"brand new! just opened Feb 2012"
friendly front desk; brand new and spotless facility. what lowered my ranking was housekeeping. The clocks in both the fitness center and the pool were not correct; take them down if you cannot keep them accurate. The pool had no towels; had to go to front desk in my bathing suit to get some; embarrassing! returned to my room to hear the alarm clock […] going off even though I had not set the alarm; had not even touched that clock. Also would suggest a better fitness center. only had treadmills; no elliptical, no bicycle, no weights. Not good enough! Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"The Price is Right"
This newly opened motel on the outskirts of Newington, CT provided a wonderful visit with relatives without having to impose upon them for a week. The bed and bedding were outstanding in comfort. The room was quiet until the hotel filled with middle school soccer, basketball, and softball teams arrived for the weekend. No hotel could provide rooms capable […] of blocking out the chaos that ensued. The free breakfast was adequate, but a week of it was too much. The location, right on the Berlin Turnpike, is convenient but not safe for walking. Access to a car is a must-have if you stay here. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Many restuarants in the area"
We chose this hotel as it was close to our son and daughter-in-law for a new baby visit. It was very clean and comfortable. The front desk staff were friendly and accommodating. The breakfast was good-especially the cinnamon rolls. There were multiple choices of restaurants close by.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was great and the breakfast was fantastic - hot and cold options and variety. the staff member at the desk at check in was wonderful and the hotel was well maintained. my family loved it and thought it was a great value.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Having had stayed at numerous hotels in the past 6 months, this one was one of the best. Really nothing bad to say about it, perfect hotel.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Very accessible location"
Oversall, my stay was very satisfactory. On the last night of my stay, children involved in a soccer tournament were staying at the hotel. There was a lot of noise in the hallway (an actual soccer game going on), which was very noisy and disrespecful of other guests in the hotel. After calling the Front Desk, everything quieted down at around 9:45 […] pm. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"If you are an IHG/Priority Club Member Stay Here!!!"
08/26/14 nancy c Syracuse, New York
I had not-so-high expectations of this hotel because it only cost 10,000 IHG/Priority Club points to stay here!! The reviews were mostly positive and the hotel is only 2 years old so we took the chance as stayed here. What a value!! If you have points...don't look any further!! The room was very clean and comfortable. Although the hotel was on the smaller side, there still was a (small) pool and two treadmills that I didn't see anyone using. The breakfast was great (remember my expectations were pretty low!) and the area that it is in has a lot of chain restaurants to choose from. I will definitely stay again if I'm in this area.
"Just like the ads - we had a great night's sleep"
07/15/14 BookMD New York
We stayed here for one night over the 4th of July weekend. I was alarmed when we drove in to see a huge Coach bus filling up with members of a family reunion - the desk clerk said there were FIVE HUNDRED of them!!! I don't know how many stayed at the hotel but there were kids EVERYWHERE. We asked for a quiet room and were put on the third floor. The hotel is non-smoking, it was built in 2012 so it's still in good shape, the room was clean enough (big stain on carpet), the beds were much better than I expected (Westin style), and the air conditioning was wonderful!!! I was too tired to try the WiFi. 2 queen beds was $112 - I did not even try to find an online deal. There are not a lot of people at the desk so the place seems to run itself. We had a great night's sleep which is why we were there!
"Disatrous Stay with only a 50% offered refund"
07/13/14 Longbrook A Newport, Rhode Island USA
We stayed at the Newington Holiday Inn Express on 7/11-7/12. It was the Host Hotel for the Nutmeg State Games held in Newington at the Newington Arena the day of 7/12. We had a number of our young Ice Skaters who were to compete beginning with their warm up's for the competition at 7:20 am. Being so early a start to the competition and the fact that all of us lived between 1 hour and 1 1/2 hours drive from the competition we all chose to stay at the host hotel, Newington Holiday Inn to avoid the long early drive on the kids who aged between 8 and 12 years old. Upon checking in, all seemed to go smoothly, the rooms were comfortable, large and well appointed. The staff courteous and efficient. The only glitch to the beginning of the stay was that the T.V.s were not working but the staff promptly corrected the issues as it seems the cleaning staff had somehow unhooked the units where they attacked at the back of the TV and they needed to be reprogrammed. Easy fix. Everyone went to bed with the anticipation of a good nights rest to insure proper sleep and preparation time for the morning competitions. Alas at 1am, the fire alarm system began to blare, lights flashing and the entire hotels occupents (the hotel was completely booked) emptied out into the parking lot of the hotel. Most people not even thinking to grab their luggage or car keys in their rush to exit the hotel and get away from the ear splitting alarms. No one from the Hotel staff was available to explain, direct the guests, nothing! More than 15 minutes passed before the first fire truck even arrived with police escort. Still no one from the staff or the response teams were present to inform the guests of anything. Children, adults, elderly, young and old couples, many walking around the unprotected parking lot, lit only by the light of the full moon, many clad only in night gowns, far too many male guests only in underpants and no shirts, dozens of guests with no shoes, nothing! Poor parents with multiple young children, just wandering the parking area with no one to assure any of us of the goings on. Was it a pulled fire alarm? Was it a real fire? What? a few individuals claimed to have seen some water coming from the rear of the hotel. Well over an hour later, a fire official walked around and told people they could re-enter the hotel, but the alarms and lights were still blaring, There was absolutely no way anyone could re-enter their rooms with this deafening sound and bright flashing lights going off every 2 seconds. Most people milled about the tight lobby and the breakfast area just inside the front entrance as the alarms were not as loud in those areas as they were in each individual room. Still the staff did not inform guest of the issue or why the alarms were still activated. Finally by 2:30 plus am, the alarms were finally shut off and the guests dispersed to their rooms. In the middle of the night the staff slipped a copied apology letter under each guest door informing them that they would be offered a reduction of 50% on their stay fee. Since we had to arise at 5:30 am, and it took some time to get everyone back into bed and asleep, this left precious little time to recoup our night preparations. I am sorry, but this should have been an easy call, a full complimentary refund or offer of a full night stay at any Holiday Inn hotel would have been the appropriate response by management. As it turns out it was a burst pipe in the hotel basement that caused the issue and we were not notified of this by the staff until the letter was delivered the next morning. Again, this is not acceptable treatment of a major chains staff of a hotel which was filled to capacity. They new well in advance that the Connecticut State Games would be one of the years major draws for the event and since they are the Host Hotel, this is absolutely unacceptable reparations as well as staff response for an unfortunate event of this type. At a total cost of $130.00 a night for this hotel, under normal circumstances it would be a fair thing to say that the hotel should have been more than acceptable due to the comfort level of the rooms and the cleanliness. In loo of the staff's lack of response issues, the lack of information given to the guests and absolute lack of instruction or guidance in the event of possible emergency, this becomes a very dangerous problem.
