"Perfect Stay"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 4, 2012
The Westin was perfect! Stayed in a suite with friends for a weekend away. The hotel was clean and the service was great. The location is perfect for walking and dining in the old port and totally accessible if you want to spend time downtown or further North. No complaints!
"Perfection in Old Montreal"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 3, 2012
We only stayed the one night at Place d'Armes hotel, on our way back to Vancouver and then home, but we wished we had more time, and will return. The hotel staff were both welcoming and efficient (not a combination one often finds), and the hotel itself was immaculate in every respect. The room was flawless in its design, the bed was soft enough to be comfortable, but not so soft as to feel like one is clambering from a bean-bag, upon rising, (as I found in so many hotels in the States!) I particularly appreciated that the designers had eschewed a bath/shower combination in the large bathroom, and installed a large, stone-clad, walk-in shower with a beautiful glass shower screen, instead. The location of the hotel was perfect for exploring Old Town Montreal by foot, which was just what we wanted to do, since we only had the one night. When we checked out, we left our luggage with Place D'Armes, mentioned when we would return for our flight and, when we did, a taxi was already awaiting us. Immaculate service.
"Comfortable & Convenient"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 2, 2012
Very comfortable room; close to airport - which is what I wanted.
""Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 1, 2012
Room was good - a great value for the price! Just a few minor complaints - TV remote didn't work; a little noisy late at night (Saturday night; we were next to the elevator). Beds: very comfortable. Pillows, not so much (overly firm). Bathroom small but clean, bath/shower good, water pressure and temperature fine. Nice pool, adequate gym. Convenient in/out parking, reduced price with hotel validation. Front desk staff: helpful and polite.

"Very nice hotel"
I was pleased to discover this hotel downtown. It's quiet and very clean. I like the style that mixes contemporary looks with wood logs as desks!

"Chez Swann Hotel Boutique - downtown Montreal"
The hotel was very nice; modernly decorated with an inviting feel. The standard room was smaller than we anticipated but the bathroom was very spacious and it was definitely enough room for two of us. The breakfast in the attached restaurant each morning, I would probably call something like gourmet breakfast pastries, different from our habitual bowl […] of cereal but very nice. Also nice that the hotel, rooms A very small amount of people so it felt homely walking in and out without getting stuck in a big crowd. The location was perfect, right in the middle of downtown Montreal, close to the Bell Centre, walking distance to plenty of bars and shops. A couple of the concierges couldn't speak very good English though so we occasionally weren't able to get a lot of tourist help from them. The only real complaint we had was that there was an unpleasantly funk smell that wafted through our room. We weren't sure if it was from the cleaning or the fan, it woke us up one night smelling fairly unpleasant but I suppose it was our fault for not asking to change rooms. Read more
"Hotel Chez Swann - unique hotel"
I stayed at the Hotel Chez Swann for 2 nights on business. I am in Montreal frequently and usually am staying by the airport in Dorval so any opportunity to stay downtown in relished. This hotel was very unique, but a great change of pace. The rooms were fairly small, but well appointed. The only complaint I would have is that is was a tad noisy the […] 2nd morning as the people above sounded like they were just pacing their room for 2 hours or so, but it wasn't a huge deal. The free breakfast (pastries and coffee) was excellent. The location of the hotel is perfect. Parking was very reasonable only a half a block down for $18/night. Overall I was very happy with my stay here and would definitely stay again. Read more
"Great hotel and very centeral"
Overall very happy with their service...Breakfast can use some improvement and more variety.
"Interesting Design"
The one con would have to be the lack of a sign for the hotel. However, they are waiting on approval, so it's forgivable. Our room had a floor-to-ceiling window in the shower that looked into the bedroom. I couldn't get over that particular feature. If I wanted to come back to Montreal on a romantic trip with my wife, I could see us staying there again. Plus, […] it's an easy walk from several shopping areas! Read more

