The location of the cabin was wonderful, a sense of privacy and being close to nature. The room was comfortable but there was no WiFi in the cabin (this was accessed by sitting on a plastic seat on sandy soil outside the closed reception), there was no oven, washing machine nor dishwasher and the raised bed area looked good but was a serious trip h […] azard. "Our private sanctuary..."
We were greeted to a spotlessly clean home in the middle of the bush. Very welcoming despite being so secluded. It was quiet, and very private. Kitchen is equip for basic cooking, and BBQ was a treat at your own back verandah. Groceries can be bought at the local town store, or at Stawell Woolworths (well stocked) about 25mins drive away. No Internet […] or Phone signal on the mobile, but it didn't matter, the serenity of the environment took all your worries away. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A very pleasant stay"
The size of the cabins are good, modern and different, set in the middle of nowhere adding to the pleasure. Provisions in Halls Gap are expensive and limited so take all you need with you. A most memorable and enjoyable stay.Genuine Expedia guest review
Beautiful cabins with a relaxing setting, we had an amazing stay and would highly recommendGenuine Expedia guest review
Good choice in spite of funny name. Good base for local walking, touring etc....high point is location in woods with animals hopping by within a few feet whilst having a meal on the outside decking.Genuine Expedia guest review
The cabins were of a very high standard. Good location a little far out from most amenities but great for watching the wildlife, is kangaroos.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Wonderful cabin nestled in amongst the bushes."
My partner and I stayed at the Treehouse cabin over the long weekend and we loved it! We are definitely planning to stay there in the future. We never met the owners but I spoke to one of them over the phone informing them that we will be late and might not get in until midnight. This was no problem as she said she would leave the lights on (so we can […] see where we were going) and gave us our access code. I already knew we were going to have an excellent stay because of this hospitality. When we finally got into our cabin we couldn't have been more impressed. The place was spacious and neat with lots of natural light. The bathroom itself had window ceilings. The cabins aren't far from the town centre and during the day we saw kangaroos, echidnas and beautiful birds in and around the cabin grounds. It was just beautiful. It's tucked away from plain sight and I think that works to their advantage. Beautiful, beautiful cabin!!! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Kangaroos in the garden!"
The DULC lodge was so wonderful it is hard to describe! Set amongst beautiful bushland, we not only encountered kangaroos close up, but all sorts of lovely wild birds and bats. The accommodation was lovely, thoughtfully set out so we could see the trees and the animals from all parts of the cabin. The furniture and bed were all really comfortable and […] high quality, and the place was beautifully clean. The friendly owners made us feel very welcome to this very special place. "Beautiful bush retreat"
My fiance and I stayed over the weekend and really enjoyed our time at the DULC cabins, despite the wild weather! It was nice to come back from our hike to warm up in our cozy cabin by the fire.Genuine Expedia guest review
"un logement original et confortable"
La cabine Tree House est vraiment très originale, confortable, très bien équipée.Un environnement apaisant et un cadre romantique qui donne envie de prolonger le séjour. les propriétaires sont extrêmement gentils et attentionnés afin de faciliter vos excursions dans les environs.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Exactly as advertised and more!"
The DULC cabins were exactly as advertised and exceeded our expectations in terms of the comfort. All the negative reviews are probably from travelers that were expecting it to be a hotel in the bush. Simon is a great host and takes great care to ensure everything is to plan. If you are planning a holiday in Hall's gap area, this is a fitting one as it is set completely in the bush, yet not far away from town center.

When we arrived there was no one in reception and we waited an hour and made 4 phone calls before anyone turned up. He was very apologetic but had mislaid our booking, wasn't expecting us and therefore had no cabin ready for us. When we did get a cabin it was lovely. Well equipped and spacious and so quietly situated. The only wildlife we saw round the cabin was a kangaroo but the stars were stunning.

Stayed here with my husband for 3 nights last year... we had the best time! Such gorgeous cabins in a lovely, quiet spot. Our cabin was modern and clean and the gas fire was awesome to sit and read a book by on a cold autumn evening... so cosy. Would recommend!
"Luxury Cabins in the Woods"

Stayed in one of the 2 tier cabins for 2 nights in March and just loved it. Cabin was modernly furnished with huge picture windows onto the woods. Comfy double bed on mezzanine floor also had huge windows so you could lie in bed and watch the birds in the trees. Everything was provided including a TV both upstairs and downstairs, DVD player, cooking facilities, and barbecue on small secluded deck. Bathroom had a spa bath ( a little difficult to climb into) and shower and a picture window onto the bush. Free WiFi was available but it worked best outside the Reception, but heck, who needs WiFi in the woods!! Plenty of free WiFi connections in Halls Gap if needed. A small container of cooking oil would have been useful as we forgot this. Car essential as a mile or two out of town. Saw kangaroos, red parrots, cockatoos and many other birds. We didn't cook much and breakfasted in town. If you are staying for a while, it is worth purchasing your groceries before getting to Halls Gap as the supermarket there is poor and expensive; several good eateries in town. Overall we loved it and would recommend it especially to visitors to Australia wanting a bush experience.
"Good, well worth a stay."

