This is the first time that I have ever stayed in a room without any art and a lack of furniture. The room was quite large, but hardly anything in it. Not one thing on the wall. It was very strange. On the other hand, I loved Moonstone Beach and had a wonderful dinner at the Sea Chest just down the street.

We love this place. It will be even better when the remodel is done. The location is great-right next door to a great restaurant, Moonstone Beach Bar and Grill. Make sure to at least stop in and have a drink with Shawn the bartender - he makes the place memorable!

Beautiful location, hotel staff were pleasant, helpful and efficient. Hotel structure and furnishing are dated and could use an upgrade. The staff mentioned that an upgrade/remodeling is planned within the next six to twelve months.

service service service ... made me feel like I was staying in an exclusive resort. They made reservations for us at a nice place for dinner, took special requests. This was a pit stop for us on the way from LA to San Francisco. Makes us want go back and spend a day or two. This hotel looks just like the others on beautiful Moonstone St. on the water. However it is a nightmare. First room they gave us had a full bed, when we had paid for a king. The room's only other furniture were two broken side chairs that smelled bad and were from 1972. To top it off, the bed was so uncomfortable that we still have back aches 3 days […] later. We complained and were moved to a "better" room. This room had a lovely view of the water and the king bed we were promised, but it smelled horrible, like someone's old shoes. The bed was moderately better, but the room was as ugly. We could hear people in their showers as loudly as if we were sitting in their bathrooms. Horrible experience overall. Read more

Oceanfront room means just that. You are across the small street from the ocean, there is an excellent boardwalk to enjoy an beachside stroll and best of all you can fall asleep to the sound of waves crashing on the rocks. Great location for daytrips to Big Sur and touring Hearst Castle. The decor is a little dated but totally acceptable and the bed […] is comfy. Breakfast in the morning is a bit lacking, my hot chocolate was a pot of boiled water and a packet of swiss miss coca powder and a simple bulk purchased pastry form like costco, but i'm not a breakfast person anyway but if you are you should plan on probably having breakfast somewhere on Main Street in Cambria or 2 miles away in San Simeon. The restaurant/bar next door is relatively decent, super martinis and decent food, they serve lunch and dinner. Staff at the hotel are friendly and accomodating without being overbearing. Read more

What a nice place. Clean, right on the water. You can see moonlight on the water right outside you hotel. There was a fire place, a jacuzzi IN the room, big shower, flat screen. I was disappointed with our room when we first arrived. The room had no dresser or any other place to put our belongings; small bathroom with an odd arrangement and the tiniest of closets. Very poor value for the substantial amount I paid. Ocean "view" (cost extra) was there if you stood next to the window and look diagonally. No doors on closets--you must look at wire racks of towels, iron and ironing board. Old furntiure. Pictures were old rippled prints of photos. We made reservations that included a jacuzzi suite and a free bottle of wine. When we got there they said they were new owners and didn't have any record from the previous owner of a jacuzzi suite for us and they had no liquor license yet so there was no wine. The complementary breakfast was fruit and muffins. Overall we were disappointed.

The hotel had a good location and a great view. The room appeared appealing. However, the dirt under the bed was appalling. The bed sagged incredibly. The screen door to the balcony was broken, so we couldn't enjoy it. Breakfast was delivered the room, but was boring, bananas and oranges with stale muffins. Although the hotel was old, it was completely refurbished with modern amenities, decor and trained staff. We had a front room with ocean view and patio. Not impressed at all with the hotel . Had to put suitcases on the floor along with the very overweight bed comforter. The room had plenty enough space for a suitcase rack or bureau but didn't have any. We asked for hot tea with the continental breakfast, the hot water came in a carafe and tasted like coffee; they should have more sense than that.

The hotel is right in the middle of Moonstone Beach. It is next door to a terrific restaurant and directly across the street from the ocean with no obstructed view. The boardwalk along the beach is lovely and maintained well. There are stairs that take you directly to the tide pools and to a fabulous overlook. The front desk woman was friendly and had many great recommendations. The rooms were clean and linens clean as well. Our room lacked ventilation, but we chose to over look it and open the sliding door to the balcony. Our continental breakfast was simple and delicious. The hot water stations with coffee, tea and hot chocolate are a great idea.

Reserved room with 2 beds because we were friends traveling together...not spouses, not lovers.....just friends. I chose the place because they had a room with 2 beds when I reserved. Considering how much we paid for the room, I was expecting at least a decent breakfast. There was 4 tiny muffins and one tiny glass of orange juice all of which were of the worse quality. Coffee was superdiluted and tasted terrible: we could not dring it. We asked some milk for the kids and they said that they did not have it.

I loved the Jacuzzi hot tub and the fire place! But there was no wireless internet access in our room which drives me a little crazy because I work from home 24/7. I booked online and there were only limited rooms available so I booked a two queen beds room hoping to upgrade when I got there. We love to get one of the jaccuzi suites when we stay there. When we arrived I explained to the very helpful staff at the front desk that I would love to upgrade to a room with a King bed and would love even more to get one […] of the Jacuzzi suites if either were available. We were there to celebrate my Birthday and would just be there for the one night. she got us all signed in and much to my surprise she handed me the key to the suite I wanted and said Happy birthday!!! They are so wonderful at Cambria Landing and this just proved it even more. Thank you so much for always being so wonderful to accomadate your guests!!! Disappointed in view. This was the only room without a balcony on which you could see the ocean. Personnel said that they give Expedia the back rooms. There was one other room with 2 doubles maybe that was why. No alarm clock, no wakeup service. Odd furniture. Entry to the lodge was dark and uninspiring.
