"A very good experience"
The hotel did not look much at arrival as we came along the street with the car, we drove in to the car park behind the hotel (had to leave the car for a minute at the gate, go in and ask them to open for us). The staff was very professional, friendly and service minded, we found the room to be... well... perfect, (except the bed that was a bit too […] hard for our liking, Staff was informed and I guess it have been replaced by now) all was in a very hi standard, warm and dry, (not as we experience on other hotels/B&B's around Ireland, cold and damp). We found that the traffic around the hotel was not disturbing at all, and that gave us a good night sleep as well. Location wise it could not be better, we found it to be at walking distance to everything (and we are not much for walking), and needed to say, Kilkenny as a town have a very medieval feeling in a good way (reminds a lot of our favorite town Visby in Sweden/Gotland, feel wise). Over all, one of the best experience we had in Ireland, both hotel and town wise. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fabulous location and a comfortable stay"
The location couldn't have been better, just a few minutes walk to EVERYTHING. Downstairs had a fabulous restaurant that we ate at our first night, the food, the service, the wine, fantastic. Breakfast in the morning was very good, and the coffee was delicious. We would definitely stay here again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Very nice small modern hotel in a very quaint town. The breakfast was included and was VERY good. Pleasant staff.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Fantastic Food & Great location but..."
I stayed for 1 night & have to say the location is perfect. The only gripe I'd have is that the room & decor was a little tired & could've been better. I know what they were going for & I love the clean line, black & white mirrored look but there were scuff marks on the walls, an iron scorch mark in the carpet & some black mould in the bathroom. The […] bed was extremely comforable but creaked a bit when you moved & I'm not a heavy person, so if I'd have stayed more than 1 night I'd be complaining more.....in spite of all that though the quality of the breakfast made up for it :-) I would stay again & would recommend. Excellent service and very stylish hotel in central location. Parking a bonus. First class restaurant. My room was well appointed and quite glamorous, although being at the rear had the noise from the fan from the kitchen, which did go off at 10.30. The soundproofing was not very efficient as I could hear intimate details from next door, but over quite […] quickly! Staff very friendly and helpful. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Fantastic Food - Great Location"
The food at the Zuni Hotel is really excellent. As the other reviewer mentioned, it is 5 star food without the 5 star price tag. The cafe/restaurant was buzzing with customers (especially locals) which is always a good sign. The kitchen was able to accommodate our food allergies without any fuss. We had the fish dish for lunch which was excellent value […] at €12. The courgette soup was gluten free and we were able to enjoy it with gluten free bread that the hotel provided. The cooked breakfast the next day was just as good. The only negatives were - the windows in the bedroom were more like a full length door -than a window, so we were not able to leave the window open when we were sleeping - this was inconvenient and we found the room quite warm and stuffy. Also, the bath itself was stained and looked a little grotty - the bathrooms could do with a makeover. Apart from that, we had a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back. "Top class,And Great Staff"
Dont be fooled the Zuni is a 5 star hotel without the price and with better staff. My experience here was fantastic to say the least. Me and my friend stay here at a very busy time of year new years eve and the day before. On arrival we noticed that the hotel is right bang in the middle of Kilkenny city the location really doesn't get any better then […] this. The staff, were the superior kind of staff that is really rare theses days. They really look after people and go the extra mile especially at breakfast and the reception staff are fantastic and helpful also. The rooms clean, spacious, quite and cosy not cold by any means the price is right. Would stay here again 110 percent YES i dont think id stay anywhere else in Kilkenny after staying in the Zuni. The staff in this hotel are so accommodating and friendly, the cleanliness throughout is very evident. The hotel location is brilliant being so close to all the shopping streets, we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone and would certainly have no hesitation in staying there again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Close to City"
Restaurant obviously is excellent, the staff tried very hard to be helpful and they all were very nice. We came for cultural events (not listed above: shame!) and enjoyed the city and the festival very much. We very much missed tea/coffee facilites in hotel room, which is standard in Ireland (early morning hot water wen need for diet reasons!) Room […] was too small. WC problem at start was better then, but not satisfactory until the end. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Modern, chic and great location"
Great location with an award winning restaurant made Zuni a great place to stay. It meant breakfasts werealso fabulous rather than the usual mass prepared offerings.Rooms were clean, modern and great facilities. On site parking. All around terrific value and will recommend for anyone coming to Kilkenny.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Immaculate hotel, difficult to fault, ideally located in the centre of Kilkenny. Apart from the excellent breakfast we only ate in restaurant once, they do Tapas every evening, which was pretty good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
Hi stayed at zuni.. only big complaint with this hotel was that there was very noisy generator from the kitchens. i was assured i would not be listening to this early the next morning- apparently it is not meant to be turned on till 11. but at 8.30 it was pit on. I informed te receptionist- god no apology from the manager before i left. the purpose […] of a hotel stay is a rest but not in this case. otherwise this is quite a nice place... "Friendly in a great location"

Just back from 1 night in Zuni , food was very tasty we had lunch and dinner , cleared the plates on both occasion s. Very friendly and helpful staff. Car park seemed secure. Had a great room which was very quiet (105) over the smoking area which was not noisy on our visit. Only criticism I d have is limited breakfast menu. Orange juice only juice available . Was hoping for a selection of fresh fruit plus maybe bacon and egg but it's one or the other . We had coffee to start off our breakfast which was lovely really good but had to ask for another as it wasn't offered and small cups are used. It's freshly brewed as ordered which is a great point but compared to lunch and dinner service felt it was a bit lacking at breakfast. We received 4 slices of toast halved but no choice of brown bread and only 1 small piece of butter had to ask for more butter and also marmalade and if there was a newspaper available. Lunch and dinner service was really good so the morning was a bit of a disappointment but overall we really enjoyed our stay. No iron in the room but was available from reception. No trouser press also. No facecloths in bathroom. Room was spotless and found the bed very comfortable but our door wouldn't lock.
Fabulous restaurant. Lovely staff. Really nice atmosphere. Good value for money. Food was delightful, melt in mouth delicious. I can't wait to eat here again. I could not recommend highly enough! I have already told all my friends about this place.

