We liked the room; very spacious with a great bathroom. Just barely out of comfortable walking distance to the pier & village w/ our two young children. The staff was properly polite, but we felt out of place having our kids with us. We didn't know about the evening dinner dress code until after we arrived. Judging by some of the guests waiting, we felt unwelcome & went out for dinner. Breakfast was good, but we had to wait quite a while before our order was taken. There should have been more than one person able to take an order when guests arrive close to each other. I think it's perfect for travelling with friends or as a couple.

We only stayed one night but wished we could have stayed longer. The pool was great. Our kids thoroughly enjoyed the splash pool. The steam room and hot tub were wonderful. We wished they could be open a little later. The bunk beds were loved and the surprise cookie for the kids in the afternoon was a great treat! Shower was easy to work & had nice water pressure. The staff were very nice & helpful. The restaurant had good food and good service.

I could not have been happier with my choice of a place to stay, it was perfectly located, very easy to find, and the owners could not have been more helpful with great advice for some things to see while in the area. I will go back, absolutely, if the opportunity arises to travel into the area again. The breakfast was one of the best I had this trip, extra stars for that.

East View was a gem. It is a comfortable and pretty place to stay when visiting Hadrian Wall country. It is convenient to the AD 122 bus to places on the Wall. Julie, our hostess, welcomed us and we felt at home for our stay. The breakfasts will long be a happy memory. We were "spoiled for choice" as our Engish friends say. I would highly recommend East View.

"Lovely...but some small disadvantages"
For anyone wanting to 'get away from it all' this is ideal.. The beds were extremely comfortable, the hotel (or in truth, large guest house) was spotless and the lady who runs the hotel couldn't have been more helpful or pleasant. However,, while the location is extremely quiet, a little background music in the dining room would have made breakfast […] less self-conscious! Such is the perfect silence, that it was difficult to put a knife down, or talk, wihout disturbing the peace! The location is delightful and the view, wonderful. However, it's not 'near' anywhere in particular and for walkers, would be perfect - though sightseers and visitors to the lakes couldn't possibly manage without a car, or a willingness to drive. There are no nearby restaurants - just a pub that opens when it feels like it. Which brings me to my only real criticism. We booked dinner on the first night. It was £24 a head. Dinner is taken in the breakfast room. There are candles on the tables. But it's not a restaurant. It doesn't have the ambience of a restaurant. Our starters were okay. The main course was delicious. My home made ice-cream for pud was lovely. At £15 a head it would have been spot on. The ambience of the house is warm and welcoming. But the cost of dinner flew in the face of all other impressions. I hadn't been reluctant to book at this pricve. The menu sounded fabulous and entirely home made. The result failed to live up to it. But don't let this put you off. It's a magical place.