Our cabin was first class with excellent facilities. Our hostess was very welcoming and helpful. My wife was very pleased to see a kangaroo sitting on the edge of the decking. Halls Gap itself is excellent with some good walking and mountain sights. In six weeks travelling it remains one of our favourite places. If you like a pub drink, we do, it's 30 minutes walk to the nearest bar. That's said, it's pleasant walk. We'd'do happily stay at these cabins again.
"Perfect. Don't take any notice of the poor reviews!"

Having just spent 30 days in OZ & spent 20 nights in different hotels. Both myself & the wife nearly didn't go to this location due to the poor reviews listed on this site. We were most pleasantly suprised upon arrival ,everything was as described. We were in one of the two tier cabins with mezzanine bedroom, the facilities were prefect accommodation was faultless. The near town of Hall Gap can provide you with anything that you require. WIFI is free but not accessible to all cabins, you need to go to the reception area.
"Lovely situation, Cabins comfortable but a bit run down"
03/16/15 Indiophile Buckinghamshire
We stayed for 3 days in January. We had no difficulty finding the plac e. Which is a couple of minutes drive outside Halls Gap > Like others we enjoyed the natural setting and the visits from an emu and kangaroos. But we thought like another reviewer that It all felt a little run down..It would appear from he information booklet that the property is on the market and this shows that profit is a very high proportion of turnover Having been pre-warned that the supermarket in Halls Gap is small and expensive we visited a supermarket on the way from Melbourne and arrived with a load of food which we had some difficulty storing in the small fridge especially as most of the door shelves were missing. Apart from the large gas BBQ The cooking facilities are minimal - just 2 rings and a couple of pans. We also noted dangerous step down from the bed area and the difficulty climbing into the Bath/shower. Despite these reservations we enjoyed our stay. We did not see the owners at all despite going to look for them one day when the "reception should have been open I think the property could do with a little more investment.
"Comfortable cabin in the forest"
03/14/15 Mark O Kingston upon Thames
This is a set of cabins near the Grampian mountains surrounded by forest. We saw an Emu right outside the window and were visited by a group of Kookaburras while we BBQ'd some steak. It is family run by helpful people. Unsurprisingly there is no 3G coverage and wi-fi really only works near the reception building. It's self catering so you need to bring food with you for dinner (you can order a breakfast pack). There is a BBQ, hob and a microwave but no oven for keeping food warm.

Airy and spacious accommodation with added bonus of seeing the friendly kangaroo and doozy kookaburra outside the front. Very friendly owners who were very helpful. Lovely gas fire to warm the place up and adequate bbq. Dangerous step at the end of the bed caused me to trip and damage my shoulder.
"Spacious and comfortable"
03/05/15 HSeeingtheworld Welwyn Garden City, United Kingdom
we stayed 2 nights in one of the two treetop cabins. The cabin offers spacious accommodation on two floors. Kitchen, bathroom and sitting room downstairs and bedroom upstairs. All very comfortable, particularly the bed. As other vertically challenged guests have mentioned, getting in and out of the shower can be awkward. (Simon I suggest a grab handle on the left wall may help) We were disappointed that we did not see any wildlife other than birds on site, but when we found a stray bat in the lounge, Simon, bless him, came over, caught and released it without harming it at all. Thank you Simon. If, like us, you are coming to the Grampians to see some Kangaroos, you will find them around 6pm onwards at the oval ground or the almost adjacent caravan park ( or, indeed, anywhere along the roadside) There are some good lookouts in the area together with pleasant walks requiring varying standards of fitness. We found the information centre really helpful in advising us which to take on Food nearby tends to be pizza/ hamburgers at lunchtime and other restaurants open after 6pm other than weekends. There is a gas bar b q at the property, but we did not try it, so cannot comment on whether or not it works We were surprised ( maybe we shouldn't have been) that towels were not changed or beds made after day 1. This was not a problem, but perhaps should be made clear when the property is booked (constructive criticism, Simon) We certainly saw nothing else in the area that we would have preferred and would probably return on a future visit
