On downtown’s fringes, Fort Fincastle and the Water Tower offer 360-degree views of Nassau. Nearby, the Queen’s Staircase honors Queen Victoria for ending slavery. "Pleasant for Easy Going/Low Maintenance Travelers"
Look, if you're going to stay in this kind of place, you aren't looking for luxury. That said, it's definitely a SAFE place with great security and cameras, it holds more locals Bahamians than other places, is right across the street from the beach and ocean (small semi-rocky beach, but quite pleasant if you are looking for sunshine and easy living). […] This hotel is about a 10 min walk to the Fish Fry which is WAY better than the downtown area with all the chain restaraunts. This place is quite good, includes TVs with cable and a small air conditioner. Our room had a wonderful view of the ocean. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Great for the price, location"
The hotel was fine, as expected. It was fairly clean and the service was pretty good. I enjoyed my stay here in general. The real strong point is the location -- near junkanoo beach, arawak cay, and downtown nassau -- all were important sites to visit during my time there. I spent very little time in the room itself.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Basic and Adequate"
I stayed here for two nights in July, connecting between the US and another island. I arrived late, but my room was ready. When I walked in I felt slimy and damp, and throughout my stay, I kept feeling like something was crawling on me. I only found on dead cockroach, so that's something. There are no balconies to sit outside and enjoy the weather, […] which was perfect. It's only a 10 minute walk to Senor Frogs and the Straw Market, which proved to be mostly junk. If you want to be pampered definitely go elsewhere, if you have really low standards and want something cheap, this is your place. Free wifi if you can catch the signal in your room. "Great place to stay that is near the Fish Fry!"
I went to Nassau on a budget scuba diving trip. I chose to avoid staying at an all-inclusive resort because I want to dine at a variety of restaurants. "Great price for a one night stay"
My husband and I just needed a place to stay for 1 night before meeting my family for a family sailing trip. I chose Junkanoo Beach Resort because of the price, it's closeness to downtown, and the fact their was a public beach right across the street. The front desk staff was very kind and helpful (although I think she got somewhat annoyed of all my […] questions). We never did receive a remote for our T.V. and we had to go track down a maid for towels so that was kind of annoying. We were exhausted from traveling so we just ate at the restaurant at the hotel. We each had their cheeseburgers which were great! We ended up walking downtown the next morning which wasn't far at all. We were able to keep our baggage in a room that was locked up after check out because we had some time to kill before meeting my family. Overall it served it's purpose of a cheap one night stay! "Sparse but good"
Stayed at Junkanoo for business and it was fine for me. The staff were nice and helpful. The room is sparse, nothing great. If you want fancy go someplace else. It was inexpensive for the area. I walked into town, so location was good. Close to fish fry dinner area. Free Internet, food was good, again nothing fancy. "Great choice at a reasonable price"
My wife and I enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The staff was very friendly and accomodating, and the location was only a 10-minute walk from the Fish Fry. Although the hotels in Paradise Island are categories below, we appreciated being near the Fish Fry and downtown by selecting the Junkanoo Beach resort. We'd definitely choose this hotel again!Genuine Hotels.com guest review
I would like to rate it higher because the staff is very friendly but you can't win the kentucky derby with a mule. "Pluses and minuses"
The motel is not the Sheritan. We went to it expecting little, so we were not that disappointed. The room was basically clean. The housekeeper came everyday (we stayed four nights) and mopped, and made our beds and wiped the place down. The price was right. My husband and I stayed there the end of March. The pluses are as follows: cheap compared to […] most other places; was basically clean; they have a bar; everything is within walking distance (Fish Fry, Dunkin Doughnuts, Senoir Frogs; the water is beautiful. We also got a sense of what it was like to be in the Bahamian culture, much more so in this area. Other pluses are the comfortable mattresses and the staff. The staff were very very sweet. We watched the cruise ships come in and it was very neat. Overall we had fun. Now for the minuses: the motel is old. When you shut the door you have to slam it. Which means that everyone else is slamming the heck out of their doors too. This goes on until midnight; slamming doors. The loud outside music happened only one night; on Good Friday. We didn't go to sleep till midnight anyway so it was okay. Until the last night!!!! We were very close to the road at this motel. There are scooters that can go all the way around the building repeatedly. As you walk up the beach it becomes trashy in places. Dirty diapers and broken glass. That was very sad because the water was beautiful. Crossing the street to get to the beach was tough sometimes due to traffic. Hope this helps. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
"Keeping it real."
