Well appointed and spotless this B and B in a quiet neighbourhood was sufficiently close to town. The breakfast was excellent and the speed if the WiFi put most hotels to shame. Recommended!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The Dunn Thing is by far the best B&B I have stay at to date! The facilities were very clean, the bedspread and mattress plush and inviting, and the proprietor, Shiela, was incredibly welcoming and accommodating. My gf and I came in on a late flight around 12 am and Sheila stayed up to greet us at the door and escort us to our room. Beautiful individual […] bathrooms and a small tv for relaxing in bed. The breakfast was the best things about the entire experience! Full Scottish breakfast, delicious coffee, and very neat and smartly furnished dining room. Do not miss this place! "Good B&B at an affordable rate"
We stayed at The Dunn Thing guest house while spending a weekend in Ayr to visit the local Culzean Castle and Robert Burns museum, and only a short walk to the beach and city centre. Mrs Dunn was very helpful - waited up for us on our 11pm arrival and offered advice on things to do locally. The full Scottish breakfast was great, and the room itself […] was small and slightly old looking but very clean and neat. Overall a good service at a reasonable price. "great location, fantastic sevice"
Excellent in every respect. Wonderful breakfast. They could not be more helpful and accommodating. The landlady even drove us to our wedding! Two minutes from town centre.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

Bed a bit small, otherwise everything was perfect.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Pretty house on pretty street"
This is a nice house in a pretty neighborhood. The ceilings are high and the rooms are spacious. A great place to stay if you're flying out the next morning (it's 10 minutes from Prestwick airport). The owner seemed a bit put out that we were there. Maybe we just caught her on a grumpy day.Genuine Expedia guest review
Stayed here for 1 night to catch the bus/ferry to Ulster in the morning. But B&B operator wasn't home to check me in at 4 pm so I stood in the rain waiting. Woman went to babysit her grandkid an hour away and was taking the bus home! Not the sort of thing a paying customer expects from a hotel. No complaints about the room or location, however.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Nice away break"
Dunn Thing is a nice B&B in a secluded area of Ayr. Short walk for pubs , dinning. Room was clean. Tea and Coffee facilities with lots of milk etc , unusual as just usually get enough for one cup in most places. Shower toilet small but no problem , shower no powerfull but adequate for our needs. TV was on small side and a bigger one wall mounted would […] help , but didnt detract from stay. Breakfast was lovely with lots to eat. Proprieter was very helpfull and pleasant. Local Indian Basrais is worth seeking out as buffet has lots to offer , choice of indian , chinese , italian and an ice cream bar for kids. Well worth a visit. As is Twa Dugs pub which is close , good selection of whiskeys and live music which is good. Had a pleasant overnight stay and would use again for longer stays. Worth seeking out. very good value. We were using this B&B as we were at a wedding at the Savoy Park hotel. As a result the location was excellent, price good and accomodation ideal. We had a room with an on-suite toilet and we could access the room any time we required. Breakfast was good and the hospitalty excellent.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Proprietari molto gentili e disponibili. C'era disponibile per la notte prenotata anche una camera molto più grande di quella che ho prenotato e me l'hanno proposta allo stesso prezzo. Ottima colazione. Consigliabilissimo B&BGenuine Expedia guest review
"Fine for one night"

Passing through Ayr, we booked a room for one night only. Had a ground floor double room with a bathroom built into the corner. Slept well, bed was comfortable and the breakfast which was served to us by the owner’s very friendly and pleasant helper, was good though until we read the menu, we were unaware of the fact that if you wanted black pudding or haggis it had to be ordered the previous night! Should we ever visit Ayr again, would not stay here since the atmosphere was not welcoming.

Good afternoon. Stayed here with my son for one night stay. But was very disappointed with the way the landlady made me feel. It was like she never enjoyed running the bed and breakfast and she was forced to do so to pay the mortgage. Wasn't made to feel very comfortable nd the lady didn't have a nice manner at all. Wouldn't recommend to stay here sadly.
"Good quality B&B in Ayr"

We stayed two nights here in Ayr. Rooms are spacious and spotless and the breakfast menu is very broad for a B&B. The property has excellent high-speed wifi which is easy to access with the password provided. Service is of a high quality and the location is nice, being only a few minutes from the town centre and about 5 mins from the train station, with regular service to Glasgow etc. We would stay again if we're in Ayr...

