"So Much Potential...But"
Chose this hotel because it was not a typical hotel. Liked that it was historical, and we understand that many times that means a sacrifice of "modern" conveniences. Found that the hotel was not without charm, but really needed some TLC. Our first room in the hotel was incredibly small with a bed and bathroom that compared in size. The bed listed on […] our Expedia reservation was a king, not the full or queen we were given. Barbara at the front desk was very kind and offered us a different room in the Taylor House, next to the hotel. This room was much larger, and had daybed and sofa, along with jacuzzi tub. The bed was comfy but had trouble with the lighting--even after getting new bulbs from the desk, still could not get the lamp to work--we rearranged the working lamps and made do. The room was nice but could have been a little cleaner, cobwebs from ceiling and dark spots around the tub led me to believe that maybe it had not been used in a while. Dinner at the hotel restaurant was great, the shrimp and grits were very tasty. The best thing about Hotel Strasburg is absolutely the staff! From the front desk to the wait staff at the restaurant and pub--we received exceptional service. That said, seeing things like peeling paint and worn furniture at the entrance of the hotel, we could not help but feel that with a little loving care, Hotel Strasburg could be restored to the charming place it must have be at one time. All in all, we did enjoy our visit! Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Our overall stay was fantastic! The bed and breakfast is well maintained, but don't expect a Hilton! The rooms are beautiful and the food is great! The staff is extremely polite and helpful. The grounds are well-maintained. If you want to eat at the restaurant, it's best to make a reservation early. We made ours late and they couldn't keep it, so we […] ate at the Pub, which was okay with us. We would be only too happy to stay again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A good change of pace for travelers."
The hotel was a little ways off of 81 but was a good change of pace from the multitude of cookie-cutter chain hotels a cross-country traveler usually encounters.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Felt Like I Was In The Movie My Cousin Vinny"
Hotel need some major renovation. I'm sure it was wonderful 20 years ago but it's time to bring it up to date. Keep the cozy, friendly, old time atmosphere. Just clean it up. QGenuine Hotels.com guest review
It's an historic building, well maintained with decor in keeping with its history. No elevator. Reasonably comfortable rooms are a little on the small side and lacking some amenities like in-room coffqee maker. The staff were all very frriendly and helpful. For one night it was quaint and nostalgic, and the rate was reasonable.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"Charming B&B with outstanding restaurant"
My husband and I both found the Hotel Strasburg so friendly and charming when we stayed for one night on our way to Monticello that we made a reservation to stay again on the way home, even if it meant a slight detour. In both cases, our rooms were pretty small, but very clean, comfortable and quaintly decorated. Front desk staff couldn't have been […] nicer. One of the best features of the hotel, however, is the on-site restaurant. I order crab cakes a lot and the ones here were outstanding. My husband had the schnitzel with capers, and we both wished we had a neighborhood restaurant in NY where the food was this good and the prices so reasonable. And the peach pie was truly out of this world. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review

"Could be a charming hotel"
The hotel was in grave need of updating. I was supposed to have a double room with 2 double beds. Instead I got a room with only one double bed and it was short and hard with rubber, uncomfortable pillows. The AC was situated so that it blew right into your face in the bed so we had to turn it off. The door did not come all the way to the floor and […] so a light came into the room all night long. The carpet was so filthy that you did not want to walk on it barefooted. It was a charming Victorian structure that could be wonderful but has been neglected for far too long. I would not recommend it nor would I ever stay there again. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"Ambiance, Hospitality, History and Charm"
We had a delightful overnight stay at this wonderful historic hotel right in downtown Strasburg. Amenities: If you are looking for luxury and convenience, this is not your place. But if you want to step back in time, slow down a bit, enjoy hospitality, warmth, charm, and history - this place is for you. I am just sorry we arrived too late in the evening […] to walk to the river or tour around town a bit on foot. I surely would like to go back. We were upgraded to a king room, though we just paid for a standard room. We wanted to try the restaurant out, but we were near closing time for the restaurant in the hotel, so we had peach pie, ice cream and coffee. Lovely! The restaurant is also full of charm and history. The old pictures on the wall, the knick knacks everywhere, the anique shelves and tables in every corner, the wallpaper, the heavy drapes, the lace curtains - all remind me of a gentler, less hurried time. All of this sprinkled with southern hospitality. We will do our best to visit this hotel again - and next time get there much earlier. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
Lovely OLD hotel in mid-town. In a safe residential area. Clean, great service, like dropping into the early 1900's. Thoroughly enjoyed the ambiance.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

