I won't recommend this resort at all, you will be ending losing a lot of money. I was ther May 16 -26 2013. First at all you will be almost forced to go throught a two hour TIME SHARE buy, because at the end the tour I say NO to buy this stuped TIME SHARE, they got mad at me, and they say if I don't buy I won't be able to rent this hotel again any more. […] Internet never work in that room. I complained avery day about internet service, the only thing I heard was they are fixing it. I spend a lot money in this resort just to have bad time. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESORT FOR ANY RESON! Very nice hotel. If you stay on the 4th floor or higher you'll get a beatiful view of the ocean. This location is very close to the Isla Mujeres which is nice if you want to take the ferry to the island. The downside of this hotel is the beach. If you like hanging out on the beach, you will need to go elsewhere. There's a smell on the beach and is full […] of seaweed. I enjoyed the hotel and the pools there, but I had to go to the North beach at the Isla Mujeres to have a nice beach to hang out on. I did enjoy the relaxed atmosphere and the food was okay. Davino's and Hiroshi's were very good, but I wasn't impressed with Zama's. Overall, this was a good stay and the price was very good. I would stay here again if I got a good deal. Read more

The place ia beautiful no dout rigth on the beach. Staff was friendly , rooms were clean , food was good overoll the place is good. We were there for four days and the first two days we had no water it was terrible couldn't go to the restroom for two days . The place it self was great but I will never go back there , I'm not taken any chances .

We had a very good experience overall. The food was hit or miss but for the most part very good. They fry most of their food so make sure to ask if the fish is fried or not. "Villa del Palmar" !!! My wife and I stayed from February 28th through March 7th 2013. We are a couple, in our late 40's. From the time we arrived at VDP, we were very impressed with it's overall luxury. It appears that no expense was spared in constructing this elaborate resort. From the lobby, to the courtyards, the pools, the restaurants, and especially […] the rooms, we were astounded of the quality and the elegance. We stayed last year at The Beloved #and would have gone there again#, but the prices there went up so much it, made no sense to us not to try the VDP...Boy are we glad we did !!! The resort is immaculate. It is relatively new,and the rooms are extremely well appointed. We chose the "one bedroom suite-ocean view", with all inclusive package, and would highly recommend it. The restaurants/bars were fabulous !!! I didn't think it was possible for an all inclusive to provide such a wide variety of gourmet meals. We especially liked "Davino", (their Greek/Italian restaurant). Zama had a great variety of Mexican cuisine, and the little snack bar by the ocean had unbelievable shrimp burritos/fajitas/tacos and salads !!! We are planning on returning next year... My daughter, Victoria, booked this trip for us on her credit card. When we checked it everything was paid for. However the hotel demanded a credit card for a $5000 deposit. That is ridiculous and we did not even have her credit card on us. We think that should not be required and someone should take note of that. Thanks.

I went with my friend for a relaxing getaway several weeks ago. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was beautiful. The check in/out process isn't very efficient. We were checked in And then told to come back in an hour for our key. When we returned for the key, we had to wait in line for another half hour. The same thing occurred with checkout. […] The hotel staff should consider having one person that is there to hand out keys for those who have already checked in. We choose this hotel specially for its location. Its 30 minutes from the hotel area which makes it a quiet neighbourhood. The hotel was great. Lots of pools and jacuzi's to choose from. Great bar. Food was good. And there is a free shuttle that takes you to 4 different shopping malls. I would deffinetly recommend this hotel.

