Beautiful cabins with a relaxing setting, we had an amazing stay and would highly recommendGenuine Expedia guest review
Good choice in spite of funny name. Good base for local walking, touring etc....high point is location in woods with animals hopping by within a few feet whilst having a meal on the outside decking.Genuine Expedia guest review
The cabins were of a very high standard. Good location a little far out from most amenities but great for watching the wildlife, is kangaroos.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful cabin nestled in amongst the bushes."
My partner and I stayed at the Treehouse cabin over the long weekend and we loved it! We are definitely planning to stay there in the future. We never met the owners but I spoke to one of them over the phone informing them that we will be late and might not get in until midnight. This was no problem as she said she would leave the lights on (so we can […] see where we were going) and gave us our access code. I already knew we were going to have an excellent stay because of this hospitality. When we finally got into our cabin we couldn't have been more impressed. The place was spacious and neat with lots of natural light. The bathroom itself had window ceilings. The cabins aren't far from the town centre and during the day we saw kangaroos, echidnas and beautiful birds in and around the cabin grounds. It was just beautiful. It's tucked away from plain sight and I think that works to their advantage. Beautiful, beautiful cabin!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Kangaroos in the garden!"
The DULC lodge was so wonderful it is hard to describe! Set amongst beautiful bushland, we not only encountered kangaroos close up, but all sorts of lovely wild birds and bats. The accommodation was lovely, thoughtfully set out so we could see the trees and the animals from all parts of the cabin. The furniture and bed were all really comfortable and […] high quality, and the place was beautifully clean. The friendly owners made us feel very welcome to this very special place. "Beautiful bush retreat"
My fiance and I stayed over the weekend and really enjoyed our time at the DULC cabins, despite the wild weather! It was nice to come back from our hike to warm up in our cozy cabin by the fire.Genuine Expedia guest review
"un logement original et confortable"

"It was just missing the little things that make a luxury getaway."
Beautiful location and the cabin was lovely. The floor to ceiling windows that allow you to feel like you're in a treehouse are beautiful. Great King sized bed and a wonderful peaceful setting. However, it just misses some simple things that would make it worth the money, or be classed as a luxury retreat. The 'hamper' of local produce was merely a little bag of store bought coffee, twinings tea bags and a small uht milk. There were no tissues in the cabin, and only 1 spare towel provided for a 3 day stay. The message left regarding a maintenance issue was never responded to, resulting in us not being able to shut the toilet door. The freezer was iced up, making it difficult to fit anything in it or set the ice cubes. Although the location is wonderful, addressing these small things would make it worth returning for.
"Living amongst the trees"

The DULC cabins are located a 5 minute drive from the center of Halls Gap in the Grampians. The cabins are set in bushland, and though they do not have direct views of the surrounding mountains it feels like you are completely alone in a forest. The cabins have large windows to take in the surrounds and are modern and well designed and decorated. At least once each day of the 3 we stayed we had wallabies just outside our windows - on one occasion we fed them (which perhaps we shouldn't have) but they would just hang around, obviously as curious about us as we were of them. The cabins have everything you need, have gas and reverse cycle heating, and the shower even has a full length window so you feel like you're outside. All in all, great country accommodation.
"Peace and wildlife"

We spent a few days here after travelling the Great Ocean Road. Excellent spot to unwind. Wallabies, kangaroos and echidna wandering around outside the well equipped cabin. Road trips into the Grampian National Park. You need to think about self catering as local restaurants limited - but gas barbecue supplied. No Worries !
"A quiet treehouse retreat"

The tree-house cabin is well-equipped with cookery utensils, coffee-machine and a wide- array of DVDs for us. It is truly a nice retreat for couples, families who want to get away from the daily bustle of life. Located at the heart of Grampians – Hall Gaps, where most of the hikes/walks are easily accessible to us within few minutes of drive away. We are able to get our groceries within a 20-minutes’ drive to Stawell, a relatively huge town. Truly an enjoyable stay for us!
"Excellent, as always"
There's nothing to complain about here. The cabins are spotless, well appointed, quiet and comfortable. I'm yet to meet the owners after several visits, but the key is in the door, the heater is on and waiting and you feel like you've left the world behind when you step inside. Highly recommended.
"We treated ourselves"

We treated ourselves whilst doing a Great Ocean Road and Grampians road trip. Part of our honeymoon in April 2014. We loved it and the wildlife of the area was great. We were left alone and the rooms were awesome. Coffee maker was the saviour!
"Great for a real escape"