"LOVED Chez Swann"
I travel extensively and truly appreciate properties that display a sense of whimsy and style. Chez Swann does so in spades without sacrificing amenities or creature comforts. I will definitely stay here again and have already recommended it to friends and colleagues who travel to Montreal.
"Very nice hotel with perfect room design"
I liked this hotel a lot. Beautiful room, especially bathroom with two showers. Breakfast was very french.
"Hotel Chez Swann"
My husband and I stayed at Hotel Chez Swann for 4 nights. Our room was very clean and we loved the decor. Hotel Chez Swann is far enough off of the main strip that rooms are quiet for sleeping, but it is a comfortalbe walking distance to many museums, stores, coffee shops, restaurants, and Metro stops. Our one complaint was the slow wireless Internet […] access in our room. Read more
"Hotel Chez Swann"
Very well located Had internet free, but really slow Good continental breakfast Nice room
Funky little place with killer showers. The breakfast and welcome drink in the adjoining restaurant were nice additions. Parking is off property, but access to Metro is great.
"Wonderful experience at Hotel Chez Swann, Montreal"
I was in Montreal for a conference and ended up choosing between this or the Best Western right near it. Both were almost the same price and I decided that I'd go with the small hotel over the probably more predictable large change. I'm very happy I did! Service was perfect, the room was very unique and well done so I didn't feel wiped out by the beigeness […] of most hotels. The breakfast was amazing. Overall I was ecstatic about the hotel and my service and could not recommend it more than I do. Read more
"Above and beyond"
The willingness of the staff to help me out, during an unexpected situation that occurred, went above and beyond anything I could have possibly expected. The decor is quaint, the location is excellent (within 5 blocks of the convention center, and within 2 blocks of nightlife), and I enjoyed my room's huge moonroof.

"Hotel Chez Swann- so chic!"
My husband and I stayed at Hotel Chez Swann for a weekend getaway in Montreal. We loved the chic decor of the hotel. The room was great, especially the double showers. The hotel was close to shopping, bars, and restaurants, and only a short taxi ride from Old Montreal. The hotel may be a bit hard to find, being that it is a small hotel. Luckily, we […] had our GPS so we did not have a problem. We will definitely come back to Hotel Chez Swann when we visit Montreal. Read more
"Park at garage at 1414, hotel on left!"
Hotel is IMPOSSIBLE to find. We KNEW it was from other reviews and still couldn't find it. They do not have their own lot, they give you a coupon for the garage at 1414 Drummond (on the left, start of the block after Rue Ste-Catherine). Hotel is on the left in the LAST building before Rue Maisonneuve - blue-lit glass door next to smoothy place. There's […] NO sign. Once parked, hotel is kitschy but a nice experience. Bathroom is fancy. Breakfast was not overly broad, but complimentary and the pastries were delicious - definitely first come-first served. Hotel is central to many sites, a decent half hour walk gets you to the old part of town, an easy walk takes you to the steps up to Mont Royal, there are museums, churches, restaurants and clubs (of all varieties) right outside. "Great Boutique Hotel"
If you are not looking for a full service hotel this is a great spot. 2 blocks from the metro, nice continental breakfast included. All of the staff speak English and were very helpful. With discount, parking only $15/24 hrs.
"What A Surprise!"
My only criticism of this property would be that they don't have room service. On each and every other detail the hotel exceeded expectations.
"Stay off the 3rd Floor"
Great hotel, stylish, cool comfortable etc. but our room on the 3rd floor had a huge skylight that looked great during the day and at night, but not so great at 5:45 AM when our room was bathed in sunlight. We were in Mtl. for some planned relaxation and the the sunlight nipped part of the plan. Will stay here again, but only if we can guarantee a […] room on the 2nd floor. Once again, the designers chose fashion over function. Read more
centrally located, we were able to walk to most places or take the metro (station was very close). staff was very helpful and friendly. my only complaint was the breakfast, which consisted only of pastries and coffee/juice - a little more variety would have been nice.
"Awesome hotel with Amazing decoration"
I LOVED the decorations at this Hotel...It has a prime Location as well.
"Great Hotel"
Hotel Chez Swann is located very close to the main shopping street, which was very convenient. It was also a very short walk to McGill and longer stroll down to the Old Montreal area. This was a very cozy, three story hotel where every room is unique. Since I am cheap, I booked the smallest possible room and it was still very roomy, the bathroom was […] especially large. My only complaint is that the toilet paper is not very soft, but that is obviously not a big deal. There was also a complimentary breakfast served from 7 AM to 10 AM which consisted of coffee/tea and croissants. It wasn't a huge meal, but enough to get you started for the day. I recommend this unique hotel if you have business near McGill or want to shop at the vast number of stores lining the streets. Read more
"Chez Swann in Montreal"
This hotel is very chic and located right in the middle of everything. These chic hotels sometimes come with a lot of pomp but I was pleasantly surprised in that the staff were friendly and eager to help with any questions that I had. Our room was very comfortable, which was perfect after a looong day of sightseeing. I would stay here again on my next […] visit to Montreal. Read more
"Consider me a convert to boutique hotels!"
I had trouble finding a hotel close to McGill that was in my price range. After increasing my price range just a bit, I found Hotel Chez Swann. The reviews I found online where great, and I'm here to echo and add to them. The place *is* hard to find -- I passed it three times after getting off the airport shuttle that has a stop about three blocks away. […] My room wasn't ready even though I arrived at about 4pm, but I didn't mind: I was starving and was happy to leave my suitcase with the receptionist to grab a tasty salad at the place a few doors down. Once I got to my room about half an hour later, I felt the wait was worth it. Nothing about my suite felt "junior": the bed, bathroom, and television were all larger than I expected. I even had a cool skylight. The décor is a unique mix of the Victorian and the woodsy, and it certainly made my time in Montreal feel special. But I really enjoyed how everything was inclusive: calls to the US and Canada are free, and I drank the bottled water in the room without hesitation. For someone used to chain hotels both modest and fancy, these perks felt awesome. If it matters to anyone, the place seems to wield cultural capital in Montreal. When I mentioned I was staying in "the little boutique hotel on Drummond" to the two Montrealers I met, they smiled at me, seemingly envious of what I was experiencing. =) I'd stay here again, and I'd even try to request the same room. "Chez Swann in Montreal -- eccentric and pleasant"
OK, so the taxi driver had never heard of the place and when we drove up to the address on Drummond, you could still not tell there was a hotel there, and the only thing that hinted at there being something called Chez Swann was a baggage cart and a big "S" on the door, though even the "S" was a bit hard to make out, and so when you walked into the […] place, you still could not really tell that it was a hotel, as there was a large empty hallway with a chalk board on the right with someone's hand etched in chalk (and now "Go Bears!" printed on the board), and only when you reached the end of the hallway and jogged right was someone standing behind two Apple computers smiling and welcoming you to the hotel. But this funky, eccentric three-story rehab turned on the charm at this point in time with friendly service, comfortable rooms (as long as you don't get one with the last two digits of "10"), odd decor, great bathrooms, comfortable beds and the absolute best pastries and coffees in the morning. We ended up upgrading at a cost to get out of room 210 into 309 and it was worth every penny of the upgrade cost. They have a juice bar accesible from the hallway and were cutting the doorway through to their new restaurant as we arrived that late Monday night. So, we expect the place to just keep getting better. We will go back on our next trip to Montreal. Read more
"Hotel Chez Swann..."
We enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel was renovated in September of 2010, and the room still had a bit of a fresh paint smell, but everything was very pleasant (comfy bed, nice spacious room, clean and very modern bathroom). The Front-Desk staff was always very courteous and extremely helpful. The only complaint I have is that the stairwell is shared […] with the restaurant next door that specializes in seafood. It's a nice restaurant, but it is also an odiferous stairwell (this scent is totally confined to the stair well though :). We will likely stay here again during the tourist season (summer), but in the winter, we'll be staying closer to the old port. Read more