The resort is very big, we felt like it was a little overcrowded. Long waits for resturants all day. Pool area was packed. Some days very difficult to find a chair. Service def. needs to be worked on, we never got the welcome drink everyone talked about?? Also they try to push all-inclusive and the timeshare deal. Resort - The resort is brand new, so everything is really nice. The 4 pools were all great, not heated but still comfortable. Three hot tubs are great for the cooler evenings. The view from the hotel was amazing. Unfortunately, there was quite a bit of seaweed washing up on the beach, making it difficult to go in the water. Despite the fact that we were doing all-inclusive, we were still required to sign a check for every transaction. This really slows the service down because the servers are constantly tied up dealing with checks and not able to focus as much on the customers. Also, it takes quite a while to get your check. It's a nice looking place, my ocean view suite was spacious & gorgeous, my included breakfasts were excellent. However, watch your bill carefully. They charged me for a breakfast although that was included free in my stay. They tried to charge me for Internet access and made me show them my Expedia page to prove it was included free. The Internet service […] was horrible anyway. It almost never worked and when it did, it was a snail's pace. I knocked over a lamp & broke the ceramic base so they charged me $150 for it even though it looked like your typical $40 lamp found at Target. They literally won't let you leave the hotel without a paper saying you have settled your bill & have their permission to leave. The "concierge" desk is more of a sales desk that tries to rope you into a seminar by offering you discounts. They clearly get kickbacks because a store in the mall wanted to know who at the desk referred us & asked us to describe them when we didn't know their name. The front desk will commonly have 2 people at it with a line a mile long but the "concierge" desks have 5-6 people at them trying to sell stuff. The best cabanas at the beach are only for "Elite" members only & it was sometimes tricky to find free chairs on the sand ona busy day. The hotel is isolated from the rest of Cancun and requires a $35 cab ride one way to go to the hotel zone. We had a great experience at the Villa del Palmar. We traveled with another couple, so that is the basis for our review. The property is very new, well designed and well maintained. We each rented a one bedroom suite with ocean view. The room was nicely sized, with full kitchen, and spacious living quarters. We particularly appreciated the washer-dryer […] arrangement. Each of the 4 restaurants had great and diverse menus, so there was always something great to eat. Better meals than many stand alone restaurants, which was surprising, but very nice. The property is not in close proximity to any other accommodations so it seems designed for those who stay on premises. We separately arranged our own fishing and snorkeling adventures, and did not participate in many of the on-site activities. This was our first all inclusive stay, as we usually like to explore near by shops and restaurants, but this property didn't lend itself to exploration off premises, and that is the only reason for the 4 rating rather than a 5. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay this winter. Jairo at bite bar was super friendly and the staff was superb! Several pools and at least 3 hot tubs, all gorgeous. The spa was amazing! Overall the grounds and hotel rooms were very nice, however the constant signing of checks and having to ask what is and is not included in the all-inclusive package is irritating. The hotel has very beautiful view of the sea and it is very convenient to take a trip to the island mujeres. However, the hotel is too far away from downtown and hotel zone. Although it offers free shuttles to hotel zone and some shopping center but the capacity and schedule is limited. It takes around 200 ~300 pesos to take taxi to down town or hotel […] zone. 270 pesos to airport per person! The quality of rooms and food is very good. There is no need to make restaurant reservations and they have 4 pretty good restaurant (Japanese, Mexican, Italian, and Steak house). Pools and jacuzzis are plentiful and quite impressive. A couple things I didn't like: relatively small area that belongs to this resort with no gardens or artificial jungles; […] the beach is OK, but not great; surrounding beaches are undeveloped and mostly not suitable for even walking or running; there is little activity on the beach; there is no club house, so all entertainment and shows (which are less frequent than in other places I've been) are in the open space. So if you want a lazy stay in a great room, around a pool, and good food - go for it. But if you are also looking for a nice beach, shows, and water activities, look for other places, e.g. the nearby Excellency hotel. Read more

This is a new hotel, on a beautiful beach with all the features you could ever ask for. No need to leave because everything is there. The Spa is great, multiple pools, multiple restaurants. Our room was one of the larger ones, and was great, too. Room service was excellent. The only reason this hotel got 4 overall was because they are still working […] out some of the administrative aspects, it seems. We booked through Expedia, with a breakfast buffet included (you could also have an all-inclusive package). This was not automatic based on our room, but we had to talk with the front desk. Checking in and checking out took longer than it should have. I heard other people working with the front desk to resolve their problems, which added to the queue. We also had to ask about Internet service (100 pesos a day), but were told it wasn't working well so they wouldn't give us the code. Later when we asked that same day, I got the code and the Internet service was Ok (no charge). I am sure they will work out these problems shortly. This was as of Christmas, 2012. It's a little out of the way from some other hotels, but if you like luxury and don't mind waiting in line, it is great. Read more

