Eclectic well located hotel in the heart of downtown Montreal. Only limitation is lack of coffee. For that, one must visit the restaurant/bistro that shares the building or wander down the block. A great little hotel.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great boutique hotel"
Such a chic cute small hotel, the rain shower is the best shower I've ever taken. Only complaint is the spin room which is instead of a gym, the tv wasn't working in it and the floor in that room needed cleaning badly, but the rest of the hotel was super clean. Would def stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Good,but not great hotel"
The decoration of the hotel room is kind of unique. Room is not that big, but clean. Bathroom is pretty big and clean. Nice LCD TV and furniture. One thing that I was not satisfied is the weird smell of the hotel, like leaked gas or something. And the hotel does not provide free parking and you have to pay $22 for overnight parking nearby.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Bohemian interior very pleasing"
We loved this hotel. We were greeted warmly and checked in quickly. The car Park is just a few yards down the Street but don't be tempted into the open ones across the Rd. The hotel gave us a $4 coupon and we left the car for more than 16 hours for just $22 The bohemian interior was very pleasing and the comfort of the beds and linen were 5 star.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Great for Romance"
My wife and i enjoyed the shower window that looked into the main room. A great hotel for a romantic weekend in Montreal. Close to all the shopping in St Cats and some nightlife on Crescent. A bit of a walk to 'Old Town' - but my wife and I walked down there every day nonetheless, even at night. My only complaint would be that the rooms should have […] a small refrigerator - a necessity for out-of-town long distance travelers. The room was spacious, so it certainly would fit. "Gr8 location, courteous people, lacks few amenities"
Location is great. Rooms were squeaky clean, unique decor, and very helpful staff. But, Parking in downtown Montreal is a hassle, and hotel's contracted parking space costs too much, not to mention once you park the car, you can not take it out for next 24 hours without paying when you want to park again. A small fridge in the room or a business center-esque […] desk in the lobby could make the stay just a tad bit more pleasant. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel Chez Swann was just an amazing experience in every regard. Gorgeous, comfortable rooms, attentive staff, great complimentary continental breakfast, wonderful restaurant next door....ideally located in the heart of the city! "Chez Swann Hotel Boutique - downtown Montreal"
The hotel was very nice; modernly decorated with an inviting feel. The standard room was smaller than we anticipated but the bathroom was very spacious and it was definitely enough room for two of us. The breakfast in the attached restaurant each morning, I would probably call something like gourmet breakfast pastries, different from our habitual bowl […] of cereal but very nice. Also nice that the hotel, rooms A very small amount of people so it felt homely walking in and out without getting stuck in a big crowd. The location was perfect, right in the middle of downtown Montreal, close to the Bell Centre, walking distance to plenty of bars and shops. A couple of the concierges couldn't speak very good English though so we occasionally weren't able to get a lot of tourist help from them. The only real complaint we had was that there was an unpleasantly funk smell that wafted through our room. We weren't sure if it was from the cleaning or the fan, it woke us up one night smelling fairly unpleasant but I suppose it was our fault for not asking to change rooms. "Hotel Chez Swann - unique hotel"
I stayed at the Hotel Chez Swann for 2 nights on business. I am in Montreal frequently and usually am staying by the airport in Dorval so any opportunity to stay downtown in relished. This hotel was very unique, but a great change of pace. The rooms were fairly small, but well appointed. The only complaint I would have is that is was a tad noisy the […] 2nd morning as the people above sounded like they were just pacing their room for 2 hours or so, but it wasn't a huge deal. The free breakfast (pastries and coffee) was excellent. The location of the hotel is perfect. Parking was very reasonable only a half a block down for $18/night. Overall I was very happy with my stay here and would definitely stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great hotel and very centeral"
Overall very happy with their service...Breakfast can use some improvement and more variety.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The one con would have to be the lack of a sign for the hotel. However, they are waiting on approval, so it's forgivable. Our room had a floor-to-ceiling window in the shower that looked into the bedroom. I couldn't get over that particular feature. If I wanted to come back to Montreal on a romantic trip with my wife, I could see us staying there again. Plus, […] it's an easy walk from several shopping areas! "Hotel Chez Swann"
