"Times Square Nugget"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
We really enjoyed our stay. We stayed for a week and were glad to find a hotel right in the heart of Times Square. The service was definitely top notch! The front desk was courteous and the concierge was very helpful, recommending great shows and restaurants. Our room was nice. It could've been a little larger. But the bathroom was a good size and the size of the TV's and the fact that they played HD was a bonus. Also, the bed was quite comfortable. The cleaning staff did a fine job of keeping up the room. I'll definitely recommend this hotel to others.
"Consistency. You can depend on it."Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 6, 2012
Finding a "GOOD THING" these days can get harder and harder. For this reason when you come across a 'good thing" it is priceless. One of the most recent "good things " that I have come across is the PARAMOUNT hotel in Times Square. The first thing that I leave the hotel impressed by is the professionalism and commitment that is demonstrated by the staff. Starting with the front desk where I was checked in by Catherine and continuing until the driver which I received at the hotel hands me my luggage at the airport. Catherine followed the details of my visit until the moment I checked out. The only dislike that I had which eventually i got over was the view of the alley where the boiler or some loud machine was placed. I know that from now on I will request a room that faces anywhere but there. If you are going to New York and plan on taking in Broadway there could not be a more perfect location. I love this hotel so much I find myself wanting to travel to NYC more. I cannot wait until my next visit to the PARAMOUNT which I hope will be in the next few weeks.
"Another Good Experience"Reviewed by a Hotels.com guest on May 5, 2012
My wife and I have stayed at the Courtyard in Mahwah three of the last four years to attend the NEAF astronomy show at the Rockland Community College in Suffern, just a few minutes away. We've always had good a experience and this stay was no different. The recent renovations definitely spruced the hotel up. The pool and spa area was nice, although the acoustics in the room left my ears ringing after a group of children in the pool were not using their "indoor voices." Our room was very clean, everything worked well, including the internet connection (which is a wired connection) and having a Dunkin Donuts right next door makes a stay here worthwhile in my humble opinion! Just grab a coffee and a bagel sandwich and go. The rates are competitive with other hotels in the area. If someone on here rates the hotel low, they must be comparing it to a five-star city hotel or maybe a destination resort. It's not that, but it is a clean and decent place to stay while traveling for business or short-term pleasure. I believe we will stay there again next year.

We had a very good time and the hotel was close to work.

Very nice hotel, within walking distance to subway for access to Manhattan (take the 7 or E and you can get to grand central, times square, penn station). Just a few blocks to local restaraunts. The room was very clean, excellent staff, free shuttle to subway. Overall an excellent place to stay if your touring new york city. One note, if you are considering a "view room" save your money, the view is obstructed by a number of taller buildings (the hotel is only 7 floors). Overall an excellent experience and I would definitely stay again, especially at the rate because of the new hotel discount. If you plan to take a cab from the hotel call one yourself because the service the hotel uses charges a flat rate to specific areas and you can get a cab on your own for cheaper generally.

"A Great Day in Harlem"
was so pleasantly surprised i'd forego my midtown hotel next time for sure
"Very nice hotel and very affordable in NYC"
This is very a convenient hotel next to the train station and bus. The M60 stop from La Guardia is a block away! Hotel is very comfortable, clean, and quiet. There is a bar, lounge, and easy printer/ computer access to print boarding passes and anything else you need free of charge. The staff is very friendly and welcoming!

"Aloft Harlem"
It was a great location for me. I was around the corner from Studio Museum of Harlem, near Hueman Books and not far from the Schomburg Library, all of which I went to. I use to live in NY and chose the hotel for it's location. It was convenient to public transportation and I was in themiddle of a neighborhood that I love.

