On a last minute whim, I decided to get away from it all and head to Roatan. Bananarama provided the perfect location for a budget traveler looking to... have all the amenities of a resort, without the big price tag. My room was great, the bed could have been a little better, and the hammock was an A+ addition. The amenities of the hotel can't be beat for the price: Restaurant, Store, Gift Shop, Bar, Rentals, Fine Dining (Vintage Pearl was amazing!), and most importantly one of the friendliest Dive Shops for a first time Scuba diver. Bananarama rooms aren't fancy but reasonably priced and decent. I actually really like the cabins a lot. The restaurant/bar seems like the hub of the West Bay beach. Seemed like pretty much everyone was eating and hanging out there. Great chicken and pork from their smoker, excellent "catch of the day" fish and great pizzas too.

Bananarama is a high traffic resort. On days when the cruise ships are in town it is overrun with daytrip visitors from the ship. However, when it is not a cruise ship day it is just perfect. Lots of lounge chairs on the beach, the friendliest bartenders in town and a lovely place to kick back, read and enjoy a beautiful beach. The dive staff was excellent […] - especially Sofia and Mike. The equiptment was good too. My only complaint was the boat themselves which are not the greatest, but who cares, because the underwater sights were great. Read more
