Bannatyne Spa Hotel - St. Leonards (East Sussex)

Great location. We went to Rye and Bodiam Castle one day and the other to Lewes. Lovely hotel—large rooms and the food was very good with the exceptions of the steaks one night. The staff was really friendly, a nice big room with a comfortable bed, and a nice leather sofa, the bath robes was lovely too. The breakfast was to die for, one of the best I have had.

Staff very helpful and friendly. But lighting very very poor in bathroom and rooms. For a female trying to apply make up it was a trial! Plug in sink did not work so had continual running water to wash as could not fill the sink. Restaurant very chilly it's a Conservatory and at night no blinds so look out into the black night and not cosy at all.Bar […] area very comfortable.Shame about above bad points as hotel very smart to look at with lovely interior design and fires and staff lovely. We enjoyed our 5-night stay in this hotel, set in its own grounds. It's a short walk from the hotel to the Health Club & Spa but a great facility when you get there. Our Exec Double room was fine, service was very good from friendly staff. the hotel is set in lovely grounds and the standards of the rooms and social areas(bar and restaurant) was very high. The customer service provided by the staff was of a high quality. The breakfast was of a good quality although wasn't that impressed with the scramble eggs although the bacon and sausage was excellent. The food served in the restaurant […] in the evening was fantastic, wonderfully cooked and well presented. The bar had a good selection of drinks and not too badly priced and not too bad an ambience ( although could have done without x-factor on the T.V. or T.V. altogether), really enjoyed our stay and the local area, would quite happierly recommend to our friends and go back again, although we want to try the one in somerset with the Duncan Bannatyne designed room. The hotel is beautiful, and the spa factilities very good. The only dissappointments were that the pillows were very lumpy and so I didn't sleep too well. What a pleasant surprise - finally a good restaurant and great staff in a british hotel. Excellent food (from a french and scottish couple), reasonable prices and good service. Hotel rooms are a litte basic - and pretty unusual to have a 4'6 bed in 2011. Bathrooms could do with an upgrade. Great location and very quiet.

The restaurant was great. The rest of the hotel was pleasant, but the feel of the spa was more public gym than 'spa hotel'. not really suitable for a romantic getaway
