - well equipped gym, sauna and squash courts. Free daily yoga. Lovely pool. Games room with wii and pool table. Fabulous restaurant with well prepared meals. Free shuttle buses to Bophut and Chaweng. Amazing sea views (if you don't mind stairs ask for a high up room) This place was amazing, I live in Singapore and this is easily one of the best places I've stayed in. This is not a 5 Star Resort. It's a maximum of 3 Stars but I guess the tariff reflects that rating. Awesome... Awesome... Awesome... Where to start?! Lovely friendly staff who made us (esp. the kids) very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant is wonderful, fabulous view and beautiful varied menu including Thai and Western food. My favourites were the beef noodle soup and the caramelised ribs. Had great cocktail menu and made great […] daiquiris! We stayed in a grand suite (2 adjoining rooms which were very spacious) set at the top of the resort so great views. Lovely modern bathrooms and very comfortable beds. Resort set on a steep hill but only a two minute wait for a golf buggy to come and collect you. Close to Bophut ( 5 mins) and about 20 mins from Chaweng. Use shuttle buses to both areas which made it easy to get around. On the whole, we enjoyed Mantra Samui but there were a few points they could've improved on. We were on our honeymoon and made this clear in our booking, however this was never acknowledged even when we reminded them in person! We weren't after an ugrade but a few kind words to congrats us would have been nice for a start. Also, we had to request for […] our room to be changed after one night in the original room... we'd requested a room with a good sea view as it was our honeymoon and the first room had a view if the roof in front of us. There were inconsistencies in their staffing...some were very helpful and others were disappointing. The general pool is lovely with a stunning view but if you want to use it you have to geh there early.... There are far too few sun loungers for the ratio of people staying. We only managed to use it on one day and even then we had to share one sun lounger. There's slso the problem of people reserving them by leaving towels on them to contend with too. The hotel is high up so does provide spectacular views. You can't walk down to Bophut due to the severe climb but the free shuttle buses to and from Bophut/Chaweng do come in handy. The food was nice at the hotel with a good choice between Thai and Western cuisine. Read more

I was expecting a great stay and was not pleased. First of all this is not a family oriented resort. We were one of the few families there and the majority were couples. We booked a family suite and got two rooms with a walk through door way, this made our stay difficult as we were spread through two bedrooms verses a suite. The sliding door locks were […] not working and when we complained because we couldn't get into our room, the maintenance guy just came over and jiggled the door to pry it open. Finally day four our lock was changed and by day five the other sliding door was broken too. The cleaning was crap, as there was dust and cob webs everywhere. Exceptional Hospitality is their mantra! Our first visit to Koh Samui was very tiring and we had booked a share cab. We got off the cab at the main road not knowing that the resort is located uphill. Mantra Samui staff were very friendly and approachable. Their daily breakfast buffet was good. Wide selection of illy coffees, french pastries (yummy doughnuts), eggs any style and cereals. The pool is good for chillaxing but too small to accommodate all guests during peak season. The resort offers daily complimentary yoga classes for yoga practitioners postures varies from simple gentle pose to ashtanga poses (depending on the instructor i suppose) Free shuttle bus service to Chaweng beach and Fisherman's Village ( 4 timings per day) The individual rooms are staggered and built on a steep slope. Walking up and down the slope on a daily basis can help burn calories (not recommended for elderly or family with children) I find it good for solo travellers and couples who wish to be away from crowded touristy areas.