"Excellent Victorian hotel"
Nice historic hotel, rooms were clean and comfortable. Food was very good.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The hotel Strasburg is charming, comfortable, and very reasonably priced. It is also pet-friendly and close to the Skyline Drive. The in-house restaurant is very good, and the staff is extremely accomodating. When I called to say that I would be arriving after the restaurant closed, they allowed me to order dinner and had it waiting for me when I got […] there. It's like a step back in time to when hotels provided real service and a friendly atmosphere. For the money it can't be beat! "Love this quaint, genteel hotel."
We stayed (two girlfriends on an extended trip) for only one night and would have liked another day. The Strasburg area had more to do than we had time. We spent hours in the emporium. We would have liked more time to explore, do the river walk, the artists gallery and who knows what else. The hotel staff were all delightful. I needed a toothbrush and […] when they didn't have any, they went out and bought one for me. There was a friendly bar. The restaurant was delightfully Victorian with lace tablecloths everywhere. We had dinner there and in the morning had their complimentary breakfast there also. As for negatives, there is no elevator, so if you can't handle a flight of stairs, this isn't the place for you. It is "vintage" so if you are into only new and updated you won't like it. My friend was a little put off learning that it had initially been a hospital, and was wondering if it could be haunted. We heard that the rooms in the separate cottages are especially nice and when I go back I'll try to book one of them. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review
I decided to try something different and go with a bed and breakfast. What a gem this place is! The staff went above and beyond to help me. Everyone there was polite and smiling. For dinner I ordered this pasta dish with eggplant and zucchini. .. wow! I highly recommend that. I will definitely go back if I get the chance.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Cozy, historic hotel"
We chose Strasburg as an overnight stop on a road trip from the Midwest to the East Coast, due to the history of the area and the appeal of this hotel. We were given a 2nd floor suite in the adjacent Chandler House, which had a historic feel with comfortable beds and a modern bathroom. As we had been traveling all day, we made reservations for dinner […] at the hotel restaurant, which was both convenient and delicious. I was traveling with my three teenage children, and this was one of their favorite hotels on our trip. Read moreGenuine Expedia guest review

"Very nice overnight"
Very good value for the price. Nice quiet room and for a turn-of-the-century stucture. Excellent dinner in the restaurant but should have made a reservation ahead of time. Continental breakfast pretty average and no elevator for us old folks are our only minor complaints. Certainlty would stay at the Hotel Strasburg again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
"A different, and pleasant experience."
The Hotel is Victorian style, with lovely, romantic style decoration. My room was cozy, spotlessly clean, and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was rather tiny, but well appointed and with fragrant, good quality, English bathroom products. Cooked breakfast delicious too, in a lovely, period decor dining room. "A bit of nostalgia in Strasburg"
I found the one night stay here different from your modern day hotel stays. Staff were both very polite and very helpful. Rooms were a REAL hotel room little more than a bed and a few chairs. The staff was quite friendly and helpful, the room was clean and well decorated. The overall feeling of the hotel is that it faded, but that the energetic staff is doing a great job keeping it going. "Bring your clothes pin."
I understand it's an old building, once a hospital, but it doesn't need to still smell like dead bodies. Our room was on the 3rd floor. "A quaint historic hotel"
I was traveling with my husband and elderly mother to Washington DC and made the Hotel Strasburg our stop for the night. "Friendly hotel with charm"
The room was clean, smelled nice, and had lots of nice older decorations. I wish the bed wasn't quite so squeaky and the pillows so flat, and the tv had more than 5 channels even though there was a list saying they had 60, but other than that, I enjoyed my stay. It reminded me of a bed and breakfast type setup. Great pub but did not get a chance to try the restaurant. as arrived very late. Stayed on night then headed onto skyline drive. Everyone was very nice. Would stay again.Genuine Hotels.com guest review
The room was about the smallest I have ever stayed in. The sloping ceiling probably made it one of the most expensive motels per cubic feet that we have ever stayed in. The continental breakfast was served in a wonderful dining room but just adequate. You can pay more and eat a hot breakfast in the dining room which was overpriced. Generally you get […] what you pay for but in this instance I don't think we did. The only other "larger" room available was on the busy street at the front of the motel. We chose to top floor which was obviously an attic from the ceiling configuration with the sloped ceiling. The bathroom was very small and the door didn't shut unless you pushed it very hard. The water was hot, powerful and was nice in the shower. The room was very cramped for two people and two carry on overhead suitcases. The building was built in 1902 and is on the historical society so if you want that ambiance it it is nice place to stay in downtown Strasburg. It is not the ambiance we wanted. Spend more more and get a larger motel. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
"A nice change"
Just stayed one night during a road trip. Strasburg hotel is a historic building converted as a hotel and is a charming , elegant place to stay. I assume it must be a popular romantic getaway. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The breakfast was sparse. I never tried the attached restaurant. Being an older building the air conditioner was struggling […] to keep up and only the cool off the night helped a bit. Beware there are no elevators and the stairs are steep and not for people with certain conditions. I enjoyed my brief stay and plan to take my family there soon. "Historic Hotel and neighborhood"
The Hotel has lots of charm that a building build in 1902 would have, with lots of period pieces of furniture and photos. (The toilet was not working very well, and looked like the guts needed to be replaced inside the tank.) Breakfast was very nice and there were nice neighborhoods to walk to and it's close to downtown.Genuine Hotels.com guest review

It is a nice, clean hotel. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room was small, but that was all we needed for a one night stay. I was surprised that the hotel being old that it had no musty odor or other smells that usually come with old properties. We were happy we decided to stay there.Genuine Expedia guest review
"Loved it-but was bed really "Select Comfort?""
I loved staying here, it fit my needs and was a step back in time for me. The only criticisms I have is (1) staff not looking under the bed to ensure the Kleenex and water bottle be removed prior to my arrival. I found these things and discarded them myself; (2) I don't believe the bed really was a "Select Comfort-Sleep Number" bed. The bed was comfortable […] and I had no trouble sleeping. My SC-bed is more than 10 years old, so maybe the technology changed. Loved the TV-DVD unit, so I could play the movie I brought one night during my stay. Looking forward to my next opportunity to stay there. Read moreGenuine Hotels.com guest review
