Very good hotel with friendly staff. Nice relaxing walk from hotel to town over Milennium Bridge. Didn't try food, but bar is nicely laid out and relaxing.

Lovely place. Will try to book again. we had guests for breakfast and paid a very reasonable price and let them know and they were wonderful. we had to eat at 5:30 am on check out day and we told them we wouldnt be there for breakfast and they insisted on leaving us milk in our refrig so we could at least have cereal and coffee before we left. Very thoughtful and accomodating. the bed was comfortable.

I was initially very impressed with the place. It's new looking, well located for the Universities of Northumbria and Newcastle, rooms are ok sized for Europe and are well set out. The problem is WIFI. The free WIFI on the third floor worked intermittenylt on the first day of my stay and not on the other two days. My (very new) PC picked it up beautifully on the 2nd floor (hall) and in the lobby. All they could do was "reset it", by which I suppose they meant cycle the power. It was a great inconvenience.

We had reasonable food and service but it is not a luxurious place to stay, There are no free... toiletries and the food is fine but not exceptional. Lumley Castle is a good hotel in a fabulous building. We had reasonable food and service but it is not a luxurious place to stay, There are no free toiletries and the food is fine but not exceptional. Would definitely stay again but there are better value hotels in the area.

When we rounded the corner and Lumley Castle came into view, I was absolutely delighted. My highlight for our holiday was to have a real Castle stay, and this was exactly as it was depicted on your website. Just when I was looking online it wasn't really clear which rooms were what, so I emailed you to find out where the rooms were that would give me […] the four posted bed and walk through wardrobe to the bathroom. So I was able to booked the exact room I was looking for, and we were not disappointed, it was fabulous, even down to the creaking floor boards. It will live in our memories forever. Thank you. Residing at Lumley Castle was like travelling back to Medieval England - the grounds were immaculate with an adjacent golf course filled with pheasants and the castle was well kept and filled with character(s). The staff was dressed in medieval garb which was a pleasant surprise and the front of house staff were quite professional. These were the positive […] aspects of seemingly travelling back to medieval times. Lumley Castle unfortunately also suffered from a few pitfalls of the Dark Ages. Unfriendly restaurant personnel was apparent and made for a less than delightful evening. And poor bathroom design was also a serious issue, as the galley ensuite was definitely an architectural afterthought to the bedroom we booked - we had to walk through a cramped shower to use the draw-chain toilet! All in all, it was a good experience; next time, we'll be sure to eat out and book an alternative room with more modern conveniences! Read more

This building is a unique experience to stay in. It feels like stepping back in time but with all the modern conveniences and great staff looking after you. Freshly cooked breakfast was excelent and such a welcome change to the usual buffet offered by other hotels. Next time will be booking the medieval banquet!

A warm welcome after a very long drive, fantastic room, great staff very helpful. They must put something better than sandwitches on the bar menu at night. Breakfast was spot on.
