La Ferme des Mares - Saint-Germain-sur-Ay

Really enjoyed the Grand - very relaxing and pampered...just what was needed.

The Manoir is a beautifully restored and maintained property. The gardens are lovely to take a walk around or to sit and admire. We enjoyed a lovely two days and would definitely recommend it for a short stay. Its very convenient for catching a ferry from Cherbourg. One of the most beautiful and charming properties I've stayed in.

We stayed at Normandie for a week in early September, 2012. Staff were universally helpful and cheerful. Location was 10-15 walk to city center, but there was also a bus stop just feet from the front door. Breakfast - "full English" (egg, bacon, sausage, fried tomato and mushrooms, and beans) or your choice of cold cereals, Toast, coffee, juice, etc. Bar menu had a nice range of items from starters to main entrees. We asked for, and got, a room on the quiet side of the hotel. Tea and coffee maker in the room. TV with multiple channels. Wi-fi only in public areas. We did not have a car, but it looked like parking would be an issue, as there was so little space. We'd go back to this hotel on any return trip to Jersey.

This is a clean, comfortable, central hotel which offers value for the money, but I found myself feeling a bit inundated by the unending constant flow iof busloads of holiday pensioners and sixth form cricket players seeming to always be checking in and out. This is not a hotel for a young couple, unless they have their kids in tow, or for a businessperson. That being said, if you don't mind the demographic, it's a nice place.
