Stones Lodge under Mt. Stratton - Bondville

Had a great time! They upgraded us to a larger room to put us next to our friends. The room was Okay - comfy bed and they had a real causal laid back attitude in Vermont - if you can roll with the punches your GOLD! We had no heat in our room but a roaring fire place and they gave us a ton of wood and it all worked out fine. I enjoyed our stay...

It was a converted house with 13 rooms. And a side entrance with Space for ski's in the middle of the bldg. Wifi throughout. Best part was proximity to Stratton mountain entrance, and to Manchester VT a local Big town. Check-out the local glassblowing shop Manchester Glass (awesome experience!).

Really nice people doing their best with an older property. They just need to find some money to update the rooms. A fireplace in the bedrooms is great and something that I doubt could be replicated in a lodge built these days.

Staff were all nice and helpful, but the room and service were pretty disappointing. Like many reviews already mention, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls in the bathroom and the molding around the bathroom door was broken and pulled off the wall. Not a good sign. There were also random beer cans left outside and by the entry way that stayed there […] our entire visit. Housekeeping did not come during our two night stay unfortunately. I don't know why. Also, don't plan on eating what's described in their breakfast list. We had the choice of white bread (homemade and very good), english muffin, and muffins (for one day). Not awful, but they definitely need to step up their service and upkeep before we would stay again or recommend it. Read more

The rooms are amazing here. I love that they allow dogs, the food at the Fat Spy Tavern was great.... I went with a friend and 3 dogs and there was plenty of space in the room and then some. The area is beautiful and did a wonderful hike up Mt. Stratton as recommended by one of the employees. The staff was amazing, incredibly nice and helpful. Our room was fine, although we were told we had a room with a king bed, but found a very comfortable queen bed instead. The walls are not insulated and the couple in the next room were having an arguement and we heard every detain for over an hour! Overall though we had fun and a nice meal in the Fat Spy restaurant and lounge.

We arrived at about noon, and not a soul was anywhere around, though the place was clearly open. Went out for lunch. When we came back a very friendly guy told us the room wouldn't be ready til 4:00pm. We were dismayed--the event we were there to attend started at 4:30. He promised to speed it up a bit. We waited in the lobby. Shortly thereafter he […] told us he'd upgraded us to a family suite, which was ready immediately. We seemed to be the only people staying here--it is obviously a ski lodge. When we arrived to check in there wasn't anyone at the front desk. We rang the bell and nobody responded. After hanging around for about 15 minutes, we found someone in the kitchen and he went to get someone to help us. About 15 minutes after that, the young man from the kitchen came out to see if we had been helped yet and we hadn't. Finally, someone […] came to check us in. At that point, we put an order in for our dinner figuring that would give them plenty of time to prepare our meal as we got ourselves settled in. When we got into our room, the windows were open, but there were no screens. The bathroom had two bath-towels, one hand-towel, and one wash cloth. This was a room with two double beds (clearly not enough towels for this type of room). We arrived at 7:30pm and finally got checked in around 8pm... as you may recall, this is when we ordered our dinner. It took over an hour to get our meal and when it did arrive, only half our meal was delivered. We were told they ran out of burgers. We finally got our other burger at 10:30pm after walking down to the restaurant to check on it and also calling the restaurant to check on it. We were told they had to send someone to the grocery store because they ran out of burgers (yet there were people in the restaurant that came in AFTER we placed our order that were eating burgers). Also, the room had no cups or glasses and none of the vending machines worked. Disgraceful service... I will NEVER stay here again! Read more

stayed for 4 nights and was very well welcomed by everyone. the room was spacious, standard but amazing bed linens on a comfy bed. the staff was great helping me with an issue I had before arriving with a stolen bag, allowing me to call without charging to the UK and back home in Portugal. enjoyed everyone s kindness and genuine sympathy, closeness […] to Stratton, sitting outside under the porch catching some sun and the fat spy tavern with good food and amazing staff. location is great as close to Stratton and Manchester but not in the middle of a city providing a great escape to the city life.
