"NEVER will go back"
We booked the room with whirpool tub for our wedding anniversary. They had reservations all messed up. We got keys to a room that was occupied!!! After they finally figure out which room was ours real dissapointment started. The tub was DIRTY with someones hair on the wall!!! We were told that they can give us different room but no whirpool since they […] dont have anybody to clean it. My husband decided to clean it by himself. Then we got call from the front desk at 11.30PM asking if we expect another guest - again they have all reservations messed up. Come to breakfast - coffee maker in the room was DIRTY. And in the daylight we also saw all the dust on the furniture. Staff was apologizing but we will never go back there. Huge dissapointment. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
You could hear the water running in the pipes in the walls all night long very loud.My first room door won't lock so they said they couldn't fix it so they moved us to another room. The fan in the bathroom sounded like a jet engine. The hot food in the morning wasn't good either the eggs were like the worse I have every had. My rating for this hotel […] is an 3 with 10 being the highest and 1 being the lowest. "Great for the whole family"
The staff are friendly, the room was very clean! My kids loved it and asked to come back when we visit family again. The breakfast was very good and the staff at breakfast made you feel welcome and at home. They were also accomodating for my elderly grandmother. I would recommend this hotel to everyone!Genuine Expedia guest review
This was a overnite stay as I dropping my son off at Trinity. The location was very connvience as it 10 minutes from the school. The hotels has to a variety of resturants and shopping centers nearby. The rooms were spacious and clean.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel is brand new, and if they keep it the way it is, it will be a location we use a business every time we stay in the area~!Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"brand new! just opened Feb 2012"
friendly front desk; brand new and spotless facility. what lowered my ranking was housekeeping. The clocks in both the fitness center and the pool were not correct; take them down if you cannot keep them accurate. The pool had no towels; had to go to front desk in my bathing suit to get some; embarrassing! returned to my room to hear the alarm clock […] going off even though I had not set the alarm; had not even touched that clock. Also would suggest a better fitness center. only had treadmills; no elliptical, no bicycle, no weights. Not good enough! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Price is Right"
This newly opened motel on the outskirts of Newington, CT provided a wonderful visit with relatives without having to impose upon them for a week. The bed and bedding were outstanding in comfort. The room was quiet until the hotel filled with middle school soccer, basketball, and softball teams arrived for the weekend. No hotel could provide rooms capable […] of blocking out the chaos that ensued. The free breakfast was adequate, but a week of it was too much. The location, right on the Berlin Turnpike, is convenient but not safe for walking. Access to a car is a must-have if you stay here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Many restuarants in the area"
We chose this hotel as it was close to our son and daughter-in-law for a new baby visit. It was very clean and comfortable. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was good-especially the cinnamon rolls. There were multiple choices of restaurants close by.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very accessible location"
Oversall, my stay was very satisfactory. On the last night of my stay, children involved in a soccer tournament were staying at the hotel. There was a lot of noise in the hallway (an actual soccer game going on), which was very noisy and disrespecful of other guests in the hotel. After calling the Front Desk, everything quieted down at around 9:45 […] pm. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Extraordinary Customer Service - Fantastic Facilities - Great Stay"
12/09/14 Peter S Milton, New Hampshire, United States
I stayed at the HIE Newington for 3 nights during Thanksgiving while visiting family. I had to change plans due to a pending snow storm. I called the front desk and Cassandra (with a C), the front desk manager, was super accommodating to my coming a day earlier. Thank you. Having arrived at 2am, I had to get my "beauty" sleep and unfortunately missed the great breakfast. Yolanda, housekeeping, went out of her way to get a bagel and juice for me. Plus she even added mini-muffins as an unexpected delight. Elaine, the breakfast host, also did a superb job restocking and making sure the breakfast room was presentable. I noticed that she was running all the time to keep everything stocked. Fast and efficient with a smile! Phew! Hats off to David, night auditor; Sharna, front desk agent; and especially to Jason, the manager. It was a pleasure speaking with him, too. Very personable. Having been in the hotel industry part time over the last 10 years, I have a suggestion: Keep the front desk extended employees conversations / loud laughter between employees either in the back room or in a low low voice tone. I was privy to several inadvertent conversations while reading in the TV lounge area. "Use your indoor voice," as Momma would say. Overall, great customer service, fantastic facilities, sumptuous breakfast and restful sleep. What else would one want? Stay at the HIE Newington. They sold me - I will be there again during the Christmas holidays visiting family in CT. Thanks, Peter from NH.
"Enjoyed My Stay"