"Nice stay at Aloft"
Very nice hotel. Close to subway, shopping , historical sites and food. Loved the lounge which was packed with people having fun during the weekend. Overall stay was great.
"Aloft Harlem in New York City--absolutely amazing."
The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Accommodations were quiet, clean, comfortable, modern, and spacious. The housekeeping staff was very responsive to any request. Lively bar downstairs. Good food and snacks offered in lobby at reasonable prices. Easy access to subway--can be in Times Square in 20 mins. We've stayed in many hotels in NYC while […] visiting family--this one is the best yet. Read more
"i will stay here"
So I planned a trip with two of my close friends and colleagues to go to nyc for four days and it was absolutely the best decision made. The hotel was so cool from the lighting and the bar to the interesting elevator floors. The front desk were always very nice and spoke to you with a very willing to help tone. The bar was live and full of people at […] night but never heard anything in our room at night. There was a small incident when I checked in and the front desk clerk used my credit card to put on the room and accidently charged my card for the room again after paying for it already on hotels.com. I noticed it after checking my account and told the gentlemen at the front desk who told me he would.handle it. Upon my return from shopping with my colleagues the same gentlemen approached me and advised me that the charged would be reversed and even gave me a free breakfast for two. I'm a easy to please type of guy and he was cute so it was.no problem for me. Read more
"Good Hotel but not great location."
Clean, modern room but a few drawbacks: (1) stand up Shower Only (2) new bathroom door type that doesn't close all the way (3) flat screen tv didn't function properly. All lights were working, and easy to use soap/shampoo containers. Happening bar scene probably reflective of neighborhood, which I didn't totally mind (by itself), but it was pretty loud […] at night when you are upstairs in your room trying to sleep. Rowdy neighborhood. Easy walk to 125th Street subway stop, but pretty far away from midtown where more of the touristy haunts were... Not the hotel to stay at if you wanted to head back for a little rest before going out for dinner. More like a leave in late morning and come back only to go to bed sorta place. Probably won't stay again, would rather pay $20 extra per night to stay closer (you pretty much spend that on a taxi and a few subway rides). Only plus on location is that it is a short ride to LaGuardia! Read more
"clean but not of the quality of the price"
The bathroom light is not independent, which means if you wake up during night for toilet, you have to light the room to wake up your partner. Also, we left something in the room and wrote an email asking about it without getting any response. We called and found out that they did not organize the lost items. If you don't mean to respond, do not list […] your email address. Read more

"Aloft Hotel Harlem"
Wow....what a pleasant surprise...comfortable beds...free coffee... free internet...reasonably priced food in the lobby...flat screen TV's...right around the corner from the subway..Nice!
"excellent all around"
my stay was excellent, from beginning to end.would defenitley recommend to all that are interested
"Aloft Harlem"
Room was reserved 2 weeks before our trip. When we arrived at 3.30PM, it was not available. We waited 30 minutes more. Neighborhood is very bad, I did not feel myself safety. It was my first and last stop in this hotel. I am not recommending it.
"A gem in an up and coming neighborhood"
I enjoyed everything about my stay. The staff was accommodating, rooms were nice and relatively quiet, lounge was happening. The only "incident" was when I checked in. The desk gave me the keys to an occupied room. When I opened my door, there was a woman in what was to be my bed. She wasn't amused. I thought it was hilarious. The desk was dumbfounded […] that such a thing could happen and the incident apparently caused quite a commotion among the staff, as they had all heard about the incident the next day. Other than that, my stay was rather uneventful, which is good. Read more

"Great location, great room"
Great location in harlem, near apollo very convenient. The hotel staff were very nice. They even had a hip hop event with live band later that night, that was really cool. The room was clean and very comfortable and modern style. Only thing i didn't like was my view, that kinda sucked it was facing the machinery side but hey i got a pretty nice deal. […] Would recommend. Read more
"Great Stay!!"
I stayed here about a week ago. Located in the heart of Harlem its only a 2 block walk to the train. The AExpress takes 2 stops to get to time square. There was a stain on my carpet, but not that important. The lobby/bar gets real packed on the weekends. Shopping is a block away from Hotel. I would however check the parking out down the street b4 I […] pay 45$ a night w/ no ins and outs. Read more

"Aloft Harlem NYC"
Great hotel with great accommodations; much nicer than your average Marriott. Staff was super friendly. The surrounding area isn't that great (especially at night) but it has it's own character during the day. I was interviewing at the Columbia hospital and it's probably the nicest hotel close to that hospital (def a cab ride away). Highly recommend […] it for the hotel itself, but not the surrounding area. Read more
"breakfast"
At least a continential breakfast should have been included in the basic hotel rate. I found out that some rates do include that service, but was not informed of that option when I made the reservation on line. Most other chains offer this, it makes the hotel appear cheap.
"Dope Area and Stay at Aloft Harlem"
There was nothing bad about this hotel. Everyone was great and it was a very comfortable. They treat you great no matter if you look like you are rich or not... something uncommon for nicer hotels.
"The Aloft is A++"
This hotel is Awesome!
"Very nice hotel"
The only complaint I have about this hotel is we couldn't have air conditioning..I'm from Louisiana and needed a fan but I understand that's not normal for NY. Staff was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely stay here again!

