It was a hot season - so would love an air-con unit. Otherwise, I felt like I am in my own home - no one to pester or hovering around. Going out and about on Bus no. 34 -right in front of the hotel - to nearest walk Metro at Papineau - this is a good way to travel around Montreal! Highly recommended for a worthy price.

Hotel proprietor was a charmer - made up for the fact that hotel was initially a post office and then a monastery. Lack of toiletries that one is accustomed to in a hotel. Bathroom is shared and across a public hallway. No carpeting. Decent breakfast. TV was very awkwardly placed in the window such that nobody could get an actual view.

It is a good place to stay. The location is not the best. It is at a old industrial distriction out of downtown. A bus is just outside the hotel to take you to metro station. It is 5 ' from metro station if you want to walk. The hotel itself is good and people is friendly.

Very quaint place to stay, nice moderate breakfast and our family suite was perfect. Our two girls could sleep in the separate room while our son and us could stay up to watch TV or talk in the other room with 2 beds. High ceilings and large windows, brick flor to ceiling fireplace made it very nice. If you accept a youth hostel as good, this place would be a last place choice. For the cost they charge is outright rip-off. This European-style hotel is a great place to stay if you're looking for a clean and comfortable but not too fancy hotel. I had one of the smaller rooms with a full-sized bed and it was plenty big enough for one person, although it might have seemed a little crowded if I had been sharing it with someone else. I was impressed with the cleanliness of […] the room when I checked in and the cleaning staff kept it looking great throughout my six-night stay. The hotel features shared toilet and shower facilities and both were clean at all times. The only downside was that it was posted to not use the shower facilities between midnight and 7:00am and, since I was attending a conference, I needed to be on a bus by 7:00am and showering at night was inconvenient. Breakfast was included with the cost of the room, although it was very heavy on starches (toast, muffins, croissants, cold cereal, bagels, etc.) so I supplemented with fruit, yogurt, and cheese I bought on my own. The breakfast room was in the nicely-decorated basement and had plenty of space for everyone to eat comfortably. The staff were all friendly and helpful, from the time I checked in until the time I left. Parking was always available on site and I was able to leave my car in their lot every day for as long as I needed. Even though the neighborhood was somewhat removed from most things, I never felt uncomfortable about leaving my car unattended in their lot. The city bus goes right by the front door of the hotel several times an hour during the week and twice per hour on weekends. The hotel rooms have very thin walls so, if you're sensitive to noise, you should bring earplugs. Overall, however, I had an enjoyable stay and would definitely return to this hotel if I find myself in Montreal again! Read more

Thanks to Montreal's superior public transportation system, this hotel is located within about 15 minutes from nearly any part of town. However, the neighborhood surrounding the hotel doesn't have much going on. The hotel itself is pretty cool (an old post office built in the 19th century), and the well stocked continental breakfast served daily from […] 7:30 to 10:30 is a good perk. Free wifi is another plus. The walls are pretty thin, and rabble rousing frat boys trampsing through the halls late at night woke me up more than once. The shared bathroom wasn't too much of a hassle as it's typically nearby the room and each bathroom is only shared between two rooms. Hotel staff was very helpful in equipping me with maps and train schedules, and was very helpful on giving advice for navigating the city. For the price, this hotel's shortcomings weren't outrageous, considering standard hotels can go for $150-$300 per night. Unique hotel experience in a unique city. My brother and I stayed at the Auberge from 10/14-10/16. Overall, there are no major complaints. The price was affordable, The rooms were comfortable, parking was never a problem, the continental breakfast helped us save a few bucks. The neighborhood is close to an industrial part of town, but that was not an issue. The subway is about 4-5 blocks north […] and a nice walk. We drove everywhere, however, due to the rain. The staff was responsive to our needs though we didn't have many. The only slight annoyance was that our room was not ready when we got there at 2:30, and we waited almost an hour to get in. I would recommend this place, though if you are younger and expecting to make noise, I would not- Staff made it very clear that we should not (maybe because we are in our late 20's). 1, There is no information on the web saying the hotel only has shared bathroom with other room's guests. 2, No service after 11:00 PM 3, The parking lot is too small and not safe at all. 4, Neighborhood noises (sawing the metal --- repair roof or some kind remodeling) kept going on till 9:00 PM (since we got in --- about 3:30PM).

Our Expedia reservation turned out to be at a different hotel from the one we thought we had booked. With that said, the people who run and work at the hotel are very nice and extremely helpful. The lady was very nice and helpful. We do not categorize this under a hotel or motel it is a Breakfast and Board house. I was told that it is a continental breakfast… but it was only cereal, muffin, bagels etc. not even eggs. It is not worth for the money at all.