After a last minute change to my business trip to the area, we decided to stay at the HIE Newington. It ended up being a very good choice. The front desk staff was friendly, and when I got to the room, only to find the latch was locked, they got someone to the room right away to get me in. The breakfast was a standard HIE free breakfast. I would certainly recommend this hotel to anyone in my company traveling to our office int he area.

Stayed at this location the weekend of Nov 15th.,while visiting family. The staff, especially Cassandra at the front desk, were friendly and accommodating. We asked for and received an early check-in due to scheduling of a family event. The hotel is well located near restaurants etc, and easy to find. The room was well appointed and comfortable. Not up to our usual expectation of cleanliness, there was a heavy patina of dust on most surfaces, and sticky hand prints on the windows. Again we did ask for early check-in. Otherwise everything was comfortable and quiet. The pool was clean and well kept. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choices and regularly replenished. Have tried other hotels in the area and will return again soon.
"Nice property, great breakfast"

We recently stayed at this HI Express while catching a show in Hartford. Very nice property with an excellent and friendly staff. Breakfast was great and the breakfast room staff was friendly and helpful also. My only complaint--inadequate lighting in the bedroom and bathroom. We would stay again if we're in the area.

I was not impressed with this hotels staff although I have stayed at an array of holiday Inns and never had an issue...I was gutting out of the shower and housekeeping had walked in the room without knocking it was 9 am checkout is 11..However the hotel was clean and the breakfast was good..front desk was less then helpful with what there is to in the are..

We stayed over night to visit my son who attends a university nearby. This time we asked for a room that did not have an adjoining room and it was granted. Staff were nice and breakfast was your typical breakfast, it was fully stocked. There is supposed to be coffee 24/7 but both days the coffee pots were empty when we went to get coffee. Our bedroom area was clean but the bathroom floor had hair on it in numerous spots and there were visible brown stains behind the toilet bowl. The vanity top needs to be cleaned better. I like to make reservations directly with a hotel and to make a reservation here they will quote you a price but then transfer you to the Holiday Inn 800 number. I was given a different price then what was quoted and they put me on hold to verify and I was disconnected. When I called back and was transferred to 800 number I was disconnected again. I was ready to make a reservation else where but decided to try again. I was given the price that was quoted by hotel so check prices before booking. Since this hotel is convenient when visiting my son I wish they would give a "college" rate like some hotels do so that it would be cheaper to visit more often. I will most likely stay here again and do recommend staying here.