The staff are the best, however hotel need a lot of TLC. The tap in the shower has to be in exact position to get warm water, it doesn't get hot, hot. The elevator is just too slow I walked from 5th floor to lobby and still beat the elevator, the exterior of hotel needs a new coat of paint, and the fire escape stairs are just rusty n need to be replaced. "great hotel for the budget traveler"
My husband and I just came back from a 4 day vacation and we had a great time here. The location of the hotel is perfect, walking distance to the shops in the center, Straw Market, Ferry. 10 minutes walk to Fish Fry, the famous restaurant row. Junkanoo Beach is cross the street, or you can flag down the Jittney and go to Cable Beach, Saunders Beach […] for $1.25. Yes, the hotel could use some remodeling, and it can get noisy, but it was clean and the staff is extermly nice and helpfull. We liked the restaurant in the hotel too, food and drinks were good and inexpensive. We really enjoyed our stay here, hope you will too! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
We were passing through - missed our flight to FLL for a cruise that stopped in Nassau - we flew to Nassau and picked up the last of the cruise. We spent one night at the Junkanoo and were looking for the best deal we could find. The location of the hotel is great - right on the beach, and within walking distance to the Cruise ships. The hotel staff […] was great, but the hotel itself is nothing to brag about. The floor was dirty - must wear flip flops or your feet will stick to the all tile floor. The remote in the room to the TV was missing, there were no towels in the room. The safe had no lock on it, the drawers in the room had no bottoms (you couldn't put anything in them) and even with the curtains closed the lights from outside are so bright you couldn't sleep. The air conditioning unit in the room was broken, so it was a muggy 80 or so degrees all night. Not to mention the police sirens and loud public noise, (boom boxes, yelling, fights, drunkards) that continued until after 4:00am. We laughed about it the next day - it is absolutely the worst night we've ever spent on the road. (And we travel a lot.) "Need a Cold Shower? This One's For You"
First appearances were deceiving. There was absolutely no sound barrier between the room and the outside...AND the lounge that seemed to have the music piped to a "subwoofer" in the bathroom's exhaust fan. "The Junkanoo Beach Resort, Nassau Bahamas,"
If you are looking for a clean place to sleep with free wi-fi, free local calls, a good central location and friendly service, then this is a good hotel for you. If you are looking for a five star hotel with fancy amenities like those at Atlantis on Paradise Island, then this place is not for you. The floors in the room are ceramic tile, not carpet […] (which is probably easier to clean because sand gets into everything.) The cleaner of choice on the island seems to be bleach--fresh smelling sheets and a clean smelling room. The hotel is across the street from the beach at the corner of Bay Street and Nassau Street. There is a light to cross the road and pedestrians do have the right of way, but don't push your luck. Things we learned during our stay: If you want a seat during Junkanoo, you have to purchase them in advance. Buses are $1.25 and will take you most places you want to go. Natives are not allowed to gamble at the local casinos, and are not happy about it. Tips are expected for every service, including having your photo taken with your own camera--have lots of $1 bills on your person. . Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

The staff was helpful and friendly. My view of the ocean was beautiful and of the cruise ships. When first pulled up, from the outside it looked like a dump. But once inside its not bad. I put it on the level of a motel you stop by for a night or two. I believe I've read it here or tripadvisor but to sum it up, you get what you pay for. Our trip was primarily for getting our scuba certification dives completed. None of the 3 in our group were concerned about the low class status of this hotel compared to say...Atlantis so it worked for us. If you're just looking for a bed to sleep in then this is […] fine. There's free wi-fi which is a plus. The bed sheets irritated one person in the group (maybe sensitive skin?) but 2/3 were fine.