Beautiful hotel and grounds built on a trash landfill it seemed; water stunk like sewer out of our shower, and turned on the water to brush teeth, and the water come out copper colored. One side has ocean view, the other side (our side) looked at broken down buildings with graffiti and tires. FAR, and I mean FAR, from any thing other than the ferry […] to go to the Isle Mujeres. No bus stop near the hotel, so you have to take a taxi ($15-30 USD) to downtown Cancun, and pop on the bus there. And the bus system is the way to go; it's cheap and they run often with frequent stops. Will never come to this hotel again. Oh, ya, they also don't accept cash !! Credit card only. Read more

If you're looking to go and sit by the pool your entire vacation, go for it, but you won't get good service. There is zero nightlife...no promotion of anything fun going on at all. After 6:00 the place looked like a ghost town. It was all inclusive (depending on the room you get), but the staff made you feel like they didn't want to serve you drinks […] or anything else. You could tell they were trying to save money. Most of the service we got was very slow and unpleasant. The concierges tried to push you into buying the time share the entire trip. They were very rude and pushy and put a damper on our whole vacation. We didn't feel appreciated for choosing this resort or respected as guests. The good things about the resort...the spa experience was wonderful and the resort is beautiful. However, we would not recommend this to any of our friends and will not be returning. We are so disappointed. Our one vacation a year was a total flop. Read more

Also, the staff didn't all seem to be well-informed about the accomodations as they recommended restaurants that weren't open and told us to go to places that were closed to eat. Upon arrival they made us wait to check in. Check in time is at 3pm and we didn't get the room until 3:30pm even though they promised us it would be before 3. Then we walk into the room and the sheets are dirty, like very stained. So we ask for it to be changed and it was still drity. It was just unbelievable. Then they say they have kayaking but they […] have 1 kayak for the entire resort and it's always booked. There are flies while dining even the indoor dining and service is horrible. We heard them speak in Spanish and say that we are annoying, so they should know that Spanish is a langauge that a lot of people understand so they should really think beofre they start talking badly about their guests. Anyhow, I do not recommend this hotel is it also far away from everything and the air smells bad like sewer water. Save yourself the bad experience and stay on the strip. It's much nicer there!! The hotel is very nice, great staff. We got a free upgrade and they sent champagne and strawberries to our room because it was our 1st wedding anniversary. The rooms are upkept very well. The pool areas and common areas are beautiful. The location is a bit far away from the hotel zone, which is what we wanted. But if your looking for the busy nightlife […] this is not the place for you. It was nice though that they had a shuttle service if you needed to go into the town for anything. The only drawback is the timeshare sales presentation. They told us we could get a good discount on excursions (which we did) but it took almost 3 hours of our time when we were told 90 minutes that included breakfast... An hour of that was just me telling them no. I would avoid this at all costs if you can. I would definitley stay here again though, we had a great experience. The check in is the hardest, a little slow and then the "modern holiday experiance" reps sit you down and explain the layout of tbe gounds etc! Then try and bribe you on a tour of the grounds for 5 hours for a discount card if you attend! We said no, and they couldn't beleave that we turned this down. Towels are a problem, they keep running out and you have a card that limits you! So you have to take your towel back before you recieve another! Snacks during the day are good and Restaurants are good for evening, buffet a little hit and miss very slow service for drinks at the evening Buffet! Defiantly a 4* resort with 3 1/2 * food, we always found something we liked to eat! Entertainment a little like Spain 30 years ago! lol I payed for Wifi, worked just ok for $10 usd a day! Read more