I travel to Newington a few times a year and always stay at the Holiday Inn Express. It's conveniently located, is newish, offers a clean, good sized room, efficient staff, and the rate won't break you.
"If you are an IHG/Priority Club Member Stay Here!!!"
08/26/14 nancy c Syracuse, New York
I had not-so-high expectations of this hotel because it only cost 10,000 IHG/Priority Club points to stay here!! The reviews were mostly positive and the hotel is only 2 years old so we took the chance as stayed here. What a value!! If you have points...don't look any further!! The room was very clean and comfortable. Although the hotel was on the smaller side, there still was a (small) pool and two treadmills that I didn't see anyone using. The breakfast was great (remember my expectations were pretty low!) and the area that it is in has a lot of chain restaurants to choose from. I will definitely stay again if I'm in this area.
"Just like the ads - we had a great night's sleep"
07/15/14 BookMD New York
We stayed here for one night over the 4th of July weekend. I was alarmed when we drove in to see a huge Coach bus filling up with members of a family reunion - the desk clerk said there were FIVE HUNDRED of them!!! I don't know how many stayed at the hotel but there were kids EVERYWHERE. We asked for a quiet room and were put on the third floor. The hotel is non-smoking, it was built in 2012 so it's still in good shape, the room was clean enough (big stain on carpet), the beds were much better than I expected (Westin style), and the air conditioning was wonderful!!! I was too tired to try the WiFi. 2 queen beds was $112 - I did not even try to find an online deal. There are not a lot of people at the desk so the place seems to run itself. We had a great night's sleep which is why we were there!
"Disatrous Stay with only a 50% offered refund"
07/13/14 Longbrook A Newport, Rhode Island USA
We stayed at the Newington Holiday Inn Express on 7/11-7/12. It was the Host Hotel for the Nutmeg State Games held in Newington at the Newington Arena the day of 7/12. We had a number of our young Ice Skaters who were to compete beginning with their warm up's for the competition at 7:20 am. Being so early a start to the competition and the fact that all of us lived between 1 hour and 1 1/2 hours drive from the competition we all chose to stay at the host hotel, Newington Holiday Inn to avoid the long early drive on the kids who aged between 8 and 12 years old. Upon checking in, all seemed to go smoothly, the rooms were comfortable, large and well appointed. The staff courteous and efficient. The only glitch to the beginning of the stay was that the T.V.s were not working but the staff promptly corrected the issues as it seems the cleaning staff had somehow unhooked the units where they attacked at the back of the TV and they needed to be reprogrammed. Easy fix. Everyone went to bed with the anticipation of a good nights rest to insure proper sleep and preparation time for the morning competitions. Alas at 1am, the fire alarm system began to blare, lights flashing and the entire hotels occupents (the hotel was completely booked) emptied out into the parking lot of the hotel. Most people not even thinking to grab their luggage or car keys in their rush to exit the hotel and get away from the ear splitting alarms. No one from the Hotel staff was available to explain, direct the guests, nothing! More than 15 minutes passed before the first fire truck even arrived with police escort. Still no one from the staff or the response teams were present to inform the guests of anything. Children, adults, elderly, young and old couples, many walking around the unprotected parking lot, lit only by the light of the full moon, many clad only in night gowns, far too many male guests only in underpants and no shirts, dozens of guests with no shoes, nothing! Poor parents with multiple young children, just wandering the parking area with no one to assure any of us of the goings on. Was it a pulled fire alarm? Was it a real fire? What? a few individuals claimed to have seen some water coming from the rear of the hotel. Well over an hour later, a fire official walked around and told people they could re-enter the hotel, but the alarms and lights were still blaring, There was absolutely no way anyone could re-enter their rooms with this deafening sound and bright flashing lights going off every 2 seconds. Most people milled about the tight lobby and the breakfast area just inside the front entrance as the alarms were not as loud in those areas as they were in each individual room. Still the staff did not inform guest of the issue or why the alarms were still activated. Finally by 2:30 plus am, the alarms were finally shut off and the guests dispersed to their rooms. In the middle of the night the staff slipped a copied apology letter under each guest door informing them that they would be offered a reduction of 50% on their stay fee. Since we had to arise at 5:30 am, and it took some time to get everyone back into bed and asleep, this left precious little time to recoup our night preparations. I am sorry, but this should have been an easy call, a full complimentary refund or offer of a full night stay at any Holiday Inn hotel would have been the appropriate response by management. As it turns out it was a burst pipe in the hotel basement that caused the issue and we were not notified of this by the staff until the letter was delivered the next morning. Again, this is not acceptable treatment of a major chains staff of a hotel which was filled to capacity. They new well in advance that the Connecticut State Games would be one of the years major draws for the event and since they are the Host Hotel, this is absolutely unacceptable reparations as well as staff response for an unfortunate event of this type. At a total cost of $130.00 a night for this hotel, under normal circumstances it would be a fair thing to say that the hotel should have been more than acceptable due to the comfort level of the rooms and the cleanliness. In loo of the staff's lack of response issues, the lack of information given to the guests and absolute lack of instruction or guidance in the event of possible emergency, this becomes a very dangerous problem.
