The hotel was not that great... but a very good location and the 2 men I met at the front desk were AMAZING! Very very helpful... One of them helped us with a Danube cruise (literaly from A to Z) and the second one sent us the tablet we forgot at the hotel all the way to Romania. Very honest!!

The outstanding feature of the Hotel Thomas was the helpful and enthusiastic staff. They were clearly used to dealing with foreign visitors. They were patient and helpful in answering questions about the city that I'm sure they've heard a zillion times. The room was fairly spartan, with tiny single beds and no fitted sheets (more common in Eastern Europe […] than Western). Breakfast was continental with some meats and veggies thrown in. The location is great since the metro is so close. Very easy access to the rest of Budapest. There is a grocery store a block away and a very nice traditional Hungarian hand-made souvenir store almost opposite to the hotel.The front desk staff were very efficient, friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very basic with no variety. The room was quite large […] and so was the bathroom, by European standards. However, I do have complains about the house-keeping staff. They most often did not vaccum well and did a lousy job cleaning the bathroom. I stayed for a week, and the cleaning was better on one particular day. So, I guess it depends on who does the job. The hotel is perfectly situated for easy access to the metro, sightseeing and shopping. This hotel is definately a tourist hotel. Nothing fancy, just your basic hotel room. The breakfast was filling, but after 10 days of the same thing....you get tired of it. The only complaint is the hotel allows pets and owners are not considerate. Room was fairly clean. Nothing fancy but certainly met 3 star expectations. Only problem was the walls were paper thin and you can hear everything from somone sneezing to their television. Location is pretty good as you can generally walk to several restaurants nearby and public transportation is very close.

We spend there three nights and had two persons room in other part of the hostel. We can get to our room only through balcony located outside of the building !!! Bathroom was generally clean but we had gas furnace in it, so sleeping with sound of working heating was not plesant. The room was extremly dry, the radiators was turned to maximum and we couldn’t […] decrease heating. Under the window was a big gap covered by wood, so the cold air was next to our heads. The sheet was dirty, quilt was some artistic paintings (e.g. i love budapest) made by previous guests, but why we had to sleep under that ? The breakfast was very, very simple. The only hot thing in the restaurant was water. The staff rarely completes food. The tea was the cheapest and taste awful. Wifi range was very bad in the room. The hotel was more like a 1 star the. Rooms were in need of. A complete overhaul with stains on the carpet and a prehistoric tv with a lousy view and not much heating. I stayed in Hotel Thomas for two nights with a few friends and have to say that this hotel offers a really good value for it's money. The location of the hotel is good because you can walk into the very city centre (20 to 30 minutes) and the rooms are definitely ok the price. Another plus is also the free WiFi access in the hotel and the very friendly […] and helpful staff at the reception. We also took advantage of the underground parking and one day we even found a spot on the street right in front of the hotel. The breakfast which is included was nothing special at all and we didn't even bother to take it on the second day. Overall I would definitely consider staying in this hotel again on one of my next visits to Budapest. Read more

Upon arriving at Hotel Thomas i tried to keep an open mind from the reviews id read on here. However, the staff on front desk were ok, greeted us and tried to help, even though nobody spoke much English, the restaurant staff were miserable and didnt say one word to us. Also be sure to get a map off front desk and keep track of where you walk as it is VERY easy to get lost. The room was basic, 2 single beds that werent very comfy, the bathroom was filthy. hairs and pubic hair where found all over the floor. the shower had dirt all over it and was rubbish. i had to get my partner to hold it for me while i showered as it wouldnt stay in any position and kept swinging off its holder. on our last night a big bus full of what i assume to be students turned up. i have never heard so much noise in my life, the walls are that thin we could hear everything, and we were on 4th floor. I no its not the hotels fault for the students loudness but its an example of how noisy this hotel is. every night we were woken by dogs or people in the street shouting. which makes it difficult to say that this hotel is ok to get your head down, because of its location, it isnt! there are dogzs everywhere and because of its thin walls you can hear every bark. The staff were incredibly helpful and spoke excellent English. The rooms were basic and quite comfortable but the curtains weren't large enough for the windows and the bathroom needed a refit. It is situated reasonably close to the centre of Budapest.
