      Staying at the Rim was a real treat after our 3day Hilltribe, sort of roughing it tour!! The people were so nice and to walk into our beautiful, clean room with the sunken tub an stained glass windows, my husband and I were in heaven. Definitely worth the money.

      The old city looked good on the map, but it is also tourist and backpacker central. The location of the Opium is perfect: in a real neighborhood, yet reasonable walk or 60 baht tuktuk ride from everything. The open air lobby is lovely and the rooms comfortable. I really liked the mini-fridge to keep water (hotel provided) and drinks cold. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and were good sources of information for "off the beaten path" experiences. Great local market 2 minute walk away, tons of Thai eateries near the hotel and the Spirit House down the street for Thai, fusion, or Western fare.
