Great hotel in a cool old building.
Good hotel. NB: You have to climb quite a bit of stair.

Clean minimal hotel for good sleepers
This inexpensive hotel is a good deal if you accept the trade-offs you make by saving money. My room had a bed, a chair, and a night-stand, but unfortunately no desk (it would have fit but not comfortably). The window faced Rue St-Catherine, which is somewhat busy street. Due to persistent muffled noise, I would not recommend the room to light sleepers --- however, I sleep very soundly and did not find it a problem. According to the information folder, one can get free earplugs from the reception. The bathroom had a toilet, a sink, and a stand-in shower. Unfortunately, the showerhead was afixed to the wall, rather being on a flexible hose. That make it more difficult to wash my bottom parts. Wireless worked reliably for me, in so far as e-mail and light web browsing are concerned. If your rate does not include breakfast, you would need to pay 7CAD for the breakfast. It consists of bread (4-piece toaster is available), some basic donuts, apple+orange juice, coffee+tea, hard-boiled eggs (whose temperature is subject to your luck), basic croissants, and very sweet youghurt with some fruit. There are instant oatmeal sachets, but no bowls. Surprisingly, there are no cereals of any kind. Important note: the 767 airport bus from/to airport costs 10CAD (not 9CAD as the hotel information folder claims), which is payable only in COINS (not bills). You can also buy a transit card at various locations.

Do NOT stay in this hotel nor area
Our stay was certainly not the best we have had in Montreal. The hotel was "OK." We know it was in the arts district BUT we were a little taken aback with the businesses surrounding the hotel. The hotel had a very odd set up and we DID have a suite that was pretty quiet (a little loud at night but not awful). It was suggested that we park in the (outside) lot directly behind the hotel. The website indicated it was $20/night to park. It was actually $30/ night so we handed over $60 cash PLUS a tip to the "gentlemen" that were working the lot. When we went to our car on Sunday the back window was smashed to pieces and he entire truck was torn apart (any paperwork, cds, miscellaneous items found were tossed all over). The lot attendant did not seem to much care. When we asked about the HUGE "24 hour surveillance" sign above the booth he said it wasn't caught on the tape. Some surveillance. Although the hotel does not own the lot they should be careful directing their guests to stay there. They should also at least pretend to care that the stay ended in such a fashion for us. I would NEVER stay at this hotel again and I would strongly urge anyone who asked to NOT CONSIDER staying in this hotel nor this area unless there is underground parking with legit employees who will actually watch over the vehicles and belongings of the guests.

Not informed that the "lst floor" was one long flight of stairs up and not equipped to deal with handicapped person which one of us was. Most of the staff was helpful in getting luggage up all those stairs.

The room was comfortable and quiet at night. The continental breakfast was worth it and the breakfast room was really nice. The hotel is near the main attractions in town. There are plenty of restaurants nearby. The only part I did not like was to have my bathroom across the hallway from my bedroom. Yes, I had to leave the room to use the toilette or shower.