"Great hotel, but maybe not the BEST location"
Great hotel- new, clean, friendly staff. Not exactly central, but Montreal is a small and fairly walkable city, so not really an issue. The subways system is also very easy to use.
"Fantastic Botique Hotel"
Fantastic romantic gateway! the staff is fantastic and super nice and the location is amazing as well
"Quirky"
From the moment you walk in, it's a little odd. We thought we had the wrong place. It seemed like a hair salon (the hotel's name appears nowhere). The room is equally odd, with the green shag throw rug, and the multidirectional shower with it's clear view from the bed (there's a curtain, though). But it was a great place. We were treated very well and […] received excellent advice from a very friendly staff. The location is great, too. Close to excellent restaurants on Crescent St (and don't miss the gelato at the Chocolatier around the corner), the Metro, Mont Royal, and McGill University. Read more
"Convenient and chic"
Hotel Chez Swann is right in the heart of the buzzing Golden Mile area and so is very convenient for most things. It's a little unusual that there isn't a restaurant or bar but when there are so many surrounding the hotel that really didn't matter. Our room was really large, very clean and decorated in a plush and unusual manner. It was also laid out […] in a rather striking way with the bed in the middle of the room! It all worked though and we really liked it, especially the large seating area in the bay window. The only slight negative was the size of the bed which I think was just a double. Despite the very central location overlooking a busy intersection there was no issue with noise as the windows seemed well insulated. Free wireless was a plus but we found it pretty slow. It was our first visit to Montreal and we really enjoyed it. However, we would probably stay in the old town on our next visit as this has a lot more character and we spent most of our time there. It was easy enough to get there from the hotel though either walking or via the Metro. Overall, we really liked the hotel which was a bit out of the ordinary, clean and good value. Read more
"Loved it here!"
I booked Hotel Chez Swann because of previous reviews. Location is great. Front desk were extremely helpful and takes customer service to another level. Will definitely stay here again whenever I'm in Montreal again.
"great but painful!"
The hotel and our room were fantastic, and we had a great trip, but the hotel room had one major flaw - the very modern chic bathroom sink was huge with sharp corners, and it caused some serious bruising and injuries to all parties staying in the room.
"Chez Swann"
Funky and trendy but not for its own sake. the quality of the appointments was very high not just interesting for its own sake. It was a nice change from the huge hotel towers that we have used in Montreal in the past. The only negative is this weird charge on your credit card that they use as a "security deposit" that you then have to watch to make […] sure it gets reversed. I would stay there again. Read more