"Nice room minus smoke smell and noise"
06/25/14 Kimberly J
The room is great as far as being clean and upgraded, BUT at night it smelled of cigarette smoke even though everyone around me is a non-smoking room and the person above me sounds as if they are going to come through my ceiling. The breakfast was pretty good and the staff is very nice, just not the most pleasant room to be in. Ready to head home on Friday!
"Not up to standards of Holiday Inn Express"
06/21/14 CarolinaBecky Wake Forest, Nc
Holiday Inn Express hotels are fairly standard and one thing brands like this and its competitors usually offer is consistency--you know what you can expect. This one did not live up to that. We have about 75-100 hotel nights a year so are fairly familiar with a lot of brands. This particular hotel was conveniently located with extremely attractive public areas, particularly the art. But it simply just misses. We were there three nights, and in the spirit of "green-ness" hung up most of our towels. It didn't matter--there was NO housekeeping visit at all on the second day, not even a run at emptying the wastebaskets or replenishing the two hand towels we did want re-stocked. When we told the front desk our room had received no replacements because it had received no service, the clerk said "Oh." no apology or explanation. The third morning of our stay I asked that the room be serviced, explaining it had been missed. The clerk on duty then said "Oh." So I asked if that was normal and she said "You must have had your 'do not disturb' sign up. I told her we didn't. No apology. The whole time we were there the hall carpets were in great need of vacuuming. The lighting in our room was so dim it was hard to see to read in bed and definitely to do work at the table (high) that was supposed to function as the desk. At breakfast the coffee was really good and the attendant for the breakfast room was noticeably different from the rest of the staff as she was welcoming, cheerful and able to keep ahead of the demands, even on the day there were groups of hockey players and softball players and their parents all arriving in the breakfast room at once. Things were well stocked and she managed to anticipate very well, all with a pleasant smile. The rest of the staff at reception were indifferent. Bedding was nice. This was our third Holiday Inn Express in 10 days and by far the least well managed. It's not dirty but you can certainly do better at a different one or a competitor in the area I would imagine.
"Wonderful night with Holiday inn express"
06/04/14 francischien09 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
I was back to Connecticut to attend the commencement of my alma mater. I stayed a night in Newington Holiday inn express. Upon arrival, we were greeted by cordial stuff who was very helpful and pleasant even though we arrived very late at night. The hotel room was new, huge, and comfortable. There's nothing much I would ask for. It was definitely one of the best experience I've had with holiday inn express.

This is a very typical Holiday Inn Express, It's Clean, and well maintained. The staff are all friendly, the breakfast was good. The beds are very comfortable. It's in a great location close to all the local amenities.

I was there 5/1614. It was less expensive than the hotel I usually go to. Considering the alternatives it was a bargain. The room was clean. Bed made up three-sheet style. Bottom sheet, top sheet, and sheet on top of a white duvet - much better than a cover and or quilt that doesn't show the dirt. At any rate the room was clean, plenty of room, and the TV had a better choice of channels than I've seen before. No noise from the hallway or adjacent rooms. But the best was the staff which can either leave me in a bad mood just before going to sleep or ready for sweet dreams. Here there was a warm, friendly yet polite attitude. I had a few minor request that were immediately addressed. The jar of chocolate chip cookies didn't hurt either. I ate early , about 8am. Breakfast had a make your own pancakes. You just pressed a button and two freshly made pancakes came out the side slot in minutes. Also hot eggs, sausage etc. Orange juice was better than average. (not too acidic) Also had the usual cold offerings. Cereals, fruit and such. I had the pancakes, eggs, and sausage. Not a bad way to start the day. Left with a good feeling.
"Nice Room Horrible Breakfast"
04/29/14 zanyce south river, nj
We stayed here for a sports tournament for 2 nights. The first night and the 2nd day the staff were quite pleasurable. The breakfast was horrrible, they kept running out of food and should have ben prepared as they had 40 blocked rooms for the sports evnet and 2 birthdya parties and a funeral booked. Not only did the food tun out, you could not find napkins forks, and the food overall was just not edible. Luckily there is a Dunkin donuts next door. The 2nd evening the entleman at the front desk started screaming at our children for running through the halls and making noise, instead of walking over to us and asking them to quiet down. Obviously if you book out a hotel to birthday parties and childrens events they will tend to get roudy. He then trhreatend to kick the whole team out of the hotel. As stated rooms were nice, beds were comfy, clean but they did not give you enough towels. The indoor pool was a madhouse again as expected with birthday parties, but was very hot and agian no towels.I would not stay here again.