"SOOO rude on phone - asked for manager and told to go away !!!"

I got a workmate to call up here to speak to manager to ask if we could book some rooms for a longer period of time. When she called she got answered by Mrs Dunn - |She asked if we new the managers name, when my workmate said no - she simply told her to get too and hung up the phone. I have NEVER came across someone as rude as this in the hospitality industry before in my life. I called her back and explained why we were calling and she laughed and tried to say sorry - obv seeing the £££ going down the sink - would never use this place or recommend anyone again

I’m glad I didn’t read certain Trip Advisor reviews before booking here as it would have put me off what was a lovely place to stay. I stayed here with my partner after our other B&B reservation fell through due to a double booking and it was recommended to us by the owner of the other B&B. The guesthouse is absolutely beautiful. It is homely, welcoming and very tastefully decorated. It’s in a brilliant location- a 10 minute walk to town centre and beachfront, and close to several pubs and restaurants, but in a quiet street away from it all. Possibly not relevant, but the neighbours are extremely friendly. The owner, Sheila, was very kind, friendly and helpful. She recommended nice places for my partner and I to visit, and spoke to us at length about our plans and how our day had been. I’m baffled by other reviews saying the contrary. Nothing was too much trouble for her. A man at breakfast asked for a croissant. Sheila herself drove there and then to the supermarket so that this man could have one. My partner and I both had the cooked breakfast, and I could not fault it at all. It was very enjoyable. The lady who was serving was also lovely, attentive and so polite. She even checked if my coffee was ok, if I would like it stronger or weaker and that she could make it again if I so desired... (The coffee was perfect). The room was beautiful and modern, and with plenty of space. It was decorated to the same standard as the rest of the house, and I felt entirely at home. The bed was comfier than my own. We had a lovely weekend, and I’m so glad we booked here. It was brilliant value for money and we had a lovely stay. It is clear that the owner puts a lot of effort into running a nice guesthouse, and I would like her to know that her efforts have paid off, and that we are definitely guests who will be returning. P.S I would advise other guests/reviewers to not use the owner’s personal bathroom, as was obviously the case in another review. This may be this lady’s business, but it is also her home. Doors marked private should be treated as such. This is a basic matter of respect.
"This is a great place to stay with a short walk into town."

The owner was very pleasant and the house is very nicely decorated. We stayed one night in a family room which could sleep four. The breakfast in the morning was excellent with a good choice. It is a short walk to the start of the town centre a d has a good array of shopping.
Owner Mrs. Dunn upon arrival did not greet us rather showed us the room and left. There was no welcoming and nice spirit just a hard hearted person. When attempting to speak to her she mearly walks on by without talking back at all. Also, there is only 1 bathroom to use and if you use any other bathroom because i had a full room with 3 other people she starts screaming and yelling and beating on your door. My best recommendation if you look to stay here is to find somewhere else where the owner welcomes you into their establishment.
"A handy B&B to stay."

I stayed here sometime in October, during October break, it was a nice place, very homey, and the breakfast wasn't that bad. Though there's not much of a selection. The kids enjoyed playing on the lounge with the doll house. The owner was quite friendly and helpful. The beach is just a walking distance and so the town centre...very handy. and reasonable price too. Location-Very good Cleanliness- Very good. Food- good Price- Good. comfort- very good.
"Nice average B&B"
04/02/13 AuM2008 Edinburgh, United Kingdom
Stayed 3 nights on a breakaway to chill out. Location is very good. City centre easy reachable with lots of restaurants and shops as well as the beach all on your doorstep - easy walking distance. Good choice of breakfasts (Continental, cooked - if haggis and black pudding wanted it had to be given notice the evening before, vegetarian, porridge, cereals, fruit, jus, toast). We had cooked breakfast - quite good but on the fat dripping side. Owner was not seen too much, not very approachable or gave more the impression she does not want to be disturbed too much. If here she very nice tough. Room was clean, nicely decorated (just refurbished), double bed on the small side (only queen size) and bathroom apart from the shower also very tiny.(room 3)
