Very nice place with a refined air. Traditional hotel with traditional interiors, appropriate for Scotland. Definitely upscale, particularly in bar and restaurant area. Not a place to slop around in jeans, especially if dining.

Columba is good value, you could find some faults but they are minor. In all it's good value for money and in a great, picturesque spot near town, on the river side.

Close to all as hotel is in the heart of the shopping district. Steps from all major transportation-buses and trains. Book trains a day or so before travel and you save a bundle. Buses go to airport.

Situated in Carrbridge, Fairwinds Hotel is in a national park and area attractions include Loch Garten Osprey Centre. Additional regional attractions include Craigellachie National Nature Reserve and Speyside Wildlife.

Just because it says "hotel" it does mean it. This should be classified as a Guest House or B&B. I do not consider four bedrooms above the residence to... be a "hotel". Located in a very small village and not easily found. Owned and operated by two charming women. Service is as personal as if it should be when you are staying in a someone's home. Breakfast was excellent and individually prepared to order. Dinner was offered only by advance request. Fortunately, there was a real "hotel" withing walking distance with a pub and a full restaraunt what served excellent fish and game. The room was comfortable with a modern en-suite bath, but the walls were very thin and I felt I had to tiptoe so as not disturb the other guests or the owners. Very rarely, in life, do we experience phases when things cannot get any better. Having stayed in cramped B & B's over the earlier part of our holiday, we arrived at Fairwinds, expecting the same. As it turned out, the rooms here were enormous (within the main hotel) with a fire place, a small kitchen and a large bathroom and a super comfortable bed. […] Add all this to a superb breakfast, served by friendly hosts and a quiet, close to nature location (red squirrel, Scottish Crossbills (!) can be seen in the feeder), you would get an idea of what the fuss is all about. Hotel is off the main road in a secluded woodland setting. Spotless clean rooms , comfy bed, good bathroom with fluffy towels and Arran Aromatics toiletries. The room also had tea/coffee with homemade shortbread. Delicious! Free internet was an unexpected bonus. Fantastic home cooking with great choice at breakfast and we had a candle lit dinner which […] was great value for money. We stayed at the Fairwinds while doing some day hiking and whisky sampling in the surrounding areas. Its location put us within easy driving distance of the trails of Rothiemurchus and several speyside distilleries. Lindsay and Allison are delightful hostesses. We really enjoyed our stay.
