"Below expectations"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
Having stayed at the Landis Hotel in Taipei, I expected Icon to offer the same service quality or better. After checking in, no one bothered to show us to our room and introduce us to the facilites available. I booked a harbor view room for an increased price. Sure there was a view of the harbor, if you looked to the left side. Directly outside my window was the rooftop of the mall. The concierge was helpful. I had one meal at the lobby cafe. My mom ordered a chowder in bread bowl. The bread came out toasted with green mold!! How did they miss that?! Killed our appetites immediately! I've read comments comparing Icon to the Four Seasons. One of our travel companions stayed there and I had an opportunity to rest in her room during our long afternoons in Hong Kong island. The hotel is impeccable and there was definitely no mold in our food.

Decent size room for Hong Kong. Definitely not huge but plenty big enough. Nice bathroom. Perfect Kowloon location. Clean and nice

"Very good hotel - convenient to Hung Hom trains"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
I stayed here because of the very close proximity to the Hung Hom MTR station. I stayed for 2 separate 1-night stays within one week of each other. Efficient check-in and check out both times. Front-desk was courteous. Concierge was friendly. Decent Asian and western-style breakfast. Room-service was fine and the meal I ordered was very good. I would stay here again if I needed to take the commuter train into China. One small negative was the taxi line was a little slow on one of the nights. No big deal.

"Catered for different needs"
We travelled there for a weekend from Hong Kong where everything is so packed. So the ultimate desire is to have fresh air, quiet environment and a lazy weekend. We heard alot complaints from other reviews, but I think it's because they set unrealistic expectation without desk research on what's the uniqueness about this hotel. We booked the room type […] we wanted which is town house with balcony, which is even bigger than our bedroom in Hong Kong! Go for 3310. Like I said, space and tranquility was what we looked for. If you want to argue about the service standard, hotel staff English skills, food quality etc., I would say this may not be the place you should stay as those are not what they are good at. In terms of the overall concept and the business vision, I think this state-owned property/theme park has done a really good job, just to be fair. Read more