We recently stayed at the Zuni for one night. The room was very quiet, clean and comfortable (although it lacked face towels ie wash cloths, but many accommodations had the same issue). The location was perfect -all the most important sites were an easy walk from the hotel and they had parking available for the car at no extra charge. The breakfast was excellent as well. I highly recommend the hotel.
"A disappointing room"
08/27/14 BTravlin616 Cedar City, Utah
I began having my doubts about this hotel as soon as we tried to park and as we walked into the lobby. The entrance was a little difficult to find and the lobby is pretty low class; just a desk on a bare floor. When we got to our room I noticed there was no dead bolt. The other rooms had dead bolts, but ours had been removed for some reason which made me a little uncomfortable. The room itself was clean but very small. The single window to our room opened over the garbage/maintainence area and there was a large fan that was extrememly loud and ran most of the time. It was stifling in the room but we couldn't have the window open because of the fan noise and my fear of bugs coming in because of being over the garbage. The bathroom was fair sized and clean, but very basic. The bed was ok, but a little soft for my tastes. Breakfast the next morning was a disappointment as well. There was a printed menu and you had a choice of several breakfasts, none of which sounded appetizing to me in the least. The server was all business and not very warm or friendly. I only wanted water to drink and you would have thought I had two heads the way she reacted. According to the reviews I read, I thought this would be a great little hotel and maybe we got the worst room in the place, but I was not impressed at all.The best thing I can say for this hotel is that the location could not be better. It's in a fantastic location so that we could walk everywhere we wanted to go which was good because the roads are incredibly narrow and crowded. All in all, I was very sad we spent our only night in charming Kilkenny in that hotel.
Just back from a 2 night stay at the Zuni Hotel. We had a ball. As soon as we arrived we had 4 or 5 staff members say hello and welcome us. The room was perfect and the beds are very comfortable. Could do with a kettle and tea and coffee in the rooms though. The food in the restaurant is cracking and the service is second to none. I couldn't believe how efficient and attentive the waiters were. Free wifi which actually works. We asked the receptionist for quick directions to the reptile zoo which she gave and 5 min later she had printed off a map for us. Thank you too all the staff for a very relaxing stay and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel.

Lovely restaurant that is attached to an hotel, however feels like a separate brassiere. We ate from set menu and when joked with staff we were going to share stater and sweet, we were given (looking at other tables), larger portions. The main meals were well cooked and presented and they had a range of local craft beer and cider on drinks menu. The staff were very friendly and I would recommend a visit if in Kilkenny

What a lovely lovely meal. We booked a table for a special anniversary, The food was gold, and such good value. We were looked after by Shane,t thank you for making our evening so special. The wine list complemented the food perfectly, and the desert was heaven. We just need another 12 months to pass so we can have a return anniversary date. I suspect we will book a room next time.

The rooms shown online were exquisite. On arrival I was rather dissapointed. Just an ordinary room and not fancy and pretty like online. Also the room was like an oven and you cant open any windows! However a call to reception and we had a fan dropped up. Also the parking area was a joke. Difficult to find and Absolutely crammed. Barely got a space. Very badly laid out car park shared with other businesses near by. Accommodating location if you intend to go on a night out as your near all bars etc. Staff were okay.

Spent two nights here recently. All staff, and especially Paul, were polite and helpful. Even the night porter did his job and moved some very noisy and drunk women out of the restaurant after midnight Eat in the restaurant because the food is exceptional and a good price for the fixed menu.
"Excellent hotel with friendly staff"

Although we stayed only one night, this hotel and its staff was delightful. The hotel is very conveniently sited in the city centre very near to Kilkenny castle. We arrived early in the day, too early to check in but this was no problem for the receptionist who immediately offered to store our suitcase whilst we explored the town. On our return, check-in was very quick and simple and the suitcase had already been delivered to the room. The room itself is stylish, with white walls and mirrored dresser and side tables, plenty of storage space and an elegant and comfortable king-size bed. The only drawback was that the extractor fan of the restaurant below was sited just outside the window (probably the only room which had this situation) but as this was turned off when the restaurant closed late in the evening this didn't affect our sleep. The bathroom is well-appointed with a selection of toiletries. The summer has been very hot and in common with many Irish hotels Zuni doesn't have air-conditioning (because we don't normally need it!) but as we passed the reception we casually asked if they had an electric fan. When we returned from dinner we found one of the managers installing the fan (actually it was hilarious - he opened the door just as we put the keycard in, and we all jumped in shock!) The service throughout our stay was personal and attentive. Breakfast the next morning was in the cafe/bar at the front of the hotel, where they have a residents menu. We both asked for vegetarian versions of the breakfast offered (Eggs Benedict/French toast with bacon) and substitute ingredients were immediately suggested by the helpful waitress. I definitely recommend this hotel for visitors to Kilkenny.