"Great"
The staff and accommodations were very nice. and comfortable. I would stay there in the future.
"A lot Hotel conveniently located, Friendly staff"
The hotel was immaculate. The stuff was terrific & friendly. Accommodations, all-around were excellent. A terrific place to stay. I would highly recommend it. I was sad to leave. I will go back definitely.
"Uptown"
nice hotel.. nice location.. right across the AMC movie theatre and lots of shops and restuartants..nice bar scene friday night and during the weekend; but the menu really isnt much to brag about.. overall nice place to go in uptown harlem.
"Aloft Harlem is Lofty enough to stay there"
We were pleasantly surprised to find a first rate hotel in Harlem. Very quaint and "petite". Very pleasant helpful staff. Room was comfortable. Took a minute to figure out the lighting and for the water to turn from cold to hot. Could use a side chair to go along with the desk chair in the king sized bed room. All in all, it was worth it.
"Needed an overnight stay for an interview..."
And I was very satisfied! It's a fantastic hotel in Harlem. Very clean, modern feel, spacious rooms. Staff are all nice and super helpful. Very close to the A and C trains. Not too much in the immediate area (other than a McDonald's and a Popeye's), but convenient access to the upper west side.

"Chic, Cozy, and Close"
While I missed the hotel amenities such as doorman, bellhop, valet parking, and room service offered at similar Upper West Side hotels....it was nice to be close to all the Harlem action. I live in CT but work in Harlem. There are plenty of restaurants, theaters, and activity to entertain me and on late nights out, it's a winner.

"A suprise Oasis in the middle of desert"
The Alof Harlem is a quite unique place to hold up in a place where you would least expect to find a place of this calibar. Even though the room was a little cramped for two the facility was well maintains and met our needs for two nights.

"Aloft Harlem"
Really nice room & spacious bathroom, especially by NYC standards! Convenient to Columbia campus. I will stay again.
"Aloft hotel"
The staff was great and very helpful...Had all the things you would need when traveling and it was very comfortable. I gave it a 4 only because we were not able to regulate the temp in our room the whole building is set to regulate itself based on the weather outside. Otherwise it was very nice. Excellent customer service and lots of Flava!!!
"Aloft Harlem"
We stayed there to visit our daughter at Columbia, which is quite close. A new building and part of a chain, it has some nice touches but the finish workmanship is a little bit shoddy. The room was very nice and the bed very comfortable, but the bathroom setup results in the light shining on someone sleeping if you want to see the sink. The staff is […] extremely friendly and eager to help, and the lobby is interesting but not particularly conducive to hanging out (there's a bar open to the lobby up a half-flight of stairs that might be o.k -- I didn't check it out). The neighborhood has a long way to go. I tried 6 stores/delis on a Sunday morning to find the NY Times and none had it (nor did the hotel -- which had only Friday's paper, I think USA Today). Things could change in the neighborhood so it may improve in a few years, but if you want street life it's not the place for you. Read more

"Aloft in Harlem"
Friendly, welcoming, helpful staff. Great neighborhood to explore; a terrific meal at Sylvia's. I had almost given up finding an affordable room -- for some reason, my usual go-to hotels for an inexpensive NYC weekend were booked or rates were way up -- when I tried this at the last minute. I've stayed at Aloft before. This had all the style without […] so much noise -- casual yet more polished in terms of service. Read more
"A GREAT Place!"
As a native of Harlem (now living outside of New York), it was so wonderful to visit and be able to stay right in the heart of Harlem. ALoft Harlem is long overdue. It was so convenient to everything I wanted to do right in Harlem and beyond. It is close to restaurants, subway/busses and great shopping on 125th Street. The hotel staff was absolutely […] spectacular, friendly and always with a smile. I could not have asked for more. Although it was expensive, it was well worth the visit. I will ALWAYS stay at ALoft Harlem on future visits. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New York City. Harlem is the place to visit...now it is the place to stay. ALoft Harlem made my time in New York, all the worthwhile. Read more
"Great service, a little far"
I thought the hotel was great - really cute and modern and hotel staff was very friendly and on top of it. Everything about the place/hotel itself was great. Catch - a little far from downtown manhattan if you are going down there. It will cost you a cab ride of ~$25 if you are rushing somewhere and prefer (and recommended) to cab home at night. The […] subway is also very convenient - 3 blocks away - express trains take you to manhattan in ~10-15mins. Also, if you are on the hotel room facing the street - some noise from outside - police sirens, and people yelling at night. I was there 3 nights and happened every time. Aside from that - the hotel is great =) Read more

"Aloft Harlem"
My husband & I enjoyed staying at Aloft Harlem. The staff was friendly, helpful and just overall a delightful group. Location is just a tad far from where all the happenings are but is still conveniently located near subway stations, and we felt safe walking from subway station to the hotel, which was just a few short blocks. The rooms were clean, comfortable, […] and very well maintained. Free wi-fi was even available which is a plus. The only thing I would complain about was that the hotel's electrical was undergoing maintenance during our stay so the light fixture in the bathroom sink area was not woking, which should be a temporary problem. I would recommend this hotel for those who do not mind a short distance to midtown/downtown area. Read more
