This was great place to stay, no screaming sring breakers. This is an adult oriented all inclusive hotel. The food was excenllent, you have to try the rotisserie chicken on the beach!

"HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 2, 2012
Wow! What an amazing time we had staying at the Royal Solaris!! We spent our 19th anniversary at this all inclusive resort for 4 days and never even had the slightest urge to go into town or leave the hotel. Friendly staff checked us in. They were knowledgeable, efficient, and there was no waiting. The Time Share lady who offered us a "quick tour" of the hotel but did not get pushy or upset when we told we just wanted to get to our room and then hit the beach. She asked that we come see her, but we never did and we never got bothered with Time Share talk the rest of the time. The multiple pools looked like lots of fun, but hey...we have a pool at home so we spent every waking minute at the beautiful beaches. The "vendors" walking up and down the beach were not pushy at all and after each one made their 1st pass/effort, they didn't bother us the rest of the day. Benjamin and Kike (pronounced kee-kay), were our beach waiters over the weekend and both of them were absolutely tremendous!! We could not have asked for a better experience. The room was clean, it had a comfortable bed, and plenty of water pressure for our showers. Oh...and pay the little extra to get the beach view room...spectacular views of the sunrise and gorgeous blue waters!!

I loved the hotel and the service is wonderful, however I was really disappointed in the beach. We had to travel to another Palace resort to swim in the ocean and take pictures. But that is my only complaint.

Accessible by ferry, Isla Mujeres is a major ecotourism destination. El Parque Natural Garrafón (Garrafón Natural Reef Park) features coral reefs inhabited by schools of fish. Giant sea turtles come ashore at Tortugranja to lay eggs. North of Isla Mujeres, thousands of rare and tropical birds roost at a natural sanctuary on Isla Contoy.