My husband and I stayed at Hotel Chez Swann for 4 nights. Our room was very clean and we loved the decor. This is a very small boutique hotel- totally 3 floors, but very nice decorated, especially the bathroom! The room seems newly remolded and maintained very clean. The location is excellent-at the Montreal's most exciting street- Louis Vuitton and apple store nearby! "Contemporary Hotel with cozy modern rooms"
It is a little tough to locate this hotel since it does not have a billboard with "Chez Swann". Hotel is very contemporary and modern. The room has an interesting setup. Bedroom has LCD TV, Office Desk with Phone, and a Cupboard. Phone calls to US and Canada are free of charge. A glass wall and curtain divides the bedroom from the bathroom. From the […] bedroom one can see "everything" that's happening in the bathroom and shower room. WiFi is fee of charge. Parking is NOT available. You will find to find a parking lot. We took the one next to the hotel for convenience and paid 30$ for almost 11/2 days. Every time you leave the lot, you have to pay. The continental breakfast is in a restaurant within the hotel. It is decent with bread, croissants, coffee and juice. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Wonderful experience at Hotel Chez Swann, Montreal"
I was in Montreal for a conference and ended up choosing between this or the Best Western right near it. Both were almost the same price and I decided that I'd go with the small hotel over the probably more predictable large change. I'm very happy I did! Service was perfect, the room was very unique and well done so I didn't feel wiped out by the beigeness […] of most hotels. The breakfast was amazing. The willingness of the staff to help me out, during an unexpected situation that occurred, went above and beyond anything I could have possibly expected. "Hotel Chez Swann- so chic!"
My husband and I stayed at Hotel Chez Swann for a weekend getaway in Montreal. We loved the chic decor of the hotel. The room was great, especially the double showers. The hotel was close to shopping, bars, and restaurants, and only a short taxi ride from Old Montreal. The hotel may be a bit hard to find, being that it is a small hotel. "Park at garage at 1414, hotel on left!"
Hotel is IMPOSSIBLE to find. We KNEW it was from other reviews and still couldn't find it. They do not have their own lot, they give you a coupon for the garage at 1414 Drummond (on the left, start of the block after Rue Ste-Catherine). Hotel is on the left in the LAST building before Rue Maisonneuve - blue-lit glass door next to smoothy place. There's […] NO sign. Once parked, hotel is kitschy but a nice experience. Bathroom is fancy. Breakfast was not overly broad, but complimentary and the pastries were delicious - definitely first come-first served. Hotel is central to many sites, a decent half hour walk gets you to the old part of town, an easy walk takes you to the steps up to Mont Royal, there are museums, churches, restaurants and clubs (of all varieties) right outside. "Stay off the 3rd Floor"
Great hotel, stylish, cool comfortable etc. but our room on the 3rd floor had a huge skylight that looked great during the day and at night, but not so great at 5:45 AM when our room was bathed in sunlight. We were in Mtl. for some planned relaxation and the the sunlight nipped part of the plan. Will stay here again, but only if we can guarantee a […] room on the 2nd floor. "Awesome hotel with Amazing decoration"
I LOVED the decorations at this Hotel...It has a prime Location as well.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hotel Chez Swann is located very close to the main shopping street, which was very convenient. It was also a very short walk to McGill and longer stroll down to the Old Montreal area. This was a very cozy, three story hotel where every room is unique. Since I am cheap, I booked the smallest possible room and it was still very roomy, the bathroom was […] especially large. My only complaint is that the toilet paper is not very soft, but that is obviously not a big deal. There was also a complimentary breakfast served from 7 AM to 10 AM which consisted of coffee/tea and croissants. It wasn't a huge meal, but enough to get you started for the day. "Comfortable and very well located."
Overall a place I would stay in again. Skipping to the defects (all minor) since this is what I care for in others' reviews (everything not mentioned here was very good to perfect): - frequent rotations of the staff. After 4 nights there i finally could recognize a couple of them. This could be fine but removes any "feeling of being home". Could be […] made better with an over-friendly staff, which is not the case. They are nice but slightly distant (is it a way to look cool?) - elevator is weirdly slow - read in other reviews that some rooms were noisy. Upon checkin I mentioned it and was told our room will be quiet, which revealed to be true. One detail though: each room's door is noisy if one lets it slam, and the sound did wake us up in the morning when people next room went to get breakfast and back, etc. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Consider me a convert to boutique hotels!"
