We arrived early & sat outside the boat owners house, overlooking the boat - there was no reply at the door.
We waited & waited - a man looked at us, entered the boat & left with another chap in a hurry without speaking with us.....
Book-in time came & went and nobody else arrived. So, some time after the agreed arrival time, we left, with our suitcases, to trapse around Amsterdam looking for alternative accomidation.
The boat itself looked in slightly shabby condition & the area it was in felt poor; moored on a very unnattractive part of the canal in front of what looked like high-rise social housing blocks.
The location itself is quite a way from the main parts of Amsterdam; the alledged closeness to Museumplein is misleading.
Dont be beguiled by the photos - that isnt where the boat is moored.
So in summary, an awful waste of our precious holiday time, but given the location & the look of the place, probably for the good.

This was an all-round bad experience.....
Firstly, we got there nice & early & waited outside the owner's house (as they weren't in), looking directly at the boat.
The immediate impression wasn't good - the boat is not moored on a leafy canal side as shown in the pictures, it was in a canal in what looked a run down area overlooking blocks of relatively modern flats..... Nothing romantic, classic or beautiful in sight.
Roadworks near to the boat did not bode well, but if you read on, you'll see that was an irrelevance....
Also, the area is some way out of the main part of Amsertdam - to say that it's even within walking distance of the MuseumPlein is stretching things, & then some.
And then we waited. And waited.
We knocked on the door but had no reply..... and then a man drove up, briefly acknowledged us, jumped on the boat, picked up another man from the boat, then drove off quickly.
He didn't return. Some time after book-in time, we left, dragging our suitcases behind us.