I lived my stay at DULC. I am an introvert and love nothing more than being left alone, in peace, amongst nature, and in comfort.DULC provides all of these things. We didn't even have to check in, or out. Key waiting for us and cabin was ready upon arrival. Gorgeous cabins. Really private, comfortable bed, lovely bathroom, molton brown amenities, coffee, blankets, fire. Perfect. Sitting on the patio or by picture windows you can see wallabies right by your cabin. No phone or internet reception in our cabin but i love about it but it really is the place to escape and relax. Tips; Bring non stick pans if want to cook Have lunch at royal mail about an hr scenic drive away

We didn't know what to expect with a cabin in the woods but our 2 bed-roomed cabin was wonderful. So quiet, secluded. As others have said 'understated on the outside' but luxurious inside. Beautifully furnished and clean. With big picture windows most of the way round (including the bathroom) we didn't miss any of the wildlife outside and it felt as if we were truly in the woods. Of course, there were blinds to pull down if needed. Wallabies bounding around outside the cabin, kookaburras in the trees and dropping in for dinner and breakfast at the table on the deck. Really wish we could have stayed longer, one night was not enough. The Grampian region is beautiful and Halls Gap (3 km away). Can certainly recommend.
"Amazing! **Younger generations must read!"
03/25/14 tms037 Melbourne, Australia
The cabins were absolutely amazing! Full kitchen, coffee maker, gas fire, comfy nooks to laze in, big glass windows looking out upon the country side, comfy beds, nice shower, nice spa bath. The owners even provide a selection of books, CD's and DVD's to enjoy. Very clean, very cozy. Perfect for a couple, very romantic! Surrounded by wildlife, even got the chance to feed the local wallabies and kookaburras (we had a zoo keeper with us so we knew what we were feeding them was okay, do not recommend feeding them just anything!). Perfect little hide away to experience Australia's wildlife. The only minor minor issue was that the DVD player didn't always work. It seemed to only like brand new DVD's and skipped a lot. Very minor issue but something to consider if you are bringing kids along/like being lazy like me! Also important to note that the WiFi didn't reach our room. Also not a big deal, but can be an issue for those that rely on it due to work, being a tourist etc. These issues are very 'first world problems' but could make a difference to some people. **Younger generations! I have this separate as it has nothing to do with the cabins! Mobile phone signal can be difficult to obtain around Halls Gap. I am with Telstra and I managed to get away with one bar at most. Once again, not a huge deal for me. My partner however is from England and without reception or WiFi had no way to contact home. I really do apologise for the 'first world problems', I just felt that some people may find this useful :)
"Perfect in every way"

Wow. I had read a lot of great reviews, so had started to worry that my expectations had been raised a little too high, but these beautiful cabins did not disappoint. Situated just outside of the main town, the cabins are completely secluded and - although fairly unimposing from the outside (deliberately) - they are the height of luxury inside. Every bit as good as the photos, if not better, our cabin (2) felt like a top city suite, but in the middle of nowhere. The perfect combination of designer elegance, with rustic charm. It's the little touches that really made the difference: Espresso machine and fresh coffee, washing up liquid provided, DVDs and books, super soft sheets and high end toiletries. The kitchen was brilliantly equipped - anyone who has commented saying that "there are only two rings to cook on " must have been planning on cooking a five course meal for 10.... I really fail to see how two rings is not ample for two people? We cooked all our meals for two days in the cabin and never had an issue. There are tea towels and cloths... The only thing you might need to bring is some oil for cooking (we just picked up a pack of butter). The cabin itself was really spacious and beautifully finished. Our bed was huge, the fire was a great touch (especially as it was a bit nippy one evening) and the open plan feel made it feel huge but cosy at the same time. It was lovely to go the the nearby winery, pick up a lovely bottle and drink it by the fire whilst watching a film later that evening. If I had to nit pick there are two tiny things to mention, just to give a balanced review: 1) The wifi didn't work at all in the cabin. BUT it was fine by reception and the owners were very accommodating, allowing me to sit and deal with a few work emails from the comfort of reception. Tbh, it's so lovely in halls gap and at DULC that you're best off trying to keep away from wifi anyway. 2) We didn't luck out on the animals by the cabin. Everyone else's reviews talk about the plethora of animals right outside their windows but, save for one emu (which was pretty cool) we didn't get any wildlife up close. And my husband is an ecologist and sees everything, so it wasn't just us missing critters in front of our eyes. But again, that's just our bad luck and the fact we had a turn in the weather. Plus we saw plenty of amazing wildlife out on the trails during the day. I honestly cannot recommend this place enough and am only sorry that we weren't staying longer. We would definitely come back to DULC in a heartbeat if we are back in Australia again.