I had trouble finding a hotel close to McGill that was in my price range. After increasing my price range just a bit, I found Hotel Chez Swann. The reviews I found online where great, and I'm here to echo and add to them. The place *is* hard to find -- I passed it three times after getting off the airport shuttle that has a stop about three blocks away. […] My room wasn't ready even though I arrived at about 4pm, but I didn't mind: I was starving and was happy to leave my suitcase with the receptionist to grab a tasty salad at the place a few doors down. Once I got to my room about half an hour later, I felt the wait was worth it. Nothing about my suite felt "junior": the bed, bathroom, and television were all larger than I expected. I even had a cool skylight. The décor is a unique mix of the Victorian and the woodsy, and it certainly made my time in Montreal feel special. But I really enjoyed how everything was inclusive: calls to the US and Canada are free, and I drank the bottled water in the room without hesitation. For someone used to chain hotels both modest and fancy, these perks felt awesome. If it matters to anyone, the place seems to wield cultural capital in Montreal. When I mentioned I was staying in "the little boutique hotel on Drummond" to the two Montrealers I met, they smiled at me, seemingly envious of what I was experiencing. =) I'd stay here again, and I'd even try to request the same room. "Chez Swann in Montreal -- eccentric and pleasant"
OK, so the taxi driver had never heard of the place and when we drove up to the address on Drummond, you could still not tell there was a hotel there, and the only thing that hinted at there being something called Chez Swann was a baggage cart and a big "S" on the door, though even the "S" was a bit hard to make out, and so when you walked into the […] place, you still could not really tell that it was a hotel, as there was a large empty hallway with a chalk board on the right with someone's hand etched in chalk (and now "Go Bears!" printed on the board), and only when you reached the end of the hallway and jogged right was someone standing behind two Apple computers smiling and welcoming you to the hotel. But this funky, eccentric three-story rehab turned on the charm at this point in time with friendly service, comfortable rooms (as long as you don't get one with the last two digits of "10"), odd decor, great bathrooms, comfortable beds and the absolute best pastries and coffees in the morning. We ended up upgrading at a cost to get out of room 210 into 309 and it was worth every penny of the upgrade cost. They have a juice bar accesible from the hallway and were cutting the doorway through to their new restaurant as we arrived that late Monday night. So, we expect the place to just keep getting better. We will go back on our next trip to Montreal. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Hotel Chez Swann..."
We enjoyed our stay very much. The hotel was renovated in September of 2010, and the room still had a bit of a fresh paint smell, but everything was very pleasant (comfy bed, nice spacious room, clean and very modern bathroom). The Front-Desk staff was always very courteous and extremely helpful. The only complaint I have is that the stairwell is shared […] with the restaurant next door that specializes in seafood. It's a nice restaurant, but it is also an odiferous stairwell (this scent is totally confined to the stair well though :). We will likely stay here again during the tourist season (summer), but in the winter, we'll be staying closer to the old port. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Nice hotel with a good location but there were problems service."
We stayed here based on many the good reviews. This was out third time to Montreal, having stayed once in a B & B and larger hotel. The Hotel itself is very nice and in a great location. The room was OK. There was no window to the outside, only a window that overlooked a skylight foyer. The room lacked a few things, i.e. adequate area to put your clothes. […] The shower was the best part of the room but again, the bathroom had no place for toiletries except a very narrow shelf near the sink. Also the only mirror in the room was over the sink. There was no other mirror either in the room or in the wardrobe. The first night the staff completely forgot to clean and make up our room. When we notified the concierge, she immediately brought us new towels, soaps, and chocolates but this really didn't make up for the lack of service. The second night, the staff brought us all new towels, except bath towels - perhaps they were concerned about the numerous towels in the room already from the previous night's mishap the night before, but still no excuse. Also, they left the AC on at 64 and we almost froze to death when we entered the room. This could be a really great little hotel with a few management tweeks and additional room features. From the moment you walk in, it's a little odd. We thought we had the wrong place. It seemed like a hair salon (the hotel's name appears nowhere).