The location is pretty ideal, as you're right across the street from what I think is the best beach. It used to be that the North Beach was the primo spot, but the waves have been pulling the sand away from there, and putting it down in front of Posada del Mar and adjacent dwellings. There were many inconsistencies between what we read in guidebooks […] and were told by the personnel with whom we made reservations by phone and online. Examples are: microwave promised, but not available w/o switch to suite accommodations; bicycles and beach umbrellas provided (not); breakfast included (no longer true). We loved the pool and relaxed atmosphere, and were not impressed with some of the personnel (several of reception managers helpful when pressed, but not necessarily cheerful or eager to please). The hotel sits in the middle of rubble and ruin, so you enter and walk along a hall looking at doors and wall on one side, and garbage and decaying remains of structures on the other -- took some getting used to. This was the least pleasant of the 5 hotels we've stayed in during our several weeks in Mexico. Read more
"Posada del Mar"
After reading other reviews I felt I knew what we were getting. If you have ever been to this island you know it is very authentic Mexico. There are some beautiful hotels, some not very nice and the average hotel. When we stayed the staff treated us wonderfully. The front desk gentleman showed us a couple different rooms as we weren't sure which area […] we wanted to be in. We settled on the old section. It was not perfect, the walls could be scrubbed in spots, the shower did have a bit of mold and the beds were hard but we did feel safe and it has a great location. The bar staff was great. We met many very nice people staying at this hotel. It is across the street from a great beach and easy walking distance to great restaurants. Read more
"The pool is amazing"
This hotel has four buildings/sections, each is newer than the first. If you pay for the "new section" you may be actually getting the second newest. This happened to me, so when you get there you need to upgrade and pay a little more which is totally worth it because the new sections, numbers 3 & 4, are so much nicer and have quiet ACs, excellent showers, […] and HD tv which the others lack. This site is not clear about this difference. I think it's something the buyer should know. We loved staying here. The location is ideal and beautiful. The pool has been remodeled and is very child friendly. Oh, and the palapa bar is an extra perk! Read more
First off - make sure you have your printed hotels.com receipt before checking in. Just a confirmation number and/or showing the receipt on a screen is not enough. It is right across the street from the beach, but since a lot of boats were docked there it reeked of gasoline. No worries though, just walk up a bit and you'll find a better patch of sand. […] They give you free beach towels at the front desk. The Continental breakfast goes from 7:15 - 8:15. Simple, just some fresh fruit, fresh squeezed juice (the OJ was amazing) and toast. The mini-suite was very roomy and clean. The AC blew cold and the cable tv worked. The cleaning ladies fold your towels into animals and whatnot, it was a pleasant surprise. Hot water is iffy, but the cold water wasn't freezing. The bed was pretty hard, but not unbearable. Internet is only available in the hotel's restaurant and it's password protected though everyone that works here said you don't need a password. Oh well. We weren't too worried about it. The pool was clean and a nice respite from the beach. The pool and the restaurant were pretty good. Overall a great bargain and a pleasant stay at Posada del Mar. Read more
"The Posada delMar in Isla Mujres was sheer heaven"
The Posada del Mar is the most wonderful hotel in Isla Mujeres and we can't wait to go back next year... I am going back every year for the rest of my life ! Best rooms are on first or second floor overlooking the lovely swimming pool. Very spacious rooms , comfortable beds, charming staff and the most perfect beach just across the road. The staff are […] all adorable especially Romi who makes the most delicious margaritas in the world, We loved Victor too and Juan and Ismail who brought us divine mojitos straight to our sunbeds on the beach. Heaven on earth ! It is a good idea to book in advance as we did and you have a discount if you pay in advance. Some people seemed to think they could just turn up and were quite cross or disappointed when there were no rooms available. Isla Mujeres is not fancy... thank god but very laid back and genuinely , authentically Mexican. If you expect a manicured, very exclusive , in my opinion bone crushingly boring type of place go somewhere else. Posada del Mar is my idea of perfect bliss . Read more
"Worthless staff in the lobby"
First when we arrived some lazy guy in the reception refused to check our booking in their system if we did not have a printed copy of the booking confirmation. Half an hour later we had fixed that, and got a room, which someone already lived in. So we had to wait until 5 pm until we actually got a room. The room however was nice and clean especially […] nice was that the AC was so loud that I could not hear my girlfriend speak. Use the fan if you wish to sleep. All the outside areas of the hotel was really worn down, and we suspect the lobby guys gave our room-key to some other people since we came back and the room was unlocked even though the cleaning lady had been there. The hotel is located right across the beach in the town, which was nice. Read more
"Good location, but don't expect much."
I reserved a room from the new building, but got one from the old one. It wasn't prepared, quite dirty and no towels etc. The staff wasn't so eager to help. The hotel didn't have laundry service although their web page says so.
"Excellent location and comfort."
We, a couple, stayed on the nights of December 27 and 28, 2011. The hotel is on the opposite side of the street from the beach, but the beach is visible from all rooms, as near as I could tell. My only complaints are that there was apparently no elevator and there were a few surface maintenance concerns (a wall plate was unscrewed, etc.). Our room was […] quite large, our bathroom was nice with all utilities functioning well and plenty of hot water. The bed was very comfortable--in many visits to Mexico, it was probably the most comfortable bed I've slept in. The pool was mid-sized and nicely kept. If you have never been to Isla Mujeres before, you should know that this is a great location. The description mentions access to a private beach; I would say it's the public beach. You should know that from the beach access across the street from La Posada del Mar, you can walk a good 3/4 of a mile in either direction on the beach without feeling that you are impinging on a private beach. This beach is friendly, and I was rarely approached to buy anything. The hotel is about three blocks from the most commercial street with the best selection of restaurants on the island. It's also about five blocks from the ferry port. You will probably not ever want public transport (such as a golf cart) when staying here. Many of the Isla Mujeres resorts are more sequestered than La Posada del Mar. The hotel staff treated us well. I was very pleased with our visit and would gladly go back. Enjoy your trip! We happened to travel at the time that Mexican Nationals take their winter vacation, and we were well-received by them. One further note: take the new ferry, which is a couple hundred yards closer to Cancun than the government ferry. It takes about 25 minutes, and a round-trip ticket was half the price of the farther ferry. Read more
"Good location, good price, gournds need some work."
My only criticism was the hard beds. Our room was on the first floor, so our patio door opened out to teh pool, which was nice for our 11-year-old nephew. The hotel was very quiet, but they were expecting a much larger Mexican crowd in April around Easter. Breakfast (included) was dull, but had some nice fresh fruit. Coffee was terrible, but that's […] the case in many of the island's restaurants. Excellent location, with the beach right across the street, with free lounge chairs for hotel guests (umbrella $5 for the day--cheaper than some other areas on North Beach). Beautiful sunsets. The town was laying cobblestones out front, so one direction of traffic was re-directed, making the area out front less busy. Read more

Read more
"Nog veel werk"
Het hotel is goed gelegen, vlak bij de pier, vlak bij het mooiste strand en dichtbij de winkelstraat met restaurants. De kamers zijn oké, niet meer, maar ze zouden al eens mogen beginnen het puin te ruimen dat in de binnentuin ligt te vergaren. Met een kleine inspanning kan hier best een fraai hotel van gemaakt worden, want nu ziet het er nogal onafgewerkt […] uit. Read more
"Muy buen hotel"
La habitación era muy amplia y el hotel está muy bien ubicado cerca de la playa. Lo único negativo es que el control remoto de la TV no funcionaba y no tenían repuestos.
