The hotel prevent guests from bringing food from outside restaurants while the quality and variety of hotel food is not sufficient and. Expensive. This condition was not included in the hotel conditions and policies on the website when I booked.

The hotel is at a great location. However, good luck changing 3 elevators to get to haram. Additionally, being an expensive hotel, it lacks basic things... for eg., the phone lines and internet were down half the time. I have stayed at the Fairmont Dubai back in 2004, we had taken a suit at that time and it was wonderful, we were given a suit here as well and no doubt, it was perfect. I stayed four nights in this hotel. The hotel is very new so everything is shining, the rooms are also spacious, comfortable, clean and have new furniture. I would rate the overall dealing with staff, 6 out of 10. Room service was good too. Its a real five star hotel. Each room is equiped with speaker which broadcast "Adhan" and "prayers (Salat) live […] from Haram, which is excellent. Breakfast is good. The "Abraj AL Bait" complex in which this hotel is located is huge. It has 7 hotels, shopping mall and many more. So it was little bit tiring to walk through all complex and cross shopping mall to reach the main exit/entrance. Once you exit the hotel you are almost in the HARAM. It happened two times with us that while trying to open the room from outside, the key (card) did not work or was de-activated, so we have to go all the way to the reception again to activate the card (I dont know what was the reason) ...may be exceptional case. 1- i called the hotel before i came to the hotel and reserved a Crown Victori car for 430 S.R to take me from Jeddah airport to the hotel in Mekkah. Unfortunatelly, they changed the car with H1 Hundai which was uncomfortable during the journey from jeddah to Mekkah. Also, when i told the reception about the problem they told me it's NOT THEIR BUSINESS […] because there is a transport company which is responsible for this 2- the hotel is under construction and yet not fully open. the hotel consists of about 80 floors and they have 40 floors ready and the up rest floors aren,t ready for the business and GUESS WHAT. they gave me a room N.O 1703 which is next to a huge pipe that is used for throwing the trash of the construction happing the in top floors going down beside me room window and you can hear a loud noise every 3 minutes of the trash falling. i called the reception but it turns that 23845789456 people are having the same problem who got the rooms on the left side of the tower and they didn't even think about giving you a part of your money as a kind of apology. 3- As i said before,there is a big problem with the hotel. the hotel has only 4 ELEVATORS serving the hotel guests. when you hear the calling for Sallah, all people in the hotel leave thier rooms immediately to have the chance to go to the haram mosque. but you have to wait for 15 minutes before you can leave the hotel because more than 100 people are waiting to get their turn in front of the elevators Read more

Stayed at the Makkah Clock Royal Tower - A Fairmont Hotel. It really is a 7 star hotel and not a 5 star like another reviewer mentioned. The service is what you would expect from Fairmont and the location doesn't get any better. Went with wife and a couple friend and hope to go back to this Fairmont every time we go for Umrah or Hajj.

Room was not ready at 6:00 PM. I had to wait 30 more minutes!! The hotel is underconstruction. It should not receive guests. Windows are dirty. Very high noise from construction. Access is difficult. TV system is not working properly. Safebox took 24hours to fix. Water from the shower came out dirty at the begining. This is not Fairmont.

It is longway and very confusing for commen man. The near by hotels like Hilton and Intercontinental both are more convenient in coming and going.
