Despite its novelty the hotel lacks a number of things that parts it from a real 5 star hotel. We could not find a hotel directory in the room. The hotel is new and clean but it is very quiet, there is no buzz and very few people walking/sitting around. The room service was very slow and the restaurant in the hotel was not good enough. The view and the pool were beautiful even though the jacuzzi they had beside the pool was not really a jacuzzi.

I knew we had a winner on our hands when we got thru the check in process. The staff welcomed us with complimentary drinks, towels, and completely de-stressed us before we even got to our room. It is as if as soon as we went thru the doors, we left all our concerns, including our baggage. When we finally got to the room, it was already there, placed […] for us. The service was attentive and responsive. The breakfast was well done. The room itself was very spacious and really well laid out with great linens. Pool and beach were sparsely populated, which was great, b/c we did not want to experience the typical busy beach, nightclub routine. The ambience was more relaxed, more secluded and exclusive than the beach resorts. One thing to consider is the fact that the Danna is (relatively) far from the 'main city' so that strolling out into the city is not an option. Great stay, I would whole heartedly recommend. This is by far the most delightful experience I have ever had at a Hotel. The Danna Langkawi is a Luxury hotel. The Hotel boasts the best infinity pool that I have ever seen anywhere. I especially like to thank the Customer service manager, who would ensure that you are taken care of as if you are the only person staying at the hotel. In general the stay was excellent - the staff were very friendly the rooms comfortable - we had a view to the court yard rather than the sea which was very pleasant and caught the morning sun. The gym and spa facilities were very good and in line with the rest of the hotel. The spa treatments were expensive in comparison to what you can get in the townships […] but if you factor a taxi ride there and back there's not much in it. The pool is excellent and long enough to do lengths if that what you want or just relax in it and look out to sea. Breakfast was very good with a great selection of foods available. We did not have an evening meal in the hotel as there were a number of other restaurants offering different meal types within a few meters of the hotel. The only two criticisms that I can comment on were 1. The poolside staff were difficult to attract their attention in order to order a drink etc. 2. Check out took quite some time - not helped by some very rude guests barging in front and changing money - there are only two check out desks so that's a bit of a bottle neck. Read more

We booked 3 rooms at the Danna for a family holiday and we really enjoyed it. The service was top notch, the staff were very hospitable and the rooms were spacious and well laid out. The hotel itself is impressive (it adopts a colonial look) and has excellent facilities. The pool, in particular, is amazing. It's huge! For those traveling with children […] (like myself), the hotel has a Kiddies Play Room where there are toys, activities etc. for children to play with and a nanny can be hired to take care of your children if needed. The staff were all very professional and helpful. They were courteous and took a keen interest in us, especially our children. That said, there are some downsides: 1. The breach isn't the best. It's only OK so don't expect powder white sand and clear blue sea. 2. The hotel location is a bit far off from Kuah and Cenang (the busier spots on the island). It takes about 20-30 mins by car but the roads are easy to navigate. The hotel is, however, close to the cable car ride and related attractions which are a mere 5 mins away. 3. Hotel food can be pricey so unless you're willing to drive or walk out, be prepared to pay premium if you want to eat in the hotel (food quality is not bad though). (Note that car rentals are easy to do in Langkawi so driving around is not an issue, plus there's ample parking at the Danna.) Notwithstanding these downsides, the Danna is a great hotel. We enjoyed our stay and would certainly consider returning to the Danna in the future. Read more

My wife and I stayed at the Danna from 11.03.12 to 16.03.12.The hotel ltself lived up to our high expectations. The facilities were excellent, and especially worthy of mention is their first class Spa. The beach is beautiful and quiet with no one trying to sell souvenirs to you. We had lunch on the beach three times and felt we were alone on a desert […] island. Perfect. The English of the staff varied from excellent to quite poor, but we also experienced the same in one of Singapore's best business hotels the week before, and it might be a general problem for top hotels in the region. With so many hotels competing for the best staff it might be impossible to ensure that all the staff have the necessary language skills. Still the Danna staff were a friendly bunch and very service minded and this helped to make up for it. Another minus was that internett connections were erratic and many times slow both in the bedroom and in the public areas. For those guests who need to attend to business mails during their holidays this could be problematic, but surely can be easily fixed by management. There is one last issue I wish to mention. One of the reasons I chose this hotel was its close proximity to a yachting marina with a number of restaurants which had received good reviews. I believe very few guests wish to eat all the time at their hotel no matter how good the food. Two of the restaurants did not have hygienic wash room facilities. I believe it would be in the Danna's best interests to establish a committee of all restaurant owners at or around the marina so that certain basic standards could be enforced. To end on a positive note the marina had one of the best restaurants( Privilege) we have ever eaten at in the Far East and we have visited and lived in the region for over 25 years. The one downside is that the grounds are quite small and the surrounding area features a rather dismal harbour and some fairly scuffy restaurants. Great little touches such as fresh orange juice brought to the room for early morning departure, ice bucket filled with turn down service. At the pool old cloths were ganded out as well as iced water. On down side the menu was great for evening buffet but food was tepid. My family and my sister's family (a total of 9 people) stayed 3 nights at The Danna last week. We were met with a very friendly reception upon arrival. We were provided with free refreshing cold drinks and shoulder massage while we were checking in. The shoulder massage was a real bonus. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, especially the swimming pool […] area. However, the pool water is a little bit murky. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable. My only complaint is flies and ants. But then we are in a troprical country. The food is of good quality and variety. If you do not fancy having meals at the hotel, there are many other restaurants in the neighbourhood. You will not be running out of choices there. We had also gone for a 4 hours jet ski tour via the hotel. The staff is very helpful in making the arrangement for us. It is rather expansive but the experience is worth it. Even my 6 years old son enjoy it a lot except for the return journey when the sea was a little bit rough. It is quite safe if you follow the instructions. On the whole, we had a great time there. I would definitely recommend this hotel especially for the honeymoon couples. We saw the hotel staff arranging the table and settings for a romantic dinner at the beach. It is absolutely beautiful and romantic. We can see the staff really paying attention to details in setting the table and the lighting. We are very impressed. Read more

usually there's one little thing that niggles at us in hotels, but not this hotel. It was faultless. We purchased Expedia deal of merchant room and had a private balcony overlooking lush internal garden. Room was very spacious and bathroom the most luxurious we've had at non suite level. Towels were huge, thick & new. Daily tropical fresh fruit & filter […] water bottles. Immaculately clean. The hotel is new yet everything works perfectly. I even trusted the water!! Breakfast can be outdoors or inside and the restaurant manager even got my favourite spread in specially. Lovely variety and v.fresh food. Upmarket harbour opposite so could choose from many restaurants & dutyfree bars and look at luxury yachts moored alongside. 全てにおいて大満足です。 ホテルのスタッフの対応は素晴らしいです。みなさんとても親切です。 チェックインする際も、ウェルカムドリンクがあったり、マッサージもありました。 フロントで用事を頼み、待っている間もドリンクをもってきてくれたりと、いたれりつくせりです。 朝食バイキングも全ておいしく、ドリンクはシャンパンもあります。 。 135室ありますが、そんなに混んでいないの広いプールをほぼ一人占めできます。 ランカウイという土地柄、ショッピングは楽しめませんが、のんびりするには最高のホテルです。 おすすめです！
