The Station Hotel - Ashbourne

This is the second time we have stayed here. This time we were given a free upgrade to a spacious 4-poster room by a very welcoming hostess. The hotel is quiet and very traditional, probably furnished and appointed in a style similar to in its heyday as a hotel for rail travellers. The bathroom was, however, more modern! My partner and I stayed for a night here recently and we had a great time. The hotel is an excellent combination of stunning turn of the century decor with all the warmth and friendliness you would expect at a well ran B & B. We were upgraded to a four poster room, which had a memory foam matres which made it amazingly comfortable as well impressive! Room […] was large with flat screen TV, beautiful furniture and bedding. Breakfast was made to order and delicious, choice of cooked items as well as cereal and juices. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Overall the hotel had a nice feel and we enjoyed our time there. from the moment we contacted david and margaret at the station hotel they were very helpfull to us.from allowing us to check in an hour earlier, to prepare for our wedding at ashbourne town hall to letting us have some of wedding photographs taken at the hotel. we had an excellent time from the moment we arrived untill the time that we checked out.we […] stayed in the four poster room,which was absolutely stunning and very romantic.unfortunately we didn't have time to make use of the hot tub which came free for one hour with this room.both my husband and i will not hesitate in staying at the station hotel in the future anfd infact we have all ready decided to stay again for our anniversary next year. with great thanks to david and margaret for making our start to married life a good one. We chose The Station Hotel as it was fairly close to Alton Towers. Parking at the back is fairly secure. Our room was great, lovely Victorian high ceilings, comfortable beds and a modern bathroom. The hotel has a Sainsburys behind it, we were worried it might become chav central late at night with cruising pug 106s and the like - but no it was quiet. If […] you want a lively town then go elsewhere, if you want somewhere quiet about 10-15 mins from Alton Towers with a choice of restaurants then this is good. I wasn't sure what to expect as I had never been to Ashbourne before and had only seen The Station Hotel online. The hotel was really nice and I felt comfortable on arrival, it was ideally situated close to town and only a few minutes away from the bus station. My room was large with a lovely four poster bed, which had a much appreciated memory foam […] mattress, and I slept soundly throughout both nights. The breakfast in the morning tasted nice and fresh, unlike previous hotels that I have stayed in where it simply tasted re-heated. The manager was really nice and approachable from the moment I arrived to the moment I checked out, and I knew he was there if I need any help or advice on anything. He suggested places I might like to visit and upon check out he even offered to let me leave my belongings at the hotel so that I could have a walk around town without having to carry it all. I would really recommend staying at the Station Hotel and I certainly plan on staying there again myself in the future. Read more

Excellent service and breakfast. Nice, quiet hotel just around the corner from the centre of Ashbourne. The Bridge wine bar is great for a few drinks or a meal, we kept going back. Dovedale & Ilam are just a few minutes away and Alton Towers is very near. A great choice!!

We enjoyed our stay.The room was spacious and comfortable with luxuries like a bath robe.Breakfast was good.There was a welcolming atmosphere.Our only critisism was the bar as not open at lunchtime and the heating and plumbing not very effective.Otherwise we liked it verymuch.

The hotel was built in 1901 next to the local station. It is a beautiful Edwardian building & the owner is very knowledgeable about the history. It is a 2 min walk from the centre & has good safe parking. The room was large, clean & the bed extremely comfortable. The amenities included flat screen TV, tea & coffee making. The bathroom was a little outdated […] but immaculately clean & everything worked! It had large fluffy towels, bathrobes & toiletries. The full English breakfast was excellent & better than a lot we've had in more starred hotels. Overall a good choice for an overnight or so in the beautiful Derbyshire countryside. Read more
