Breakas is secluded, idyllic and peaceful - the perfect spot to 'get away from it all'. Staff were friendly and reliable. Loved our little fare tucked away in the tropical gardens which was still close enough to the sea to hear the waves crashing onto the beach at night. Food in the restaurant wasn't always brilliant but the general pleasure of being […] in such a lovely spot more than made up for this. Upon arrival we felt very welcome, it was a bit of a worry when we were taken to our room, walked in to find other peoples luggage! luckily the mistake was fixed and we were able to settle into our correct room - must have been an oversight by staff who were very busy whilst preparing the new years eve party they […] threw with great food, drinks, fireworks and various entertainment - we were very impressed. We went to this resort on a family member's recommendation, they were there in March of 2012 and said it was wonderful, what happened between then and December. We found that we were not the only ones complaining,there were various issues. Firstly room service was a bit hit and miss, it was a bit of a lucky dip as to supply of towels, some days no bath […] mat or no hand towels and one couple we know of had to share one towel for a few days even after repeatedly asking for more towels. Food: The continental breakfast was the poorest we had ever had anywhere. The friut was about the only thing that was nice, the pastries were so bad that it would have been better not to them, they were tasteless and seemed stale, the muffins were heavy and had no flavour. On two occasions the butter ran out and was not replaced as indeed nothing was replaced when it ran out.The coffee was not hot and no one came to ask if you would like a top up. We only had one lunch there and it was not good, and dinner was less than average. The day we arrived(Boxing Day) there was a Melanesian feast,but we decided to go A-la-Carte,as we were celebrating our wedding anniversay, and it took 2 hours before we received our meal and then it was not what we had ordered and it,was very disappointing, so we ate elsewhere thereafter. Breakas is a resort on a gorgeous location on the southern corner of the island, away from the bustle, with its cabins draped around a gorgeous tropical beach. The staff is friendly and always helpful and the cabins are well-maintained. If it is rest and relaxation that you're after, this place has it on offer in spades.

Very deceived and very angry. Poor service and no attention at all! When we checked-in, the reception was so unfriendly, if you guess a smile you are lucky. They thought the breakfast was not included so they wanted me to pay for it. They said that all the bookings with Expedia did not include breakfast so they apparently don't know how to look at a […] reservation. I ended up trying to find an internet cafe at night (whereas wifi was also included in my package) in Port Vila in order to be able to find another confirmation showing that the breakfast was included. No apologies at all, The next morning, one of the staff, probably the F&B manager almost yelled at us while asking for our room number. Other customers were also surprised that it was made in a such agressive way. Finally, I asked if we could have our room a couple of hours more since our flight was scheduled in the afternoon. No way, if we stay in our room they have to charge us something outrageous. When we checked out, the guy at the reception were not even looking at us, but kept talking to another guy while pointing us our bill and taping consistently with his finger the extra money we had to pay. I don’t know how this hotel is managed but do not call you a luxury resort when you don’t know how to focus customer service. Get at least the right information on your bookings, and sometimes a bit of commercial gesture would have allow us to give a more positive review. Read more

My husband and I needed a quick getaway to totally relax. We got it at Breakas Beach Resort, in Vanuatu. We stayed in a beach front fare, with outdoor shower. The fare was really roomy and just steps away to our part of the beach. The local staff are a delight and a pleasure to be around. Don't forget though, that everyone works to 'island time', so at times service is a little slow, though as you are holidaying and relaxed, you 'go with the flow'. The only negative for me was having an outdoor shower, it does get a little messy with outdoor debris from the local vegetation. Located on a white sandy beach with tropical vegetation for shade. Lounge chairs & hammocks are scattered along the beach which goes down to crystal clear water. The sunsets overlooking the beach are a pleasure to watch. The beach fares are positioned just back from the beach then more gardens then garden fares. My wife and I stayed for a week at Breakas for our wedding September 2012. When we arrived a number of us were greeted in the foyer by the owner, George, who was covered in sweat and looked quite flustered, but appeared to genuinely care about whether we knew where everything was, the activities, and the best way to get to town and back. The pool, the restaurant and the open-air couch area is bare metres from the white sand and crystal blue water and the sight of it all put us into such a relaxed mood. The bungalows are skirted by beautiful tropical gardens divided by sand pathways that are shaded by tall palm trees. The staff constantly raked the sand to keep it nice, and swept the sand from the steps...everything was always so pristine and natural-looking. A sore point for us was how little any of the staff cared that we were getting married there in just 2 days....we were put in bungalow 104 which is literally 5 footsteps from the bar and restaurant , and my request to move to anywhere that was further away for the wedding was met with a casual and indifferent 'no'. At night time and again at 530am the noise of the pool table, staff laughing and talking, even the clink of utensils and grinding of table legs kept us awake (the bungalows are open-air so you cant "sound-lock" yourselves into the room). The staff got better, and the resort is spectacular...just dont stay in bungalow 104 or 103. Read more