"Montreal's best!"
This swanky, sheek hotel had it all. Great people working at the front desk who were very helpful. The bed, room, and especially the unique shower were all perfect! I almost did not want to leave! Located conveniently to the shopping areas and in walking distance to the metro this hotel was convenient for any occasion. Also, the complimentary breakfast […] was great! "Hotel Chez Swann, Montreal Downtown"
Although I wish I could keep my "Best Kept Secret" to myself, but I feel I do have to share it, because I want to make sure this Hotel stays around for a long time (not that I think there is any danger of that) but since I want to make sure I can go back when I return to Montreal, I thought I better spread the word because I think they deserve all the […] praise for making our stay so enjoyable. The main reason we traveled to Montreal was to and visit McGill University as a prospective University for our son. We wanted to be downtown and not have to rent a car etc... The location was just fantastic, we didn't even have to take public transport either. Everything was just within our reach, McGill was only a few blocks away and then the Museum, the Boutiques, shopping, restaurants everything. We even walked to old Montreal for a lot of our meals. It was our first time at Hotel Chez Swann, and we were so pleasantly surprised. I wanted to feel the urban vibes Montreal has to offer and I found this hotel by coincidence by going on Google which linked us to Hotels.com. I started to compare it's price to other established but predictable hotel chains and this was actually cheaper on the dates we were looking at, so we booked it after reading the reviews and everything they said was true. This "Boutique Hotel" as they call it was just so trendy and fun. We had a blast, and I think they even upgraded our room without even us asking. What I didn't expect was all the complimentary things included in the price of the room..... I won't give it all away but just to name a few.... ( you will have to find the rest for yourselves)..... free wireless high-speed internet, local calls and long distance calls in Canada & the US, There is a safe in the room that accomodates laptops. There is a plasma T.V. free water bottles in the room, a Ipod/Ihome docking station and the best of all was I didn't know that breakfast was included...The morning after we arrive, we went out in search of a plac Read more
"Hotel Chez Swann (Montreal)"
Small Hotel, difficult to get in/out due to no parking. Parking structure in next block. No restaurant in the hotel. Very expensive bistro next door. Small room, but good wifi connection.
"The Chez Swann in Montreal"
Modern, chic boutique hotel just off of Rue Ste. Catherine and around the corner from Rue Crescent Due to a miscommunication on my part, my son and I were upgraded to a Junior Suite. HD Flat screen (which wasn't set up correctly, so it didn't work; but no problem), dual iPod dock clock radio (the Touch didn't fit, no problem), free Wi-Fi, hardwood floors […] and the most amazing bathroom (no tub but dual showers) The beds were very comfortable, especially after crawling through the bars on Crescent. The nicest place we've stayed in Montreal so far. Read more

"Hotel Chez Swann"
Great hotel much more than I expected, beautiful room. Directly downtown were all the action is. Book this hotel without fear of being disapointed. Felt like I was in a 5 star hotel.
"a beautiful hotel, with great staff and located in"
Had a great visit - I recommend it to anyone that is looking for a good hotel experience - not a room with a bed and desk!
"Suite has Only 1 Bed"
Despite the description suggesting the Suite includes Two beds: 1 King 1 Queen It only has a one bed. The staff were aware of the erroneous but did not seem too concerned that it was causing issues for people.
"Incredible Modern & Clean"
We had a wonderful romantic evening with Swann. The rooms were impeccable, the facilities were the best I have seen. Our only feedback was that the pillows were not the most comfortable to sleep on. We would highly recommend this to any couple looking to get away for a week-end or and company looking to put employees up for the night. Thank you Swann […] for a night we truly needed. Read more
"Affordable and cozi"
Stayed at this hotel for one night while visiting Montreal. Loved the location and ambience. Staff was very helpful. I was able to store my luggage at hotel even after checking out. On the flip side, complimentary breakfast left a lot to desire. Also, a preauthorization on my card was made for a security deposit in event of any damage.