There were no hair driers and the restaurant toilet was always smelly - really badly I suppose have a free wi-fi and I did not get it at the end as the hotel manager claimed a mistake! I had to show him an email and take my laptop. The manager was a bit rude about that. Also when checking in I did not have the print out and they were not happy about […] that. I have to log in to my email and forward the email. I saw the envelope with my name so they had my booking so I don't see the point to waste paper. Another point to make is the reef around the hotel. It is very destroyed and the owner is doing NOTHING to prevent the damage. Sad The last point is the food price and its quality. I booked a buffet dinner for $30 and it was really bad. Breakas is nice, but it is not overly luxurious. This isn't a complaint, but it does translate into a few little issues that may or may not bother you depending on what experience you're after. For instance: the fares are open air. This means that although there are cooling breezes so it's not too hot, you can never get away from the humidity (books […] will be damaged). While the bedrooms are sealed with fly screens, the bathroom is not, so there can be mosquitos in there at night. Also, the shades can't be adjusted to keep light or wind out (and when the lights are on inside at night, it is quite easy for passers by to see in, which may concern people who like their privacy). Otherwise the rooms are fine, and decently appointed for the price. Mosquito nets over the beds do help with the privacy issue. As for the rest of the resort, the food and drinks are very decent, and the pool is great. Beach lounging facilities (sunshades, recliners, hammocks) are all really good. Staff are for the most part very friendly and helpful. You can snorkel and see colourful fish just metres from the shoreline. A final note concerns the music. If you stay here, be prepared for monotonous repetitions of the same "classic rock", 90s pop and easy listening music hour after hour, day after day, in the otherwise comfortable and pleasant restaurant/bar area. I asked a senior staff member one day if he could arrange for different music, but nothing happened. Read more

We stayed in a Garden View Fare. Despite the amenities in Expedia (and my follow-up email to the Resort) saying there is 'premium television channels', there is no television in the room and only one outdoor TV viewing area that you have to share with all the other guests. There definitely wasn't a microwave. Ironing board, hairdryer and blankets etc […] are available, but you have to ask for them at reception and it can take a long time for them to be brought down. There is actually very little in the room itself. I did not like the open air shower/bathroom - our bathroom was very run down and every morning we would go in and find heaps of broken off coral/sand over things we had left around the sink. There was also a fair bit of mould around the sink, taps and the coral in the shower. The hotel staff were friendly, but service (particularly at the bar) was often very slow. The continental breakfast was of good variety and was complimentary for our stay. We ate at the restaurant a few times and found it quite good. The seafood is always very fresh and tasty. This hotel is not in the same league as the 5-star resorts you find in other tropical areas, such as in Fiji. I won't stay at Breakas the next time we go to Vanuatu. Read more

Les accros de la télé passez votre chemin car par de téléviseurs dans les chambres mais ça ne pose aucun problème. Les équipements de l'hôtel sont supers: hamacs un peu partout, chaises longues, fauteuils sur le sable, piscine à débordement..... […] Bref un petit paradis pour un repos bien mérité d'autant plus que les enfants de moins de 15 ans ne sont pas autorisés donc calme absolu: en dehors du chant des oiseaux et du ressac de la mer.
